In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Yes, the same to you.
The priesthood is significant in both the old covenant and the new. The priests eating from the alter in God's house is significant as well.
Jesus is our High Priest in the New Covenant and is our Mediator.
Where are you getting your understanding? Judaism accepts the Sabbath as a feast day. Scripture tells you it is a feast. I mean think about it. The priests ate daily from the altar, it was his food. On the Sabbath and annual Sabbaths additional sacrifices were brought. Hence it was not just his daily food.

Jews do not believe the seventh day Sabbath is the same as the annual sabbath(s) feast days. When the annual sabbath(s) feast days lands on the seventh day Sabbath they call that a high day or high Sabbath so there is a clear distinction.

Scripture tells us the seventh day Sabbath is God's holy day Genesis 2:1-3, Exodus 20:8-11, Isaiah 58:13

Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished. 2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. 3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

Exodus 20: 8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Isaiah 58:13 “If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath,
From doing your pleasure on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a delight, The holy day of the Lord honorable,
And shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, Nor finding your own pleasure,
Nor speaking your own words,

Please read these scriptures, where do see anything about food or drink? Can you see that the seventh day Sabbath is clearly the holy day of the Lord thy God and the day God blessed, sanctified and made holy for us as well? God wants us to keep holy the same day that is holy to him. Does this make sense to you? We are to be like God and follow Jesus example who also kept the Sabbath. John 15:10, Luke 4:16

There are 7 annual feasts referred to as sabbath(s) and is about food and drink offerings, these came after sin and are an ordinance in the law of Moses, the weekly Sabbath was before sin Genesis 2:1-3 and is a commandment of God. Exodus 20:8-11 We no longer need to make burnt offerings or animal sacrifices in the New Covenant because Jesus was our sacrifice Hebrews 10, Col 2:14-17

Hope this helps.

Yes, Rabbis do and have spoken of the Sabbath as being a feast day. Judaism speaks of feasts in regard to minor, and (major) higher. It is considered a feast day none the less, because scripture says so.
Why did your post omit Lev 23:2 and 3? You quoted beginning from verse 4. Which says the very same thing as the above verses for the Sabbath.

A holy convocation.... What is that? It is a call to bring offerings unto God.
Lev 23:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.
3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

Yes, there are two Sabbaths in the bible. The weekly Sabbath which was before sin and is God's holy day from the very beginning. Genesis 2:1-3. The weekly Sabbath is also a commandment of God (not a suggestion) for all mankind Exodus 20:8-11. The Sabbath commandment came in a covenant of Ten Commandments Exodus 35:28. God's holy law was written by the hand of God and spoken by God to an entire nation and placed in the ark of the Covenant in the Most Holy of God's Temple, where God dwells and is also in heaven Revelation 11:19. There is nothing in the 4th commandment that has to do with food or drink. The "feasts" found in Leviticus 23 are the annual yearly sabbath(s) feast days. There are 7 yearly sabbath(s) festivals that may or may not fall on the weekly Sabbath day, that is the holy day of the Lord thy God. Exodus 20:10, Isaiah 58:16

The annuals(s) sabbath festivals of food and drink offerings, which was added after sin ended with Jesus being our perfect sacrifice. Hebrews 10, Col 2:14-17 The annuals sabbath(s) festivals was an ordinance in the law of Moses and not one of the Ten Commandments that are eternal Matthew 5:19 and will continue for eternity Isaiah 66:23 as promised by God. Exodus 31:16

I hope this helps.

God bless
Well, there are more than two Sabbaths given to Isreal to keep as "holy days" as you mentioned in Leviticus 23 and 7th day Sabbath is one of them...

Can you pointed out where in Scripture did it mentioned in creation for mankind to keep the 7th day Sabbath? (I mean "before" sin)

3 ‘For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a Sabbath of complete rest, a holy convocation. You shall not do any work; it is a Sabbath to the Lord in all your dwellings.

The 7th day Sabbath is first and foremost among the "Lord's appointed times" -
Not all feasts last 7 days - so it is not about "the 7th day of each annual appointed time".
Day of atonement is only one day - not 7
Feast of Pentecost is only one day - not 7.
Feast of Trumpets is one day (not 7) on the first day of the 7th month.

Easily Lev 23:3 is about the premier "appointed time" first in reference not annual but weekly a day of Holy Convocation as an "appointed time".

Each appointed time in Lev 23 has its own timeline/time-cycle mentioned - and for the Sabbath it is every week.

And Is 66:23 makes it very clear that on this "appointed time" - "all mankind is to come before God and worship"

Only one weekly holy day - and that was "made for mankind" according to Christ in Mark 2:27 - and we see it in Gen 2:1-3 - a detail that is not missed by either the "Baptist Confession of Faith - section 19" or the "Westminster Confession of Faith - section 19" or the Catholic Catechism or Dies Domini or many other Christian documents known to mankind.

