When the spirit returns to God, why do you believe that it is in heaven? The scripture says this:

(Old Testament | Ecclesiastes 12:7)

7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

No mention of heaven there.
So according to Mormons or really just you---our spirts are going to Hell with God?

What a waky Religion!

...And where in the Bible does it say that the Bible is the only authority?

Or was that "final authority" added upon by official decree?

I guess you saw this one coming by now---

Isa_8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Not really:

(New Testament | 1 Peter 3:18 - 20)

18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;
20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

That doesn't say what most people think it says!! Not when you take it apart and truly read it---It is talking about the spirits (those souls, people, that lived at the time of Noah. For it was Jesus, through Noah, who preached to those people for 120 years before the flood. For without Jesus we are slaves and prisoners of sin bound to Satan through sin.

Actually I believe most people agree with Jesus when He talked about Lazarus and the rich man:

(New Testament | Luke 16:22 - 25)

22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

This is spirit prison.

This is a parable, not a doctrine on the state of the dead. I don't take the bible's teachings by a popularity vote. It is what it is.

Mat_13:34 All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them:

Jesus was clear about what this parable was about

Luk 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
Luk 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
Luk 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

The Pharisees were standing by, this was for their benefit, as He did raise a Lazarus from the dead, and they still did not believe. BTW, after being raised from the dead, Lazarus, nor any of the other approx. 12 raisings from the dead throughout the OT and NT, ever said a thing about the "afterlife." Not one.

Prison---that is a new abode for us when we are going to heaven?

Like with the Catholic purgatory?

:

Seems you want to the One True Church claim but borrow aspects, if not names from other Christian sources.

What a wacky Religion!

I believe it was a real event. Jesus didn't mention names in parables. Luke 16:31 is just one of the things Jesus was teaching in this story. He was also teaching about the results of those who are not charitable to their neighbors.

He only mentioned the one name, precisely because He did raise a Lazarus and they still did not believe. It is a parable, He always spoke in parables in public..

He didn't always speak in parables in public. The sermon on the mount is not a parable. In fact much of what He said was not parables.

You are proving part of the Mormon Article of Faith which goes-----and hope to be able to endure all things

You move on without enduring such things as a simple discussion.

So much for your false hope.

And that is why the Mormon AofF says "we hope to be able endure to the End"?

Follow one aspect or the other. Endure to the End or we hope to be able to endure to the End
Bible truth verse Mormon Aof F.

And do you think God's Divine Nature He will give to you free and clear?
You can partake of it [like the verse says] not supposedly claim it as your own.
When we partake of His divine nature does that make us divine?

You are the king of avoiding answering to the insertion. So don't talk.

Now, what is your insertion, and I will answer it.
Go back and read the thread---I am not your secretary.

And you jump into the discussion, without having a clue what was said,

I understand it as I have read over fifty NDE books. Communication is very different in the spirit world as is time, and dimension. Anything to reduce the torment even a little if possible would be great for those being in torment.

It is important to have HOPE:

(New Testament | 1 Corinthians 13:13)

13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

NDE are totally depended on the believes of those involved. The Hindu has NDE's totally different from a Christian. As SDA my 2 NDE had nothing except a sense of peace and I felt I was in His presences and in His arms. Then everything went black. I do not believe in going to hell or heaven immediately upon death. Those that do have experienced NDE's reflecting their believes. All of which are called Near Death Experience---no one has had their head cut off and come back to say a thing. Only those experiencing oxygen deprivation and pilots have had them when flying too high. Mine were oxygen deprivation---I went into resp. failure twice during surgery. And there was that notorious one by a child that later confessed that he and his father made it all up.
