No. It was future for the 1st century Jews prior to 70ad.

Futurists are implying that Jesus was a False Prophet by putting Matt 24:6 2000yrs or more in the future instead of 1st century.

It is Futurists interpretation of Scriptures that keep the Jews blinded to this very day and perhaps even for another 2000yrs.

Matt 24:6 is talking about the 7 yrs Jewish Wars starting in 66AD [Jewish Rebels takeover Jerusalem and Masada]

Matthew 24, Mark 13 and Luke's Temple/Jerusalem Discourses harmonized
Matt 24:6 Wars rumors of Wars

Matthew 24:6
“Yet ye shall be being about to be hearing battles and tidings of battles, be seeing! be not be being troubled<2360>, for is binding to becoming,
but not as yet the End<5056>
Mark 13:7
“Yet whenever ye should be hearing battles and tidings of battles, be seeing! be not be being troubled for is binding to be becoming,
but not as yet the End<5056>
Luke 21:9
“Yet whenever ye should be hearing battles and tumults<181>, no may be being frightened<4422>, for is binding these to be becoming,
but not immediately the End<5056>
==================================
Ezekiel and Hosea mention it:

Eze 20:38 - “I will purge the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against Me; I will bring them out of the country where they dwell, but they shall not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD.
Hos 5:2 - The rebels are knee-deep in slaughter. I will discipline all of them.

This verse in Dan 8 could also be talking about the 1st century Jewish Rebels?

Dan 8:23 - “In the latter part of their reign, when rebels have become completely wicked, a fierce-looking king, a master of intrigue, will arise.

I listened to a video on Preterism and it was very convincing, but when you read prophecy, Preterism leaves too many unanswered points. I can understand how some could be partial Preterists, but not full Presterism. But the danger seems to be anti-Semitism.

BABerean - you ask this question often, but I'm not grasping what you're getting at? What point are you attempting to make with this? You presented this as an argument to what CL posted - but your commentary agrees with what she posted. So I'm confused.

If you watch the video by Dr. Kelly Varner it should make sense.

Once Stephen was stoned - Jesus' followers were purged from Jerusalem - spreading the Gospel throughout all of the "world" (the Roman kingdom).

Sorry, but that's just not true. And Dan. 9:27 is not the time of Jesus. He's already been cut off/crucified. Consider the fact that Paul was still "Saul" when Stephen was stoned in Jerusalem. Read Acts 15. That council was held in Jerusalem, and Paul and Barnabas were there. The headquarters for the Church was in Jerusalem.

Are you saying that because, as preterists, we don't believe that modern Israelites (no matter their allegiance to God or not) are God's "chosen people"? Is that anti-Semitism?

I believe God loves ALL of His creation - and is "not willing that any should perish" and that He leaves the 99 to go after the lost one. So I'm not sure how that is hateful to not believe in favoritism.

Replacement Theology, supersessionism: Christians are God's Jews. The church is true Israel.

"Replacement theology" or "supersessionism" is the true gospel of Jesus Christ.

John Hagee and others who oppose "replacement theology" are rank false teachers whom apostle Paul condemns as "fallen from grace, severed from Christ". (Gal 4:10; 5:4; Rom 7:1-7; Jer 31:31 + Heb 8:6-13)

DON'T CALL US ANTI-SEMENTIC

The vast majority of churches believe and teach "replacement theology". Churches that oppose "replacement theology" including John Hagee, are in the minority. Those who believe in Replacement Theology love the state of Israel and are among her strongest supporters! Just because we do not feel modern Israel is any more special in the eyes of God than Canada or the USA, we defend and support the only democracy in the Middle east and consider Israel our primary ally in the world of Islamic Nuclear Jihad and terrorism. We believe that Israel was granted legal title to the historic promised land through the Balfour Declaration (1917) and the League of Nations "Mandate for Palestine" of December 1922. We believe that "Palestinians" is a fictitious title for a "people" that never existed in history, except for the nation from which it owes its origin: Philistines (ie. Goliath) who are a long extinct nation. We do not believe Israel is an occupier or "Apartheid State". We are neither "far-left" or "progressive" and condemn "Israel Apartheid Week" as a delusional pack of lies. We do not believe Israel is a "cursed nation". We oppose those who boycott Israel and prefer Israeli made products over anything made in Muslim countries because of their high quality. In fact, we admire and applaud how well Israel treats those in Gaza and the West Bank, given the number of terrorist attacks Muslims launch upon the peace loving, hard-working civilian Jewish population. We reject the "two state solution" of Dividing Israel up into a militarily indefensible nation because the Koran is the problem. Those living in the West Bank and Gaza Strip already have the "two state solution" provided for in the "Mandate for Palestine"… the entire nation of "Jordan"! SO DON'T CALL US ANTI-SEMETIC. It makes you look dumb and uninformed. Like all Christians we believe all Jews, Muslims and unbelievers are lost until they believe Jesus rose from the dead, repented and are immersed in water for the remission of their sins… and by the way, Jesus was a Jew NOT a Palestinian. Jesus was born a Jew and lived as a Jew, keeping the Law of Moses perfect and sinless. IT ANGERS US THAT JEWS REFUSE TO ACTUALLY READ THE NEW TESTAMENT. But we still love Israel and support her as a democratic nation!