Leviticus has its own "appt times" to call an assembly to bring offerings to God
Le 23:37 These are the feasts (Greek feasts) (Hebrew. appointed times) of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day:

More than that. There is the Sabbath given for the land. To let it rest and grow of itself every seven years.

I’m not sure what more I can do to explain that the seventh day Sabbath is God’s weekly holy day and has nothing to do with burnt offerings, those are the annual feast days. It’s all referenced in the scriptures I posted and in your bible.

I see you haven’t taken me up on my offer to find scripture to support your day of worship over trying to discredit God’s holy Sabbath day. Exodus 20:10, Isaiah 58:13, Genesis 2:1-3, Isaiah 66:23. I would be more concerned trying to find the missing scripture where God blessed, sanctified and made holy the day you worship over discrediting the clear word of God who blessed and made holy the seventh day for God and all of mankind. Mark 2:27, Genesis 1:26-31. There is no teaching that we should do the opposite of God and Jesus.

Ephesians 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children

1 Peter 2: 21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: (Jesus kept the Sabbath His whole life Luke 4:16, John 15:10)

1 Peter 1:15 but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” (The only commandment that uses the word “holy” is the 4th commandment- God’s holy day and the day He made holy for us. Exodus 20:8-11, Isaiah 58:13)

Luke 8:21 He replied, "My mother and brothers are those who hear God's word and put it into practice." Good advice.
Revelation 22: 14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.

If the Sabbath here in Mark 2:27 is reference to the 7th day in creation, then why is it Hebrews 4 states in reference to 7th day that "they shall Never enter my Rest"...

..then God made a certain day calling "today"...

Maybe this will help

Hebrews 4 is referring to two different rests. The seventh day Sabbath rest and the rest we receive in Christ when we obey. We do not receive the rest in Christ by disobeying the Sabbath commandment. It's God's gift and blessing for those who obey, so you might want to consider observing it so you don't miss out on that blessing.

Hebrews 4:1 Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest (the gospel rest), let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. 2 For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it. 3 For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:

“So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest,’ ”

although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. 4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works”; (direct reference to the 4th commandment Exodus 20:8-11, Genesis 2:1-3) 5 and again in this place: “They shall not enter My rest.”

6 Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, (what did they disobey? Here you go:

Ezekial 20:13
Yet the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness; they did not walk in My statutes; they despised My judgments, ‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them’; and they greatly defiled My Sabbaths)

So you do not enter into Christ rest by breaking the Sabbath commandment

Back to Hebrews 4

7 again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said:

“Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts.”

(Today if you hear the truth do not harden your heart, don't wait for another day to obey God.)

8 For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. ( The word Rest hear means sabbatismos in Greek literature always, 100% of the time, refers to seventh day sabbath-keeping;)
10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His. (Again God is our example)

The Festival Sabbaths are Holy Sabbaths none the less. Saturday is the Sabbath given to Israel. To remember their cruel bondage and God's faithfulness to their fathers to bring them out, as being the heirs of the promised land.. That is why it was/is an offence to them.
There is a lot more than just a day to rest involved in God giving Israel the Sabbath.
We are not the heirs of the land. We were not slaves in Egypt, we were not the children of that promised land, they are. It is an offence and reading those things in the law, I can understand why.
I see you haven’t taken me up on my offer to find scripture to support your day of worship over trying to discredit God’s holy Sabbath day.
The same one you do. Every seventh day from the day work began . It does not need to be a specific day of the week. The seventh day is counted according to how many days you began to work. I don't determine the "sabbath day" The Church decided to keep the day the Lord arose from the dead. The emperor decided that was good. So it is.
Good day

Well you are free to believe as you wish but it doesn’t change God’s Word.

God worked six days Genesis 1 and kept the seventh day holy from the very beginning Genesis 2:1-3

God commanded us to do the same thing. Work six days Exodus 20:9 but the seventh day, we rest and keep the Sabbath day holy Exodus 20:8

Jesus rose the first day so its impossible that the first day is the Sabbath, because God defined the Sabbath as the seventh day and that has never changed. Exodus 20:10

You are free to obey your church, but it’s always better to obey God over man and keeping traditions, over God’s commandments Jesus tells us we worship in vain (not my words). Matthew 15:3-9

The Sabbath is a commandment of God Exodus 20, spoke and written by God, for all of mankind. You are free to reject this, but I wouldn’t because this is how we will be judged James 2:10-12

We will have to agree to disagree.

God bless

Well that is not true at all. Here let me help. God's 4th commandment outside of the annual feast days of Leviticus 23 was not a day of "holy convocation"

Leviticus 23:2-3 [2], Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, CONCERNING THE FEASTS OF THE LORD, WHICH YOU SHALL PROCLAIM TO BE HOLY CONVOCATIONS, EVEN THESE ARE MY FEASTS.
[3], Six days shall work be done: but THE SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH OF REST, AN HOLY CONVOCATION; you shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.
[4], THESE ARE THE FEASTS OF THE LORD, EVEN HOLY CONVOCATIONS, which you shall proclaim in their seasons….

