It was a practical joke. You were the first to realize I was being facetious about honesty and humility.

This is the internet and the subject is Donald Trump, there are no comments you could make that are so silly that they would be safely realized as a joke.

Very true. And very sad.

I disagree. They know it's a strain of corona virus. The semantics show Trump doesn't seem to care what it's called, "germ or whatever". Hard to say. Sometimes Trump doesn't seem to read very well and he covers his mistakes ad lib with comments that try to hide his disabilities. This is more likely why he says he doesn't know if anyone knows what it is. It's a universal disclaimer.

Donald Trump is probably the poorest educated President in US history. He has admitted as much in saying that he doesn't like to read and he certainly doesn't like to be either informed or to be contradicted by experts. He trusts only his own uninformed hunches. However he is expert at manipulating people. Unfortunately most of them are quite unaware that they are being manipulated.

Seems to me he's informed as he needs to be, and while your blaming his success on manipulation only instead of owning up and realizing he's just darn good at what he does, who is the unaware you say he manipulates and what are those manipulations? Or are we just making things up...again?

I'll say this much for Trump. He has certainly proven that anyone can become president.

Yep, anyone with a good business sense...as least that's what part of the majority thought when they elected him, and they were right. he's doing just as some of us expected, a great job.

But he wasn't elected by a majority of the people but by a majority of the electoral college.

As JackRT pointed out, Trump did not get the popular vote. That went to H. Clinton.

And Trump's approval ratings have never gone above 50%. The numbers are very telling: United States presidential approval rating - Wikipedia

(I'm also not sure why people think that Trump even has a "good business sense". He was largely born into his wealth.)

And further to that, apparently most other countries share that view: A majority of Canadians have a low opinion of Trump’s America, as do many people worldwide: survey

A comparison with numbers from Obama-era polling illustrates just how far America’s stock has fallen — 65 per cent of Canadians had expressed a favourable view of the U.S. at the end of Barack Obama’s tenure as president in 2016, but that dropped to 43 per cent last year and 39 per cent in this year’s survey.

It’s a pattern that’s consistent with the vast majority of 25 countries surveyed. Only three countries expressed a more positive view of Trump’s U.S.A. compared to Obama’s U.S.A., namely Russia, Kenya and Israel.

Frankly I find the whole thing alarming.

I want to thank you for this response. The thing is, I knew that at the time. I'm just so sick and tired of the nonsense, I think it was just some way of venting.

How can someone learn anything when they view any attempt to teach them as an insinuation that they're dumb? Maybe he's dyslexic and developed this act as a means of protection.

You can't make this stuff up...

Trump on Coronavirus: "I'm Not Sure Anybody Even Knows What It Is"; "You Can Call It A Germ, You Can Call It A Flu"

The other thing that's nice and the one thing that has come out, and I learned this, again, it was reaffirmed by President Xi last night in my conversation, the young people are really, this is an incredible phenomenon, but they are attacked, successfully attacked to a much lesser extent by this pandemic, by this disease. This whatever they want to call it. You call it a germ, you can call it a flu, you can call it a virus. You know, you can call it many different names. I'm not sure anybody even knows what it is, but the children do very well. (my emphasis)

I don't think Trump is unintelligent about everything. I do think he needs to do his job and let others do theirs. He has virtually no medical knowledge so he should let Dr. Fauci speak to the medical aspect of the situation. I am alarmed and appalled that he told Pence to not return phone calls to governors who are "unappreciative". People are dying. Resources are short. Leaders do not have time to praise Trump for 5 minutes when there are 200 people waiting for a ventilator. I think the people around him know exactly what he is doing and they are put out with him. I still can't believe we had to choose between Hillary and Donald for president out of all the people in this country! JMO
