For the past 75 years (since World War II) nations have operated on the MAD theory. That is, no one can win a war for fear of total destruction, for if one country sends a nuclear weapon, so will the other and therefore its a lose-lose situation where both countries suffer total destruction, called Mutual Assured Destruction.
But some have theorized that mind-set is about to end. Why? Because more and more nations are getting the nuclear capability so as not to be left out. Therefore the chance that a rogue nation will make a careless decision it increased dramatically. But let's pray that it does not happen. I don't think it will, since logically a nation knows that they will not survive if nuclear capable nations turn on them. Therefore, just like we're seeing now, the strategy used seems to depend on smaller range missiles designed to take out particular enemies at specific locations. Of course, that's also dangerous, and some nation may decide to retaliate in a more widespread way.
I'm interested in what others here think of the role of modern technology. I believe its growing so fast that it may soon make the MAD philosophy obsolete and the onset of drone technology may overtake it. In other words, guns replaced arrows, tanks replaced horses, and advanced technology will replace nuclear weapons. Right now, our country, Russia, China and others are racing to develop them.
But God still has everything under control, and only He can decide their fates. All plans must develop so that the final outcome, as described in Revelation, Daniel, Ezekiel, and others must occur.