  • Idealism: (also called the spiritual approach, the allegorical approach, the nonliteral approach, and many other names) in Christian eschatology is an interpretation of the Book of Revelation that sees all of the imagery of the book as symbols.
  • Partial Preterism: Partial preterism holds that most eschatological prophecies, such as the destruction of Jerusalem, the Antichrists, the Great Tribulation, and the advent of the Day of the Lord as a "judgment-coming" of Christ, were fulfilled either in AD 70 or during the persecution of Christians under the Emperor Nero. The Second coming and the resurrection of the dead, however, have not yet occurred in the partial preterist system.
Millennialism:
  • Amillennialism: "no millennium", rejects the theory that Jesus Christ will have a thousand-year-long, physical reign on the earth. The amillennial viewpoint holds that the thousand years mentioned in Revelation 20 is a symbolic number, not a literal description; that the millennium has already begun and is identical with the current church age.

Which part isn't true - all of what I'd posted?

I realize Paul was still "Saul" when Stephen was stoned in Jerusalem (and I've read Acts 15 quite a few times). I'm not sure what point you're trying to make by bringing that up. How does that information contradict what I'd posted? I didn't mean that Jerusalem was left vacant of Jewish followers of Jesus in 34 A.D. - just that there was a scattering out of Jerusalem and taking the Gospel to other areas within the Roman empire at that time due to the increased persecution. I shouldn't have used the word "purged" because that does imply an emptying.

Acts 8:1 ~ Saul was in full agreement with Stephen's murder. At that time, the church in Jerusalem began to be subjected to vicious harassment. Everyone - except the apostles - was scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria.

Replacement Theology that believes that there will be no future redemption for Israel, to me is anti-Semitism.

Are all Anglicans Preterist?
We don't believe in *replacement* - but continuation. The early church (the faithful remnant) was Jewish - and I believe that's important to recognize.

Redemption was for everyone. God only has/had ONE plan for redemption for all in Christ.

ALL Christians - actually - are "preterist" because we ALL believe in Jesus as the promised Messiah (and that's fulfillment of Scripture). There are different degrees of preterism (full being heterodox as it denies a physical resurrection). So - in answer to your question - yes, all Anglicans are preterist.

Why does Preterism not believe in the second coming? I don't understand that at all. Is this heaven and hell combined?

There are different degrees of preterism (full being heterodox as it denies a physical resurrection). So - in answer to your question - yes, all Anglicans are preterist.

Are Catholics preterist?

Replacement Theology that believes that there will be no future redemption for Israel, to me is anti-Semitism.

Who is replacing the one seed, with the many seeds in Galatians 3:16?

Who is replacing the children of the promise, with the children of the flesh in Romans 9:8?

Who is replacing the word "remnant" in Romans 9:27, with the word "all"?

Who is attempting to change the "manner" of salvation in Romans 11:26, into the "timing" of salvation?

Who is replacing the "son" who is the "heir" to the land in Matthew chapter 21, with those who reject Him as the "chief cornerstone"?

Those who often use the term "Replacement Theology" against others, are often the one most guilty of the offense in the scripture above.

The time for taking the Gospel to all races of people is now.

1Ti_1:4 nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith.

Tit_3:9 But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless.

Not sure what you are accusing, but I'm not doing any of that.

Amills are not in the minority. Catholics are Amill, and the largest denomination. There are billions.
I am not a RC. I don't know what their view of Amill or Preterism is......If they view 1st century Jerusalem in Revelation 18, then we share that in common....

Luke 19:43
"That shall be arriving<2240> Days upon thee and thy enemies shall be about-casting upon thee seige-works to thee, and they shall be about-compassing <4033> thee, and shall be pressing thee every-which-place"

Revelation 18:8
Thru this, in One Day, shall be arriving<2240> the stripes/blows of Her, death and sorrow and famine. And in fire she shall be being burned, that strong Lord, the GOD, the one-judging her.

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD
Proof that Matthew 24 was fully fulfilled in 70 AD!

Rapture refuted

The day on which Titus encompassed Jerusalem, was the feast of the Passover ; and it is deserving of the very particular attention of the reader, that this was the anniversary of that memorable period in which the Jews crucified their Messiah ! At this season multitudes came up from all the surrounding country, and from distant parts, to keep the festival. How suitable and how kind, then, was the prophetic admonition of our LORD, and how clearly he into futurity when he said "Let not them that are in the countries enter into Jerusalem." Luke xxi. 21.

Nevertheless, the city was at this time crowded with Jewish strangers, and foreigners from all parts, so that the whole nation may be considered as having been shut up in one prison, preparatory to the execution of the Divine vengeance ; and, according to Josephus this event took place suddenly ;
thus, not only fulfilling the predictions of our LORD, that these calamities should come, like the swift-darting lightning" that cometh out of the east and shineth even unto the West," and " as a snare on all of them (the Jews) who dwelt upon the face of the whole earth " (Matt. xxiv. 27, and Luke xxi 35,) but justifying, also, his friendly direction, that those who fled from the place should use the utmost possible expedition.
