As Christians, if we want God's blessing on our family, we need to follow the PLAN He gave us from Creation ~ ONE MAN & ONE WOMAN
It all boils down to selfishness. A man who is a polygamist only thinks of himself. He doesn't think or care about the women and children that he is harming because he cannot control his lust. The only tempting aspect of it is sexual greed. Everything else about it appears to be too much drama.
It never ceases to amaze me how much of the Bible many Atheists know.2 Samuel 12:8 " I gave your master’s house to you, and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more."
God gave David wives; his master's wives (as if they were property). If were not enough, God would have given him more.
Sure sounds as if David having multiple wives was part of God's plan.
Not an argument for whether or not polygamy is permissible today.2 Samuel 12:8 " I gave your master’s house to you, and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more."

Yeah. But the OP indicates that it was "never" God's plan. So did God's morality change? Not an argument for whether or not polygamy is permissible today.
His didn't. He gave different orders to different people, and with that comes with different moral permissions. If I was a Jewish high priest before Jesus came, I would have a different set of instructions to live my life by than I do today as a Christian after Jesus came.Yeah. But the OP indicates that it was "never" God's plan. So did God's morality change?
Tinker, I don't believe it was EVER God's plan for POLYGAMY to exist. Just as it was NEVER God's plan for people to eat meat...He created us in the beginning to be vegetarians and when it's all over, in Heaven, NOTHING is going to die, so everyone who makes it to Heaven will be vegetarians....but due to sin, people have gotten off track, way off track, in many areas of their lives, including what they eat and how they live their lives....and God meets people WHERE they are....and does His best to lead them back to where they should beYeah. But the OP indicates that it was "never" God's plan. So did God's morality change?
So where's the "thou shalt not marry more than one person" or "thou shalt not eat meat". Seems your god is a poor communicator.Tinker, I don't believe it was EVER God's plan for POLYGAMY to exist. Tinker...what speaks more, WORDS or ACTIONS???So where's the "thou shalt not marry more than one person" or "thou shalt not eat meat". Seems your god is a poor communicator.
I mean he had commands for "thou shalt not eat shrimp".
No. It says a bishop and/or a deacon should have only one wife.Tinker...what speaks more, WORDS or ACTIONS???
God Himself set the EXAMPLE for us by giving Adam ONE wife. And here in Timothy, not once, not twice but 3 times, God speaks through Timothy and CLEARLY tells us that a husband should have ONLY 1 wife.
OK...last I knew Bishops and Deacons in Bible times were MEN...so MEN were told to have only 1 wife. If you are going to play games, you will have to play with someone else. I like honest discussions, but I don't like wasting time when people refuse to admit they are wrong.No. It says a bishop and/or a deacon should have only one wife.
That's as may be. But, that doesn't prohibit polygamy. If you're going to be a good Christian, you should strive to qualify as a bishop or a deacon.
But not all men. Nothing in the Bible prohibits polygamy. So, admit you are wrong.OK...last I knew Bishops and Deacons in Bible times were MEN...so MEN were told to have only 1 wife. They were at David's disposal. Please by all means show where David taken them to his bosom and bed.2 Samuel 12:8 " I gave your master’s house to you, and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more."

No they are even more. They are PriestsBut not all men. Nothing in the Bible prohibits polygamy. So, admit you are wrong.
All bishops and deacons maybe men (sexist much!) but not all men are bishops/deacons.
