  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Biden is a leading Democrat. His policies are those of the Democratic Party of Roosevelt, Kennedy, Humphrey, Clinton, Gore and Obama.

Let us not make believe that you support any of the policies of the Democratic Party.
===========================
And yes, Biden wants a win. After all Democrats will be running in 14 months. He might be standing for election in another 3 years. ???

Biden wants to reduce the numbers hospitalized with COVID. Yes, that would be a Biden win, so anything he wants to try must be opposed by all loyal Trumpists.

Let's not pretend this is anything other than Biden trying to put one in the W column.

He created a disaster on the border.

He's still struggling to pass a spending bill, largely because his fiscal policy of printing money is driving inflation.

He completely dropped the ball on the Afghanistan exit, despite having 7 months to prepare.

Covid has been running rampant.

He took away people's freedom so that by the end of the year, he gets to claim a win.

The only good thing I can say about him is he isn't Kamala Harris.

They may be the same party but the policies are drastically different.

Let us not make believe that you support any of the policies of the Democratic Party.

I couldn't tell you what they stand for since they adopted highly racialized identity politics.

Anything to distract from the dismal failure thus far.

I love how the same group of people who wailed and moaned about calling this the Wuhan Virus....because good grief...why would we blame those responsible?

Are the same people who blame conservatives for it now.

Do you hold any opinions of your own or just wait for the left wing propaganda machine to tell you what to believe?

I’m glad you see things my way. Being infected by a virus that was transmitted as a result of somebody else’s choices is an example of a negative externality. Implementing impediments to that transmission is an exercise in justice.
No, because it’s not unjust to not be vaccinated. That’s liberty.

Could be.

The unvaccinated raise the risks for everybody. That means they’re imposing the consequences of their choices on the rest of us. Their exercising of “freedom” results in less freedom for the rest of us.

Umm, been in a coma? Hiking the Appalachian trail? Recently returned from a Tibetan retreat?

FDA Approves First COVID-19 Vaccine

Welcome to September.

Plus, I wouldn't call twice "repeatedly", nor am I certain that vaccines are technically "medicine".

Nothing here that's very meaningful. We can always snipe at the edges and exceptions involved with any policy, but I don't see anything helpful about that, and it certainly does not solve anything.

Vaccinations aren’t 100% effective. (but you knew that)
Not everybody can take vaccines. (but you knew that, too)
Society incurs costs when folks get sick and die.

With a heartbeat as early as 6 weeks into pregnancy.
No heartbeat. "Cardiac activity" but no heartbeat (yes, they are different).

Congrats. Many of you refuse to accept the conclusions of the CDC and FDA, or the courts.
Ho hum. When decisions made by these or other government-related agencies go against the views of the "progressive" segment of the political spectrum, those people are not at all hesitant to denounce them.

We remember the howling about how Education was going to be sabotaged thanks to Betsy DeVos being Ed Secretary; and then there's the non-stop bleating about any decision handed down by the Supreme Court that doesn't go the way of the pro-abortion folks.

In that case, however, the opposition includes calls for packing the Supreme Court. "Neo-conservatives" aren't known for advocating such extreme approaches to getting their way.

All i wanna know, is what happens when biden does everything he can do, to include make vaccines mandatory, and yet there are still those of us who will never, ever take that vaccine?? What will be the final play of big govt vs those who dont trust big govt??
I’m actually curious to see how far biden will push this before he claims “mission accomplished?”

I agree. Packing the Supreme Court is a horrible, and dare I say undemocratic policy.

Progressive activists have been benefited by the Court for almost a hundred years, certainly in accepting the New Deal, and in Brown vs Board Of Education.

Personally, I much preferred the Court before the last change. It was still very conservative. Roberts now often votes in the minority. HOWEVER, even as a lifelong Humphrey Democrat, I have no right to complain that the Court is too conservative. Republicans have appointed conservatives, as is their right. If Democrats had paid a bit more attention, Trump wouldn't have won in 2016, and the Court would be much different.

What was "mission accomplished" in requiring smallpox and polio vaccines?

Those who choose to be unvaccinated will definite be discriminated against, as has always been the case. Their children will be required to be vaccinated or have home schooling or perhaps be isolated in their in-school learning.

That’s not liberty for “those who are concerned.” That’s a loss of liberty for them.
