This is an interesting read...

Milo is strong about his Christian faith being central to his 'coming out'

Will he be stopped by laws prohibiting 'conversion therapy'

Milo Yiannopoulos surprises gays with stunning invitation

Ahh yes, World Net Daily, now there's a source for news.

WND facing existential threat. How you can help

What we cryptically refer to as "The Left" – code words for a godless, revolutionary movement steeped in pathological anger and churning rebellion against America as a uniquely blessed Judeo-Christian, constitutional republic – is at war not with “racism” and “inequity” and Trump supporters (whom they label “white supremacists” and “domestic terrorists”), but with America herself.

It may pay to be a little more cautious with your sources. WND has a highly questionable rating.

Using Milo Y as a poster boy for gay conversion may also be an accident waiting to happen.

World Net Daily (WND) - Media Bias/Fact Check (mediabiasfactcheck.com)

Interesting issue you raise - The appearance of an article on WND does not automatically prove falsehood.

Various media have biased world views but that does not mean we should always assume inaccuracy.

I would be surprised if the essence of the story is beyond confirmation.

I just checked on Google and there are many news outlets reporting this including NYPost...

The NY Post (not to be confused with the NY Times) also has a poor reputation, but if you're willing to believe it, this para is taken directly from the NY Post article.

Members of the American Psychological Association have been rallying against the practice (gay conversion therapy) since 1998, arguing that there is “no credible evidence” such procedures could change sexual orientation

Several other organizations, including NHS England, the British Psychological Society and the Royal College of Psychiatrists published a “memorandum of understanding” in 2014 describing conversion therapy as “unethical and potentially harmful.”
Milo Yiannopolous to open conversion therapy facility in Florida (nypost.com)

You still have the problem of taking Milo at face value. He may be making Christian noises but, given his past reputation, it would make sense to be a little cautious.

I feel it is important to raise issues, whether Milo is kosher or not remains to be seen.

As this stage too soon to be sure...

I will watch this space with interest.

Why Christians would turn somebody like Milo Yannopolis into a poster boy baffles me, especially given they claim to value things like moral integrity and sincerity.

I'm talking with someone on a separate thread. This person believes that Covid vaccines cause cancer or infertility. Both are myths and I've just given her links to reputable medical opinion debunking the myth.

I know she won't accept this because I know she wants to believe that Covid vaccine is dangerous.

It's called 'confirmation bias' and CF fairly seethes with it. One version is a tendency to accept anything coming from an apparently Christian source at face value. The other side of this is to accept the source without question if it confirms a Christian point of view.

Both are instances of confirmation bias and can be cured with a healthy dose of informed scepticism.

“Faith” can be easier if one just follows the crowd that one might socialize with; both political and spiritual fervor are nearly identical in their social-cohesion aspects, but ought never to be brought together in a pluralistic society.
But here we are.

You reckon skepticism is immune to confirmation bias ??? !!!

Get real...

You reckon science and medicine is free of confirmation bias ???!!!

Bollocks...

Science and medicine decided that I needed a 6 month course of ECT and Chlorpromazine hydrochloride. Now they are publicly apologising for the abuse.

My relatives thought I was too far gone and there was no hope. I was reduced to vegetable state.

That was 45 years ago.

But folks prayed and now my life is way beyond what I could ask or think.

So am I going to write Milo or anyone else off for that matter ??

Of course not - I have seen what Jesus can do first hand. No one is beyond redemption and healing.

So time will tell if he is genuine or not.

Conversion therapies have already been tried. They didn't work, and even caused harm.

The insistence of trying it once again reminds me of unironic communists who believe that this time their utopia will work out, despite all the historical precedents that didn't.

That kind of therapy has been shown to do untold damage without any measurable success.

One can only hope that this will be prohibited.
