  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Modern day systemic racism, does it exist?

I know all of that.
Now, if its not coz of Asians working harder, what is it?
"Culture" in the abstract does nothing. It has to be acted on.

So what is it!
Luck?
Racism?
Smarter?

For instance, many Asian cultures arrive in America with concepts of family honor that permit practical Keh loan systems within the group. Their cultures of family loyalty encourage small family businesses in which children are effectively honor-bound to work the family business, subsuming personal ambitions. Their cultures of family respect cause younger generations to continue to respect, honor, and obey elder generations. There are also African groups with similar cultural values.

These kinds of cultural values--taking place in a country that otherwise lacks a hard social class structure---become an immense advantage that even native-born members of that country may not have.

Who or what is stopping black kids from getting education? People get college grants all the time.
The way schools are funded, being in a poor area ensures a poor education. Are people in the "ghetto" usually poor? Yes. Because of housing discrimination, blacks are herded into certain areas to let white folks live in minority free zones.

They are not herded there. They need to instill better values. Thats the systemic problem.. There is no systemic racism holding them back. Saying there is only enslaves their mind to opression instead of opening it to possibility.

It's the last sentence that is my point:

There are well-documented phenomena which lead to housing segregation. 'Herded' is perhaps not the best choice of words. Redlining is one such phenomenon. It still goes on today.

What is redlining? The definition i saw was to deny loans to people who are a financial risk. Remember the housing bubble and how it hurt the economy? Thats what happens when you make high risk loans.

The practice I'm referring to is denying POC loans because they are automatically determined to be high-risk.
The same practise occurs digitally in terms of iSPs and infrastructure maintenance.

These are structural manifestations of racism.

Are these black people qualified for a lone? I can't see greedy lenders caring about any color but green.

Yep, that's the point. They are eligible, but are being denied. There are clearly other interests which are more profitable.

Yes they are. Housing discrimination is real
No its not. Black people live in nice places. They are not all poor and from the hood. There are laws against discrimination. There is no systemic racism.

Why are white and black below Asian americans?
If one was really interested and took the time to actually read about the demographics one could find that Asian American's tend to reside in areas of the country that have higher wages in general. More Asian American's live in California the state with the highest median income, then in the next 5 states combined. Meanwhile African Americans tend to live in greater numbers in economically depressed states and thus have lower incomes
