One of the reasons that experts are experts is that they refine their knowledge when new information becomes available. Sticking to a single belief no matter what is not a positive trait.

From what I've read about covid it is airborne.

I believe some experts may have believed that, for a short time. As was mentioned, after the proper research was done it was found not to be airborne but an aerosol transmission. Were the virus airborne, then masks would not work; masks can work, combined with social distancing, because it is an aerosol transmission.

Then aerosol is not the correct term -- I used it here because someone else did (I'm not a medical professional). What is known is that COVID does not stay suspended, instead it relies on water droplets than can remain suspended for only a short time and that are much larger than the virus.

70 something percent of all people that have had covid reported wearing a mask religiously and still got it. Contamination is hard to avoid in everyday situations for us normal people. I don't have boxes full of masks gloves and eye protection to throw away.

I'd be interested on seeing that survey -- at least in part because "self-reporting" is notoriously unreliable. People tend to not be completely honest in surveys about their own behavior and how it might have contributed to a negative event.

I'll have to study this more fully to give a thorough reply, but do keep in mind that masks have the potential to reduce the severity of infections even in those infected, since it reduces the total possible inoculum of the virus.

And the reported conclusions of this study run contrary to other studies that show that wearing face masks reduces transmission of respiratory viral infections. It would be very unusual if a face mask did not do the same for the Coronavirus.

Idk. I do know from all the ppe classes I've had to pay for over the years that osha wouldn't let me work an employee near a virus with only a surgical mask on. Respirators had to be worn to protect against a virus.

You know what works even better than a surgical mask when near someone with a virus? Wearing nothing. At least, that's what many on the right would have you believe.
