The first true university was opened in Alexandria Egypt, by a Pharaoh who worshiped Zeus and Poseidon. The Ptolemys founded the first true university, based on the traditional Egyptian Temples of Thoth, with a Greek twist.
The Chinese also independently developed true universities, during the early Han dynasty.
Both before christianity existed.

On the subject of medicine the ancient Egyptians left us medical manuals such as the Edwin Smith papyrus dated from the 17th century BC.

The Egyptians were also into dentistry introducing the earliest dental bridges.

True but the scientific revolution in 16th century Europe had its origins from the Greeks.
The contribution from Islamic scholars was the rediscovery of Greek philosophy and mathematics.

Mathematics during the Golden Age of Islam, especially during the 9th and 10th centuries, was built on Greek mathematics (Euclid, Archimedes, Apollonius) and Indian mathematics (Aryabhata, Brahmagupta). Important progress was made, such as full development of the decimal place-value system to include decimal fractions, the first systematised study of algebra, and advances in geometry and trigonometry.[1]

Arabic works played an important role in the transmission of mathematics to Europe during the 10th to 12th centuries.[2]