FEASTS IN THEIR SEASONS LISTED...

Passover and Unleavened Bread - Leviticus 23:5-8
First Fruits - Leviticus 23:9-14
Harvest - Leviticus 23:15-22
Trumpets - Leviticus 23:23-25
Day of Atonement - Leviticus 23:26-32
Tabernacles - Leviticus 23:33-44

..............

Comments:

Leviticus 23:2 as an opening statement "concerning the Feasts of the Lord" so the context and the subject matter here is in context to "the annual Feasts of the Lord" which "are to be a Holy convocation even these are my Feasts". In Leviticus 23:3 we are told that the annual Feasts of the Lord includes Gods' 4th commandment which is one of these "Holy convocations" included in the annual Feasts when it says in v3 "the seventh day sabbath of rest an holy convocation." Therefore to me the scripture is listing Gods' 4th commandment in Leviticus 23 as a holy convocation that is a part of the annual Feast days. The main point here is that Gods' 4th commandment in Leviticus 23:3 is in context and application to the annual Feast days of Leviticus 23 and is specifically called here a "holy convocation". Outside of the annual Feast days God's 4th commandment according to the commandments is not a "holy convocation".

The original Hebrew of "Holy convocation" H6944; קֹדֶשׁ (qôdesh | ko'-desh); H4744; מִקְרָא (miqrâʼ | mik-raw') is not used in Exodus 20:8-11 and is only used in context to the annual Feast days of Leviticus 23 and means "a calling out to a public assembly or to a sacred place". That public assembly and context here is to the annual Feast days to make offerings to the Lord.

So the application of Gods' 4th commandment as a "holy convocation" is in context only to the annual Feast days of Leviticus 23 and not outside of Leviticus 23. Outside of Leviticus 23, which is the context to the annual Feast days there is no mention in Gods' 4th commandment being a "holy convocation" see Gods 4th commandment below. However, God's 4th commandment says that the Sabbath is a holy day in it's own right (see Genesis 2:1-3 and Exodus 20:8-11)

Exodus 20:8-11[8], Remember the SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY. <Why?> Because God made it Holy for mankind and commands us to keep it as a Holy day) [9], Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: [10], But the SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: <WHY>[11], For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the SEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH, and MADE IT HOLY.

Note: there is nothing in God's Sabbath commandment outside of the annual Feast days stating that God's 4th commandment is a "holy convocation". The application of Gods' 4th commandment as a "holy convocation" or a calling out to a public assembly is only in contest to Leviticus 23 which is to the annual Feast days that Gods' people under the old covenant were called out to participate in.

Leviticus 23:2-3 includes Gods' 4th commandments as a day that is a holy convocation that is included in the Feasts of the Lord as application is only in context to the "annual Feasts" that were all shadows of things to come that included the meat and drink offerings (the old covenant sacrificial system), new moons (used to determine the annual Feast times) and the annual sabbaths that were directly connected to these Feasts. All these days were linked to the old covenant sacrificial laws for remission of sins that were shadows of things to come in the new covenant. These of course all pointing to the coming of Jesus *Colossians 2:16-17.

We need to remember here that the whole sacrificial system pointing to Christ was directly linked under the old covenant to every day of the week including to all the annual Feast days in fact every day including God's 4th commandment (see linked post above) was linked directly to the laws for remission of sins (animal sacrifice and meat and drink offerings). Under the new covenant this system is now fulfilled and continued in Christ based on better promises (Hebrews 7:1-25; Hebrews 8:1-13; Hebrews 9:1-27 and Hebrews 10:1-22).

Possibly what your disregarding here is that Gods' 4th commandment is also outside of the annual Feast days that are "shadows of things to come" (Colossians 2:16). This means that even if the shadow Feasts are no longer a requirement for God's people, Gods' 4th commandment is still a requirement because it is also outside of the annual Feast days and all the laws for remission of sins and every 7th day of the week.

