• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

many former skeptics in the discussion I linked

your only problem is lack of experiences
You're like the posters in that thread - you ignore the relevant points and respond to the least important phrase. My problem is not lack of experiences, it is your attitude.

you are trying to be a better agnostic

which would mean to not know what is true
That's not even a deepity. If you don't know what an agnostic is, say so.

And for someone who claims not to know you certainly seem very sure of your nonsense. Take a step back, look at the words you have written, then laugh at yourself.

Can I?

Apparently you *have* posted your false memories in this thread. :)

Frankly I don't find your error all that surprising, or that many have made the same error. It's clear that thinking the store shared a spelling with the coin of the exact same pronunciation is just an accidental remapping of memories. It seems quite natural and quite unremarkable.

I'm not sure I could have spelled the store, but as some one who got most of his "nice clothes" in childhood from that store, I did notice long ago that the coin and store had different spellings.
Yup - I gave some examples of the kind of expectation-based recall errors way back in #11. Almost all of the Mandela effect claims are of this type.

The real reasons for these perceptual and memory glitches are far more interesting than childish clickbait fantasies aimed at the impressionable and the gullible.

You disrespect the truth of this effect

If you valued this truth…

That's how it seems

Are things as they seem?
Not always. But the simplest explanation that is in accordance with what we already know about the world is usually the correct one.

In this case, it's the well-established fallibility of memory vs science-fantasy that is contrary to all we know about how the world works, i.e. physics. No contest.
