My knowledge of the Father's Word is at best below average.

There was a period of some 20 years where I didn't grow in His knowledge.

Yes, I am a sinner saved by grace, I am totally dependent on Him.

Dear Charles: The vast dimensions of our Father are past finding out. Just when one thinks they have grasped all there is of Him, new points of glory break like waves into our wee understanding.

Growing into Him comes as we hear His voice and by His great draw awaken to expanse of new horizons.

All of us are broken lost sinners in dire need of ephphatha without which we remain deaf, blind and dumb.

Salvation is in the present continuous tense of past, present, and future.

I certainly agree the vast dimensions of our Father are past finding out.

I disagree with how we grow in Him, that is, if hearing His voice is not by the study of His Word.

Dear Charles: You can study His word till you are green, but studying His word is NOT hearing His Voice!

Do you know what dianoigō means Charles?

Then opened He their minds that they might understand the Scriptures.

The only direction I have ever received from God was through the enlightenment of the Holy Spirit through reading His Word.

If you are hearing His voice any other way, you have mistaken His voice for another.

Dear Charles: I have poured over the Scriptures for 62 years in my 20 + translations. I also know how to say bah as one who is a little sheep of His.

My sheep hear My Voice.

I will only take direction from God through His Word. If you think that is not the only way, that is between you and God.

Although I will advise, that is not a wise choice!

Let me tell you one the experiences I've had and how it happened.

Some 15 years ago I was approached by a deacon in the church and he said that one day he could see me as a teacher. I laughed and said, the Lord can find much that me to teach His Word. I passed it off.

A few weeks later the pastor approached me and said the Lord had laid his heart to speak to me about teaching a Sunday School class, please pray about it. I though surely the Lord has not chosen me for this. I passed it off again.

The very next night as I was reading my Bible, the Lord made it very clear to me, I want you to teach this class. That was when I knew these men were sent by God and He confirmed it through His Word.

I believe God confirms His will for the chosen through His Word.

I will not accept anything else as coming from God!

Dear Charles: Evidently you will not require the Master of ephphatha to open your blind eyes and deaf ears.

It is wonderful to know the Christ is no longer necessary to open one's mind to understand the Scriptures.

dianoigō is no longer required

I knew the contents of Isa. 59, I have read it many times.

I knew the turning away in vs.1 resulted in an eternal turning away.

I assume others did also!

The present action in vs.1 is a past action as we speak. It is now an eternal action.

That's why I referred to it an eternal turning away.
If you were wrong, would you admit it?

You are limiting yourself.
God has many ways of speaking to us other than Bible reading.
None of the biblical prophets had a Bible. None.

I was wrong in assuming! I didn't even think beforehand this would be nit-picked.

From now on I see that I will have to pinpoint the exact meaning of anything concerning eternal. I will have to explain the context of all scripture surrounding it.

So that's what I will do, and will require the same from you.

But we have it now.

That's why He no longer speaks to man in an audible voice, or sends angels to give us messages.

He uses His Word to speak to us.

Sure you can be at Wal-mart and feel the impulse to witness, that is the Lord.

I'm speaking of personal choices in life, and the goals and direction the Lord has set for you.

1 Samuel 3:3-10
The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house of the Lord, where the ark of God was. 4 Then the Lord called Samuel.
Samuel answered, “Here I am.” 5 And he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”
But Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” So he went and lay down.
6 Again the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”
“My son,” Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.”
7 Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord: The word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him.
8 A third time the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”
Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. 9 So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!”
Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

I must have hit a nerve. What is that about?
You accused us of using verses out of context. I showed you that you do the same thing.
And now you claim that I am nitpicking? - lol

I thought you said you weren't a Cessationist. ???
You sure talk like one.

Lots of people hear God's audible voice.
Just because you can't doesn't mean it never happens.

The Bible says we can hear God's voice.
Yet you claim we can't hear God's voice because we have a Bible.
What's wrong with this picture?

Does God want you to have a relationship with him, or a book?

Well this explains everything!

I now understand.
I thought I already gave you this series link.

Brad Jersak - Tuning in to the God Who Speaks - Part 1 ("Call, and I will answer, Really!") - February 8, 2013
Brad teaches that anyone can learn to hear God's voice through the simple practice of "listening prayer." Those who begin to listen will find out that God's love will heal wounded hearts and empower them to heal this broken world.

Sounds like a cult to me!

Does SM, Laz, and FL also hear the audible voice of God?
