  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You really should realize by now, just saying it simply does not make it true, answer the questions, prove it.

It's getting very hard to take anything you say seriously, but here is your chance to fix that.
NYC fined Trump for racist behavior over his real estate rentals . That part of the story is true . I live in NYC. I honestly don’t remember if he or his father were slumlords as that was over 40 years ago . His recent toxic behavior shows he hasn’t changed he’s just added Hispanics and Muslims to his racebating activities.

he’s also not allowed to run any charities because of his history of being a scam artist with them

No, "we" are not. Someone said...

... and I have two questions: Who has been harmed/assaulted? And who did the harm/assaulting?

So far, I've gotten heaps of pearl-clutching and moralizing but no specifics. This, btw, in spite of for, now, the fourth time.

I listed a whole bunch of ways in which evangelicals have imposed harm on society. Do you want specific instances?

I'm astonished that Newsweek would put out an article like this.
Actually, I'm not. Considering their bias: Newsweek - Media Bias/Fact Check

What a lazy cop-out. There's nothing fake here. The article starts out with a picture of this guy's tweet. He's a kook, yet Trump chose to have him in the White House for a religious ceremony.

Take your pic. It doesn't take alot of work to find Trump's dirt, just a little bit of fingers on the keyboard in Google.

Frankly, I don't care anymore if you take me seriously or not. You have demonstrated yourself to be an unreasonable person who lives in the sort of alternative reality that characterizes many of Trump's religious supporters, which this discussion was originally addressing.

I found a few more articles to add to your list.

I see, Fire Dragon is going way back to dig up his dirt. Glad my past behavior has been forgiven. Seems some Christians here are showing all their colors in these Trump threads

And what is that recent Toxic behavior to which you refer?

Thanks for the info.

Problem with those, are the judges as prejudice as some of you here? And is he just settling with some to get them off his back when there never really was wrong doing? Like it or not, those are real possibilities and though I don't know the details to all that, because of the way Democrats have acted over the years, it all goes back to the "Cry Wolf thing...are they legit or Trumped up?

You seemed to care enough to finally show us the money. :)

An honest question, do you expect God to forgive you of your sin? If so, are you not familiar the scripture that indicates God won't forgive our sins if we don't forgive others?

I do not believe in God as you understand it. I believe in an impersonal, or transpersonal, Absolute.

Keep in mind that when you're hearing from Trump's "religious supporters" in the News & Current Events, or Discussion and Debate, or any of the Political sections of this site, the discussion is going to be centered around politics rather than religious or spiritual aspects of an issue.

Is there really a difference anymore? It's all Evangelipublicans to me. For some people, politics and religion are one in the same, it seems.

This guy has actually been in the White House to "lay hands on" Trump.

Usually when Donald "lays hands" on someone, they qualify for #metoo.

Turnabout is fair play, I suppose...

So where is God when these "religious upporters" deal with the political rather than religious or spiritual aspects?

Waiting out in the hall until such time as He is relevant to the issue?

That's heavy, Dude, but it doesn't answer my question, unless that is to say, what the bible says about God/forgiveness is not true and you have created your own pretend God?

I'm asking if that's a fact and if not can you answer the original question?

Conservative pastor says Jesus would have "beat the crap" out of John Bolton

I'm astonished at the kind of "Christian spiritual advisors" that hang around Donald Trump.

On second thought... no, I'm not.

Is there really a difference anymore? It's all Evangelipublicans to me. For some people, politics and religion are one in the same, it seems.

There hasn't really been a distinct difference between evangelicalism and conservativism in American politics, but it has become much more pronounced in the last four years since Donald Trump started his political pandering to devout conservatives. Gone are the solemn days of "Character does matter. You can't run a family, let alone a country without it. How foolish to believe that a person who lacks honesty and moral integrity is qualified to lead a nation and the world" (James Dobson). In the last four years, the "Character does matter" conviction was replaced with "I voted for a President, not a pastor," "I didn't vote for Trump because he was a choir boy," and "No one is sinless and perfect."

That's not a fair perspective on my views. I looked at the evidence and that's my conclusion. Nothing else in my mind explains the plurality of religious experiences. It is, rather, theists who have made up a pretend God.

I can remember Arlen Specter and other Republicans that weren't in the pocket of the Christian Right, but that was over a generation ago. John McCain was probably the last of those sorts of Republicans.
