• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Would you prefer it if “Christian universalism” were true?

So you are a liar too? You just proved it. How would I have your email?

That was another joke I'm afraid. I didn't realize he was talking about someone who was actually in this thread.

They weren't until they saw my post. Seemed like they were putting RR up to it.

I say "they" because of the multiple usernames. I've lost count. MUS (multiple username syndrome) An identity crisis. - lol

Again, you have to steer AWAY from the scripture quoted to make it say what you want it to say. That's my point.

More like that`s what you are doing. The explanation I gave you is solid, irrefutable, and orthodox.
You render yourself uncredible by opposing it.

The atoning sacrifice is for everyone, I agree there, but the sins of a person are not borne away until he is justified by faith, from my understanding
That is true as well. The question is about when that might happen. I think salvation is more complicated than we make it.

In the most famous Damnationist chapter (Matt 25) salvation is for those that feed the hungry, clothe the naked, care for the sick and visit those in prison. (works) Where is that in the gospel?

What do you do when you dismiss the scriptures for what they plainly say.

At least I am willing to accept contradictory scriptures as BOTH being true. Can you wrap your head around that?

Speaking of emails, please stop asking me to deposit money into your Nigerian bank account.

Dude we can trust the crown prince of Nigeria. :tearsofjoy: He just needs a few ££££ to free up his gold bullion inheritance, gold never devalues.

Again as I understand it, the difference between the UR view and the traditional view, is that in the UR view hell is a place of correction and purification, rather than just a place of unending torment.

Through the Holy Spirit? By living in a relationship with God and experiencing Him in your life.
I'm talking about the God revealed in the Scriptures, which is authoritative teaching.
Personal experience is subjective and not authoritative for everyone.

Doesn’t the cross of Christ serve justice perfectly well without the need for plain men, women (and maybe children) to be punished forever?
If Jesus’ blood is enough to see justice served in our case, why not in theirs too.
Indeed, it does, and is!

Which is why it is so puzzling that all do not access it through faith in him.

Go figure. . .

I grew up exposed to both Baptist and Catholic religion. The contradiction along with visits to multiple denominations as a young man led me to become very open-minded about the Bible. I look at new subjects from a neutral point of view.

At this point in my life, I`m old with over 40 years of study under my belt. The Bible has been my lifelong hobby and I am settled into positions on most issues.

There are no contradictions that I know of save one that I know to be a translation error. I firmly believe that a correct understanding of scripture will be literal and will not contradict other scriptures. Seeming contradictions have to be reconciled with all other scriptures on the same topic. I dismiss nothing.

One thing that leads to many errors is one verse theology.

In your case, you have too many preconceived ideas about the Bible to be objective IMO.

So hell being our automatic default state because of Adam, is fantastic.
Writing your own Bible these days?

Hell is not your "default" state. . .it's your only state (Romans 5:18) unless you apply the remedy through faith.
In what universe does the mere existence of the remedy effect?
It is only the application of the remedy that effects.
But heaven being our automatic default state because of Jesus, is a violation of our rights.
Heaven is likewise nobody's default state.

Heaven is only for those who apply the remedy for the state into which we are all born (Ephesians 2:3; Romans 5:18).

This "theology" of universalism is not serving you well. . .taking you away from Truth rather than closer to Truth.

Right. Restorative, not retributive.

I`m really pretty tolerant Steve but this is a false accusation I won`t tolerate. I suggest you knock it off.
I'm not accusing you of anything. I see you as the victim here. Just to be clear.

Which shows complete lack of understanding the magnitude of rejecting God's only Son,
the nature of unbelief, and the foolishness of the gospel to them.