You also may want to consider that there were many kinds of ceremonial sabbaths in the old covenant linked to Leviticus 23 that were not God's 4th commandment that were days of holy convocation were no work was allowed. There are seven of these ceremonial Sabbaths as follows:- Leviticus 23:7, 8, 21, 24, 25, 27, 32, 39. 1. 16th of Abib; 2. 23rd of Abib; 3. Pentecost; 4. 1st of the 7th month; 5. 10th of the 7th month; 6. 15th of the 7th month; 7. 22nd of the 7th month. These were annual Sabbaths, coming only once a year. As they always came on the same day of the month, they would come only occasionally on the 7th day of the week so every year they fell on a different day of the week (accept for Gods' 4th commandment which was simply every 7th day of the week). It is these ceremonial sabbaths connected to the annual Feast days that were all shadows of things to come * Colossians 2:16-17. These types, or shadowy service, ceased at the cross *Hebrews 9:8-11. At the death of Christ God rent the vale of the temple, thus showing that the shadowy service had ended *Matthew 27:50-51. All of these ceremonial sabbaths were connected with the annual feast days. On the Passover Sabbath bitter herbs were mingled with the feast. The day of atonement was a fast day; the others were feast days *Hebrews 9:10; Romans 14:1-6; Colossians 2:16. These annual sabbaths were separate and distinct from the Sabbath of the Lord *Leviticus 23:38. The seventh day of the week is the Sabbath of the Lord * Exodus 20:10. “Meats and drinks” not connected with the weekly Sabbath *Exodus 20:8-11. Seventh-day Sabbath is a memorial of creation not the annual Feast days *Exodus 20:11. As long as the world stands the memorial of creation will be continued and celebrated *Isaiah 66:22, 23. (Stephen Haskell - Bible handbook)

It is the ceremonies that were done on these days that where shadows of things to come and fulfilled in Christ. However unlike the ceremonial sabbaths and days of holy convocation, the weekly Sabbath of God's 4th commandments is not locked into the annual Feast days it is outside of it and is a holy day that God blessed in its own right that is every seventh day of the week *Exodus 20:8-11

You guys can't seem to make up your mind. #04150 is translated feasts, yet also is appointed time
Appointed times Feasts of Lev 23
Holy convocations to bring offerings all on their day.
Le 23:37 These are the feasts <04150> of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon his day:

Due season 04150 appointed time..
Numbers 28 gives you the offerings to be brought every Sabbath day beside the daily sacrifices in the morning and the evening.

Nu 28:2 Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, My offering, and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, for a sweet savour unto me, shall ye observe to offer unto me in their due season <04150>.
Daily sacrifices...
Num 28:3 And thou shalt say unto them, This is the offering made by fire which ye shall offer unto the LORD; two lambs of the first year without spot day by day, for a continual burnt offering. {day by day: Heb. in a day }
4 The one lamb shalt thou offer in the morning, and the other lamb shalt thou offer at even; {at even: Heb. between the two evenings }
5 And a tenth part of an ephah of flour for a meat offering, mingled with the fourth part of an hin of beaten oil.
6 It is a continual burnt offering, which was ordained in mount Sinai for a sweet savour, a sacrifice made by fire unto the LORD.
7 And the drink offering thereof shall be the fourth part of an hin for the one lamb: in the holy place shalt thou cause the strong wine to be poured unto the LORD for a drink offering.
8 And the other lamb shalt thou offer at even: as the meat offering of the morning, and as the drink offering thereof, thou shalt offer it, a sacrifice made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD.
The Sabbath sacrifice
9 ¶ And on the sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and the drink offering thereof:
10 This is the burnt offering of every sabbath, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.
Then it continues on with the first day of every month.. These are appointed times as Leviticus calls feasts.

And how exactly does anything written in your post here disagree with anything in the post you are quoting from? It doesn't. You simply ignored the post and the scriptures provided in them that disagree with your teachings.

obviously every sabbath was a convocation to offer a sacrifice
You did not read the post you were quoting from earlier did you? If you did you would have seen that "everyday" under the old covenant including the new moons and the Feasts days, were days to offer animal sacrifices for sin offerings and burnt offerings (see scripture support from old covenant sacrificial system linked from the post you were quoting from). Perhaps it might be better to read the post you are quoting from before responding next time? It is obvious you did not read it with your responses you are providing here. It was only posted to be helpful so there is no misunderstandings. Everyday was never a holy convocation only those days applied to the annual Feasts at the time of the annual Feasts where days of holy convocation which simply means in the Hebrew a calling out to a sacred place for a public meeting. This was what the Feast days were. They were all a calling out to partake of the annual Feasts of the Lord.

Thank you SB, But that is an error by a miles...

there is only ONE Sabbath Rest in Hebrews 4, but there are two different days the "7th day" and "today"...the Rest in Christ is our Sabbath Rest, the Rest in Creation or 7th day is God's Rest...

Still a lot don't get to understand it more deeply including SDA, I'm sorry but I have to say it..

Not really your disregarding scripture contexts from Hebrews 4:1-5 and in Hebrews 3:8-19 that states no one enters into God's rest/My rest/His Rest defined as the "seventh day" created from the foundation of the world *Hebrews 4:1-5 by not believing and following what Gods' Word says. Your interpretation of the scriptures is a false teaching because no one enter into God's rest by not believing and following what Gods' Word says. "Therefore it remains for the people of God to keep the Sabbath." - Hebrews 4:9.

Take care.
