You realize the men in masks represent clones? She’s basically saying replacing him isn’t hard.

Oh, i just thought they were there as fashionable backup dancers or something. ^_^

For me, probably nothing except make a Valentine's Day recipe with my mom. Not sure what we're going to make yet.

I hope everyone has a multi-awesome Valentine's Day. :):purpleheart:

Thanks so much.

I finished my book. It was wonderful! I didn’t think I’d encounter a character who matched Darcy’s appeal but Teddy did. His steadiness and calm are very appealing. He knows how to keep his head.

Theodore is described as having blond hair, blue eyes, and chiselled features. He has dimples and is described by Samantha as handsome. He went to Yale and was on the crew team during his first year.

Now that’s a dreamboat.

Drinking is fine. I drink occasionally, though usually only with others. Drinking in excess is not fine. I would personally include getting drunk under that umbrella. Tipsy is alright. Outright drunk? No. It lowers your inhibitions too much and can lead you to sin easily where you never would have otherwise. Think of the story of Noah and his sons. He was drunk, and his behaviour caused both himself and Ham to sin. I think it's a cautionary tale. Though to be honest, I never really understood what Ham's sin in that story actually was. Maybe disrespect? I dunno.
I can appreciate that view. :D

You really shouldn't use fundamentalist to describe yourself, IMO. Use conservative instead. It has less negative connotations, especially in the secular world. People hear fundamentalist and think Islamic suicide bombers and Mormons with 10 wives.
I like 'traditional.' Conservative sounds political, tho I'm that too, but for my faith, traditional is probably the better word.

Ugh. I'm struggling with this so much right now with my crush, though the genders are reversed of course. What do you think constitutes "indulging", and how careful should I be when communicating with him? I would never tell him outright, but I feel like some of the things I do are telling him anyways. Unintentionally.

If it's reached a stage where you're putting off knuckling down with work (personal stuff, like art) to walk around in a daze fantasising about him instead, then you're indulging it. It's on the same levels as witchcraft at that point.

I think you'll be alright though. A year from now you'll be wondering what it was all about. God doesn't allow a stalwart follower to ruin their life for very long lol. They'll be a lesson in it somewhere and then you'll take the L and move on.

Same goes for the next one too.

Then the one you finally marry will slip down clean like mineral water on an antioxidant rich diet, and will offer you life and vitality. It won't debilitate you like all of these sugar-sodden, calorie dense, soda floats you're hooked on.

That's the difference. Seek water, not soda floats. Then you'll live a long and happy life and will still look young, even when you're 70 and beyond.

I’m reading a Christian book on sex and scratching my head. Why is the desire for physical intimacy downplayed or redirected to emotional or spiritual planes?

Why can’t they rest in the truth? The longing is physical. That doesn’t diminish the value of emotional and spiritual bonds.

B/c that physical desire should be rooted in emotional &/or spiritual planes. At least it should be. If it's not, you're doing it wrong.

I think it's a good thing that it's being downplayed for once. If you'd like a book that doesn't downplay it, I'm sure there's plenty

Traditionally, I think Christians have had an unhealthy approach to sex. It doesn't help when Augustine says it's obviously shameful on account that married couples do it in private. What? That's such a lame argument. How about, "Y'all two need to get a room because I'm trying to eat over here." That's all the reason one needs for doing it in private. Shameful? No.

I like the exercise shoving gives & the cool air can feel nice, but yes, it's not always fun

I find it the opposite. I feel like most Christians don't take it serious enough. "As long as I go to church on Sunday & am Christian in other ways, who cares if I sleep around? God won't judge me on that. It's a desire I have. God made it beautiful! Plus, I'm gonna get married someday anyways!!" :sleepy:

Exactly. God made it beautiful.

Yeah, maybe you're right. Still, Christianity has had a funky relationship with sex. It should be celebrated, instead of treating it like some concession God has made to human weakness, which is how Christianity has sometimes treated it. Plus, if you make it seem forbidden its appeal grows beyond reason. It's sex, let's not get carried away. Naps last longer and are more refreshing, lol.

Downplaying is the norm and most men aren’t focusing on emotions or spirituality when they’re being intimate with their partner. The elements are woven in the connection.

I'm just saying what I see.

I wouldn't know

But it's sad they're not focusing on emotion!! What the heck? No spirituality I can understand, but not emotion?!?!?!? The whole dumb thing should be emotional.

My experience, downplaying it isn't the norm. It's exactly the 180 opposite.

I agree and I’ve never met a man who thinks that way or says the same. If the longing for physical intimacy wasn't real you wouldn’t have a porn problem.

I find it the opposite. I feel like many Christians ignore its restrictions. Or at least don't bother trying to ignore its restrictions

Well, you are to commended for abstaining.

It isn’t celebrated. Few broach the subject along those lines. And there’s the idea you shouldn’t enjoy it.
