  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What do you believe about January 6th?

Did Trump supporters violently take over the capitol on January 6th.

And if you go by what a republican said, it's what they do as tourists.

Yes. And, honestly, how many of us, on a day-trip to see the sights in DC didn't smear a little excrement all over the walls? It's bound to happen when one is overcome with patriotism.

And most crosses are nowhere near sturdy enough to actually nail an adult male to.

But, if you plant one in someone's front yard and light it on fire, it sends a pretty clear message, doesn't it?
Yup...... the message is intimidation just as the gallows was.

I'm still shaking my head at "prop" gallows. I didn't notice it at first but after I looked hard no carpenter in his right mind would make something that flimsy to hang a man from who likely weighs around 200 lbs (checking......) I was right he is 92KG or 202.

LOLOLOL.

I wonder exactly how far you'll go to justify the Jan 6 insurrection. This is fun to watch. SO MUCH PARSING!

Actually my Mayor would rather have to clean up escrement than pay to have to paint over a BLM constructed painting on a street here it is a huge amount more expensive.

I've never justified an imaginary insurrection...... you don't have to justify something that is only a fantasy to begin with. If you call an elephant pink it doesn't make a pink elephant appear.

Clearly “in his right mind” doesn’t apply well to the geniuses at the Capitol that day.

Nope.... I don't do carpentry as a trade now and have no interest in hanging anything especially sheetrock.

I've never been in the carpentry trade, so obviously I've never just so happened to have the materials on hand to construct a gallows -- functional or otherwise. In fact, I may be jumping to conclusions here, but I'm going to guess most people don't.

Which means that someone planned in advance to construct a gallows in front of the capitol building, and of course, did just that. That sends a message...

.... don't you think?

The people on Jan 6 didn't kill anyone.

They just wanted to overthrow the legitimately elected United State Government. That is far , far worse then any terrorist attack on US soil.

"Imaginary"? You sure you wanna go with that? Because all of us saw what happened on TV in real time. Whether you liked their positions or didn't they most assuredly DID stage an insurrection.

Wow. You have slipped the surly bonds of reality and are free-falling through Q-space.

...and that's a crime.

But it was a crime committed by Murican Patriaughts! Ergo not a "bad" crime. A bad crime is protesting over racism. A good crime is anything a Trump supporter wants to do so long as they do it in his holy name.

I disagree that protests that got out of hand last year are in any way worse than the president of the United States, the figurative and official head of the federal government attacking his own government to forcibly change the results of the election he lost. There is no comparison to this event in American history.
Only he didn't. He didn't lead any insurrection. And never advocated Force.

Lol, and protests that got out of hand? That's hilarious! You mean the hundreds and thousands of injuries and many deaths, and billions in property damage? "Oh they just got a little out of hand."

I believe trump planned the insurrection and inspired his cult to attend. He kept advertising "stop the steal" rally on twitter. "It's gonna be wild" he goaded them. He absolutely is culpable as he continues to undermine America's faith in democracy. He's starting up his fundraising and rallying now to grift more money to pay his attorneys to help him escape accountability. Trump is never held accountable for reprehensible behavior and it's why he continues acting worse than a spoiled child! His parents dropped the ball. And republicans should have kept him in check. It's not a surprise trump thinks they are cowards. He's now embarking on his magical revenge tour to pay back those who were insufficient sycophants. Especially those who voted for his impeachment. He cares zero about the party he abused, or anyone who doesn't profit him. Biggs, Brooks and Gosar may be found to have helped inspire the deluded mob as well. Along with Junior and Rudy. Childcare in dealing with this lot! Hopefully sane Americans have learned from this debacle and will educate themselves before voting again.

The whole government? Even the nice lady at my local county office?

I do not discount local politicians, the mayor of the small city/town i live in will spew the lies out.
