Wow. What if we used that judgement for everyone who is Orthodox but says stupid things. Denunciations are only used in extreme circumstances.

He comes off that way. We've got people over here, some influential, who say stupid things about whatever cause they care about. They're not always distanced from.

That is not a fair comparison. This is not "everyone" or just some chap who wears a BLM shirt or puts their flag on his or her avatar. This is someone who is cited on the BLM Wikipedia description as a leader in the movement.

There is a "True Scotsman Fallacy" that you are committing here and elsewhere. You are suggesting that you know better than more objective sources such as Wikepedia who is part of "the BLM movement". It seems rather convenient that when someone clearly identified with the movement says something you find embarrassing, you minimise their role.

actually, the police report from the officer who ordered the clearing said it didn't come from the president, and tear gas wasn't used. smoke grenades and pepper balls were.

Anyway, i think people are going the wrong way thinking about destroying images of Our Lord because it doesnt fit in with their ideals etc.

The Secret Service admitted to also using pepper spray, a tear gas (EDIT: and the whole distinction is a little silly - "the police said the lachrymator agents were delivered by ball projectiles rather than sprayed from a canister, checkmate"). And, again, the clergy were expelled so the president could have his photo op at the church. The buck stops there.

Shaun King is a shameless grifter that nobody likes who always finds a way to insert himself into the conversation. Every actual activist hates him.

Well, yes and no. All the "progressives" are suddenly trying to distance themselves from him and he has caused a lot of problems for them along the way.

But this "shameless grifter" that "every actual activist hates" is also the very same person who Bernie Sanders chose to speak to introduce and launch Bernie at his presidential campaign kick-off rally in Brooklyn. And Bernie came very close to getting the nomination at certain points.

The progressives and BLM supporters are pooh-poohing him now so that people do not get too alarmed but he carries a lot of influence in the nuttier wing of the party- which is on the move now.

He might be on the fringe but that is not much comfort as we see the fringe more and more in control every day.

I find it funny that many of the icons found in your Church and mine (and surely others, but these are the two I know best in terms of the icons they produce) feature a Jesus who is noticeably darker than Shaun King himself. Go figure. Perhaps he's feeling a bit inadequate, in terms of his BLM cred, especially if it's true what gzt says about many of those people not liking him? Hmm...

Regardless, this is clearly not the way to handle that. This guy may present himself as some kind of Christian, but I can't think of anything more anti-Christ than to advocate for the destruction of religious art that I deem to be 'too white' for me personally. Apparently someone forgot to tell Mr. King that Christianity isn't about his personal preferences or personal racial theology (a point he shares in common with the white supremacist Christians he's talking about, oddly enough).

as someone who has been gassed with actual CS gas on more than one occasion, I can say it's not a silly distinction. it's not the same kind of irritant. and, again, I am pretty sure the people people were cleared before the President chose to make his photo op, especially since part of the church was on fire. you might be able to make the argument that the President took advantage of what was already done, but that's not the same as saying the clergy were cleared for him. and yes, the buck stops with him.

it's not just my interpretation. the Father didn't become flesh and therefore has no materiality.

well, it actually does matter as far as He is depicted, since He assumed a particular ethnicity at a particular time. so, while it's true that there is only one human nature, it's wrong to depict Christ just any way you want.

Yes, but, i have seen Jesus depicted very differently depending on the location and culture.

The difference would only matter to those like that BLM leader.

All God is concerned about is what is in a persons heart and soul.
