  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Two sentences is a case? I asked you specifically which parts of the law you support and why. And which ones you don't and why.

You didn't mention anything in the law that you support not anything that you didn't.

You didn't say why you think the ideas you support are good and didn't say why the ideas you don't support are not good.

Two sentences really is nothing.
I have given your posts the answers they deserve.

I'm not surprised. You kicked the whole "left" idea making it sound like the proposals in the law had nothing to do with the left. You mocked the idea that the left would support such things.

And now you refuse to acknowledge that you would support such things.

So yes unless you can prove otherwise
, these ideas are supported by the left and supported by you.

I am not required to prove my stance to you. You can either engage in dialog or not, but you do not get to make demands of my time nor require I prove myself to you.

Nope. They steal it for a variety of reasons. None of which are worth escalating to a pitched gun battle in the streets. You strike me as someone whom is actually interested in self defense and would take classes to that effect. Have you ever taken a class were they treat self defense as anything less then deadly serious? Every one that I have ever attended (All two of them for guns I admit) have stressed that you should only bring a weapon into play when you feel all other options are exhausted.

What did they teach as other options - honest question.

I believe guns should be very heavily regulated and not readily available.

I feel exactly the same about abortions - which take more lives then guns

Mostly situation avoidance and running away. The example they gave was if some wants your wallet, give it to them and back away. Escalating a situation with a weapon should only be if you can't run away.

Perfectly valid. I had the same opinion when I was younger.

Do you not read the posts on this thread in support of the ideas in the law?

Which proposals in the law do you support? Which ones dont you support? And why?
So a couple of random people on a message board represent "the left"? Just because a couple of usernames think a law has good features doesn't mean that "the left" as a whole agrees with them. As it happens, I have a lot of issues with this law at first glance, but since it shows every indication of dying in committee, there is no real point in debating specifics.

I started carrying in 1982, I don't carry near as often as I did, but I can still hit a moving target at 100 yards (with a rifle). In the almost four decades I have worn a side arm I have never been mugged. I have been shot at (it's no fun), but could not return fire for safety reasons. In a civilian life I have had occasion to pull my weapon twice - one stopped the rape of a lady and the other stopped my car from being hijacked by a knife wielding hitchhiker I made the mistake of trying to help.

I concur with what you have been taught, with the exception of the suddenly's .

Best to you -

BTW - when I was younger I supported abortion - then I became a dad and my views on the issue changed with age.

Wow! You have had more occasion to use a weapon then me and I was in a war zone. I agree with you on the suddenly's.

Best to you -

You as well. Have a great weekend.

I was against it until I tried to convince an anti abortion group to support policies that reduce abortion. Then I started talking to choice advocates. It is, unfortunately, a complex problem.

Well, anectdotal stories supporting an agenda are rarely (if ever) true in my experience.
Perhaps not but I don't think he is supporting an agenda. If anything he is agreeing with my point. :)

Thank you for your service. Glad you came home. I hope you are healthy.

Well, well. We'll remember that the next time you want answers from one of us conservatives.

That's okay, we all know why you don't want to answer.

Well your the only person on the left that has said they had issues with the law. What issues did you have with it?

Which of them do you think the left really had problems with.

Not that they didn't think it would pass. Because you can like the bill and like the policies in it, but not actually bring it forward, because you believe it wouldn't pass.

So which of the policies in the law are just bad policies and the left would say so. Which ones would be a violation if the constitution?

Dude, I don't speak for the left, and neither do the members here. We don't have some sort of hive mind, but the fact that not a single other rep sponsored this bill, even the most radical members of the house, tell you all you need to know about how popular it is. The House passed plenty of bills they knew wouldn't get pass the Senate. That's how you show approval of the ideas in a bill.

No, I doubt that you do I'm afraid. That is why you keep getting our position so wrong.
