Free speech does not cover threatening someone directly like that. There are plenty of grey areas, but when you have actual gallows behind you, are breaking into the building the person is in at the moment, and chanting to hang them, that's not going to be covered, that's criminal threats.

If the gallows were not a prop you would have somewhat of a point but to me obviously they are not constructed with hanging in mind. In other words the gallows thing is more of an appeal to emotion rather than logic.

Well that sense of futility extends to the entire storming of the capitol. Did they really hope to accomplish anything? I mean, what did they expect to happen? Donald to come strutting in with all the military following him? What did they hope to accomplish?

And suppose they had managed to stop the vote counting? Perhaps even postpone or even cancel the entire transition of power?

What would Donald have done then?

I don't think they planned to do anything spectacular, likely they were just going to do a little vandalism tearing things up and scare a few politicians perhaps. I doubt they were set up to take over the capital and hold it even but I would have to know if a lot of them brought weapons like rifles and shotguns and pistols in considerable amounts in order to resist police storming them. I am sure that the courts can figure out if they had what it took to take over things and etc. As for now all we have is a bunch of rumor mongers making suckers out of people selling a minor event for a lot of advertising dollars to anyone who wants to hate on Trump and his supporters.
I personally haven't watched much of this event at all because I knew that the media would likely make a mountain out of the molehill protest and they did acting like WWIII happened at the capitol and there was a mass murder in congress that wiped out 50 people. Instead we have........ a yawner of an event.

I'm still shaking my head at "prop" gallows. I didn't notice it at first but after I looked hard no carpenter in his right mind would make something that flimsy to hang a man from who likely weighs around 200 lbs (checking......) I was right he is 92KG or 202.

I think some Trump supporters did indeed attack the capitol. They were a small minority if people. We haven't had a single incident since then. These people were dumb and idiotic. I think you could even say domestic terrorism was involved. But they didn't kill anyone. And they didn't burn the capital down. They didn't blow anything up. They didn't shoot at anyone, shoot fireworks at anyone.

They all deserve to be prosecuted and I do t believe any of them thought they were going to overthrow the government. Yes it was a very bad thing. And I hope each and every person involved is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. But they in no way committed as much damagez mayhem, assaults, murder and attempted murder as the riots have done.

Nope.... I don't do carpentry as a trade now and have no interest in hanging anything especially sheetrock.
