  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Something I have pondered. I think women tend to be more emotionally sensitive and realize many gay people can still fulfill their gender roles. Feminism has plenty of gay men who are perfectly willing to throw men's issues under the bus.

For men, sadly I think we think tend to think less and act out more. Male feminists more than female feminists often resort to threats of violence towards non-feminists.

Thats related to estrogen and reproduction.

Why was it abnormal that I used that word, though?

I don't know, language is an ever shifting phenomenon. There might be regional differences as well.

Not having enough guts to be weak and submissive in the right and at the right time, for the right purpose. Being too scared to be a servant leader. Needing to show off what little strength, power, or masculinity he has, instead of exhibiting power under control at all times. To truly protect and provide, he has to stand in the gap and lay down his life, not wave his fist around and shout orders. The world is upside down, my friend. Don't take your cues from it.

Well of course there are nuances. Being overly masculine can in fact give off weakness vibes.

Its similar to how Italians say la for females but not males.

Yeah, but even thought language changes the underlying contexts often do not.

Are you talking about androgynous behavior.

No, just us old guys reminding younger men that they haven't had the same range and measure of experience.

Of note is when it does not happen. For instance, the men at your local Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter will rarely, if ever, call another combat veteran a "kid," regardless of the age difference, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, or Iraq. An older combat vet might call a younger one, "son," but not "kid."

I wouldn't say all, but reproduction is a very important marker.

The Bible says woman is the image and glory of man.

Are you saying God made gender for reasons other than reproduction? I think masculinity and feminity reflect the image of God and my pastor was right when he said men are like steel and women are like a flower.

People say son as a joke but not daughter. Even in profanity.

I'm an atheist, I don't have much of an opinion on that. Just saying in an evolutionary sense, the reality of differences of reproduction between men and women have lead to different evolutionary strategies.

Do you think nature has third genders?

I believe that words like gay and people being boyfriend and girlfriend indirectly hint at physical relationships that only should exist between a husband and a wife. That is why I believe Christian morality.

Frequently an older man will use "son" as a rhetorical segue to a moment of informal mentorship. Women rarely use "daughter" in the same way, but I've heard it done.

I think nature is not so black and white. Some men have more feminine brains and women more masculine brains. Some women are even less neotenous looking (at least partly) compared to some men. I don't know the measurements but east Asian men may be overall less neotenous than Austrailian Aboriginal women.

I frequent a female incel sub, and some of them report to having masculine features. Such that they are often treated more like "men" and asked to move things around and whatnot. While some more graceful looking men can often be treated like women socially and experience greater concern for their problems.

Boyfriend and girlfriend are interesting.. guess it harkens back to the days when relatively older men and women married and stayed married.

By feminine, do you mean a connection to people who give birth and have eggs, or a flower symmetry?

Even neotonous men have a steel symmetry that masculine or high testerone women, who still have a certain flower symmetry.

I'm having a little trouble falling what you are trying to say.

Really in my mind feminine is really just "childlike" while masculine is more "parent" like.

Or you mean gender as a complex abstract complex?

Infertile people are still male or female because of their anatomy, regardless of sperm and eggs or giving birth.
