It garnered the “racist” label because it only banned Chinese Nationals from entering our fair land. Infected Americans or Europeans (either passing through, or coming over from Europe) were free to spread the infection because we had no “travelers quarantine”.

If he would have done the lockdown here sooner, then he'd be blamed for fear-mongering and attempting to distract from the impeachment hearings.

Besides, China is where the virus originated from, so it made sense to ban travel from there. Doing otherwise to please the haters and attempt to keep them from playing the race card (their favorite card) would have been irresponsible.

This is the kind of post I'd expect to see if there were no actual facts to back up the point that the post wishes to push.

And a response filled with links to articles to one-sided hateful views toward the man they're reporting against is the type of post I expect from someone who bases their views on their own hate.

Such as shutting down travel from the country where the virus originated from, only to be labeled as "racist" by his haters--the very same haters who now say he didn't do it soon enough?

He was told that stopping travel from China would not stop the virus, and it didn't. He could have ramped up test kits, masks, ventilators. Any supplies at all. The CDC warned him, WHO warned him.

His response was to stop Chinese citizens from coming into the country. Our own citizens coming from China didn't even have to wait in quarantine.

Sorry, I am not giving him any credit for even that action.

Not sure why you'd bring it up, given that I didn't do anything of the sort.

And if he locked down all travel from everywhere it would have been seen as fear-mongering and racist, but it would have worked at slowing the virus getting to us. Note I said slowing, because evidence shows it was in our country by the time he banded travel from China.

Yes, I'm always suspicious of countries that have like stair step statistics. It seems their testing/death stats may not be ongoing, so have no new cases then a surge when they do report. I don't think the answer is for the U.S. to slow down testing, but we may be comparing apples to oranges.

In a speech on Thursday at Owens and Minor, a medical supply distributor located in Allentown, PA, President Donald Trump wondered whether testing for Covid-19 coronavirus is “overrated.” He then proceeded to say, “And don’t forget, we have more cases than anybody in the world. But why? Because we do more testing.”

Next, he clarified: “When you test, you have a case. When you test, you find something is wrong with people. If we didn’t do any testing, we would have very few cases.”

Trump: Without Doing Covid-19 Coronavirus Testing ‘We Would Have Very Few Cases,’ Here Is The Reaction

The anti-Trump crowd doesn't care if it would have helped to slow the spread of the virus. They would have (and continue to) focus on the fear-mongering and racist part of their view. Even now when the country is beginning to open up again, their focus is on how many people have the virus and die each day rather than "flattening the curve", which used to be their criteria for loosening restrictions. Now they salivate over every new death as an opportunity to blame Trump.

I like how you know what “would have happened” based on things that didn’t happen, is that a Deluxe Magic Eight Ball®? (Or just wild speculation?)

The moves the President has made are the ones he thought would make himself look the best.
Getting ahead of the Coronavirus would have been the way to go, but he chose other options and we all lost.

The USA, with only 5% of the world’s population has had 31.9% of the “confirmed cases”.

Tell us all what a “big win” this is.

When hospitals and emergency rooms are packed and everyone you know knows someone who has been infected it will be difficult to keep the lid on.

Even Trump's ardent supporters, who tend to believe everything he says, will be unable to deny the truth--and the truth will hit them between the eyes much sooner than those who tend to believe Dr. Fauci or Governor Cuomo--because they won't be refusing to wear masks, denying the virus exists, and neglecting to social distance.

If the pandemic gets out of hand, I expect my red, red state to start turning purple or even blue. Listening to Trump's speech about fast tracking vaccines on livestream from our local conservative TV station, I was shocked to hear his fans writing about "never getting a vaccine," "constitutional rights being violated," "stop developing the vaccine," etc.

I try not to be baited, but I wound up posting a message, "I and my family will get the vaccine to protect ourselves from all of you who prefer to get infected and infect others."

Happy as I was to read them all getting angry at Trump, I don't delude myself--they will vote for him anyway...if they survive the illness.

When Trump acts like he is the President of the US and not just his base, I will be giving him slack. Right now, he is not giving this enough of his attention and is calling victory too soon. Calling for the states to open up before they even meet the criteria his team set up is my biggest issue.

And flattening the curve as never the criteria for loosening restrictions.

How could the number having the virus be 10 the number of positive test results? Sounds to me like Trump is simply saying if you take more shots you score more goals. If someone else is not taking as many shots as you are they are not likely to score the number of goals that you score.

Probably many if not most go unreported?
And thought they had a simple cold or flu.

Your “mind-reading skills” need some calibration.
I would have been delighted if President Trump had had the wherewithal to rise to the challenge presented by this pandemic.
He could have shown us the quality of his mettle; oh, wait, he has!
I wish ye “Godspeed” in defending the indefensible.

Given that the virus was already here in the US by then (brought over from non-Chinese coming from China and from Europe) his "Chinese travel ban" was irrelevant and useless.

Gee, thanks for all those liberal sources to illustrate what type of "truth" we're to believe.
"Liberal sources"? Heck, most of the time news outlets are merely REPEATING trump's words verbatim (you DO realize there are usually video tapes of him saying all sorts of really stupid stuff, don't you?).
