Mainstream media always criticizes America for having one of the worst COVID responses in the world. Personally, I'm very pleased with how the Trump administration responded to COVID and I have grave concerns for how the future Biden administration will shut down our country and attempt to rob us of our liberties, but that's besides the point.
When mainstream media criticizes the American response, they laud the "successful" response of other countries and China is always the first one to be mentioned. China. The most authoritarian, dictatorial government on the face of the planet. Who surveils its citizens. Who formerly taxed into poverty families that dared to have more than one child. Who determines whether or not it's legal for adult men to wear beards. China who quietly persecutes and murders religious minorities who are deemed to be anti-party.
China who physically barred its own citizens in apartment complexes and housing projects to enforce strict stay-at-home orders. China who went door to door in some cities taping up doors of private residences to enforce stay-at-home orders. China who encourages and rewards neighborly tattle-tale systems that set neighbor against neighbor. China who arrested citizens and took them to prison over violating lock-down or mask orders.
That China.
Mainstream media criticizes the American response and says that the Chinese response to control the virus has been successful.
Whenever we hold up the authoritarian regime of China as something to be lauded or emulated, something has gone horribly wrong in our thinking. Makes me wonder whether or not America's mainstream media isn't bought and paid for by someone on the other side of the planet.
So do you wish that America were more like China? Did China really have a successful COVID response?
