And this is why I speak of American Christian right-wingers being under a great spiritual delusion.

Perhaps we should just fall in line with the great global reset and accept that Gaia is who we should focus on?

Good grief! It's not those on the Right falling for that stuff. You do know that, right?

I was only a teenager when I began to discern when people were just trying to get "a rise" out of me...and to ignore those attempts.

But actually, when, say, Hasbro Toys decides to rename "Mister and Mrs Potato Head" to "The Potato Family," they didn't do it with the intention of vilifying right-wingers. I doubt the executives at that meeting were rubbing their hands, grinning, and saying among themselves, "Boy, this will really annoy the Evangelicals! Let's do it!"
It is kinda weird that a party whose only purpose seems to be "owning the libs" imagines that everyone else is out to "own" them. I wonder if there's a term for reading one's own faults into the unrelated actions of others?

They aren't banning anything. They are not the government and they don't have to sell any particular book. Vote with your keyboard and buy elsewhere.

There's a field of double edged swords at the bottom of this quite slippery slope.

It wouldn't take much for them to ban the bible:

"Male and Female, He created them" is not LGBT friendly.
"No one comes to the Father but by Me" is not inclusive.
"He who believes not is condemned already" is inflammatory.
Religious scripture gets a pass. Just because.

I dont think so. Its always been this way: the bookseller decides for itself what it will or wont stock.

The only real trouble begins when the govt start telling stores what titles they must or cant sell.

Well hopefully there's a publisher who will still be willing to print/sell things major corporations are "cancelling" in the era of cancel culture.

As has been mentioned several times, Amazon is not a major publisher. They publish vanity books. And vanity books are mostly used as door stops.

Amazon is the major seller currently, but if such a seller won't pick up a publisher, then that publisher either goes under or elsewhere. Publishers not led by sheer principles of free speech would likely cave and no longer publish. If that's the case, someone else would need to be willing, knowing that Amazon, and other sellers who would follow suit, would not be an option. It's an intentional cornering of a market to squeeze out undesired (by the seller) publications. Amazon is big enough to coerce other smaller sellers to follow suit, or face the wrath of cancel culture themselves.

IOW, don't need the government to infringe on 1A when you can convenience major corporations, media, and the masses to do it for you.

Who is this "you"?

I have a friend that had a career in publishing. His statement on the subject was, "A good book will always find its buyers. If an author can only sell on Amazon, then that author probably doesn't have much of an audience."

Of course, when someone on the right does something to "troll" or "trigger" the left, the right cheers them on. In fact, many cited Trump's actions as acceptable because he was trolling the left.

The right engaged in cancel culture long before the left started doing it.

"You" is anyone who has influence over national marketing decisions in the context of literature and the availability of it.

We have been conditioned to shop at places like Amazon and Walmart. Some people stumble on a new book that interests them. When that "display" is repressed, via deliberate and bias manipulation of the seller, then those folks who would have purchased the book otherwise will never see it, but would need to be aware of it, and have a desire to seek it out. This becomes especially concerning if web search providers (ie: Google, DuckDuckGo, etc) start hindering the query results for certain literature.

"We don't want you searching for that...."

For example: "When Harry Became Sally" is not available on Amazon, out of stock at Powell's, but right now I can order through Books-A-Million. Watching to see if BAM cancels it.

That said "Socialists Don't Sleep" is still available via all three providers.

You will not convince me that most Conservatives are that helpless. If Conservatives were as helpless you make them out to be, Hillary Clinton would be starting her second term.

Did you know that I can order books written by David Horowitz without using Amazon? I know, crazy stuff. Horowitz has one book that explains how EX President Trump is going to win the 2020 election. Sounds fascinating. I think it's marked down. A great deal!

Publishers sell more than one title. Even more than one author. Even more than one genre.

And publishers drop titles all the time.

Whatever company published those titles will continue to publish its other titles and sell them through Amazon and other dealers.

And, no, Amazon cannot force smaller publishers to publish only what they publish. In fact, it works just the opposite. As Willie Keeler said, "You have to hit 'em where they ain't."
