People who are determined to hurt others will find a way. Whether its through guns, violence, drunk driving, drug and food contamination, tampering with Halloween candy, or bullying. There are endless ways to maim someone if you wish to.

The desire to bring suffering to others is the problem. Not the medium they utilize for their carnage.
yup and no amount of safety messures will stop people from that desire.

It's kinda weird how 9/11 saw immediate tighter regulations on airport security. How many digits of casualties does a mass shooting have to have for people to do something?

Colour me shocked. I can't believe this has happened.

Oh wait. It's normalised by frequency and perpetuated by stubborn Republicans.

I guess this puts to bed the 'good guy with a gun' argument too since this literally happened in Texas.

Mop up the blood and wait for it to happen again I guess. Let's just hope the bodies are in the ground before we're greeted by the next avoidable massacre in America.

Just to put things into perspective, in the United States.

As of July 31, 2019, 248 mass shootings have occurred in 2019 that fit the inclusion criteria of this article, resulting in 979 people being shot. Of those people, 246 have died. + 18 today 8/03/19 total 264 died.

There is plenty of Blood to go around, no Country is immune, you guys in the United Kingdom have your own blood Bath to contend with, get out the mop and bucket.

The check-able part of the claims is, how many abortions there have been since 1967.

Since then, there have been over 8.7 million abortions in Britain.

Around 202,000 abortions were recorded in Britain in 2016 ...... that's around 4,000 a week on average.

Who needs guns.

Statistics say otherwise. Sort by total or homicide per 100,000:
List of countries by firearm-related death rate - Wikipedia

In total gun deaths per 100,000 we are 10th between Panama and Uruguay.
In gun homicides we are 16h between Uruguay and Peru.

There is not a European country on the list above us in either. Closest is Montenegro at 12th in total and 20th in homicides.

Why do we have the gun violence rate ranking around countries from south america? Go sort it to "guns per 100 inhabitants" and see where we're at.

The US leads other industrialized nations in all other forms of violent homicide as well.

The truth is, Americans like killing each other by any means available. Homicide is considered an acceptable means of solving problems in the US.

Well we certainly aren't less "godly" than Europe, just more violent.

I wasn't the one to bring up guns.

Which tells me that that is what needs to be addressed not the method used.

I cannot help but notice that this shooting is literally right at the border.
According to reports, the shooter was possibly targeting Hispanics. If the manifesto mentioned in the link below turns out to have been written by the shooter, he was pro-wall, anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim, and against race mixing.

FBI Investigating Possible Manifesto in El Paso Walmart Shooting | Heavy.com

Just because it happened in Texas does not mean that there were actually good guys with guns there, and moreover based on WHERE it happened in Texas I am inclined to believe it may not have been a resident anyway.
He's from Texas.

Curious, how many more people have to die before Republicans consider restricting access to firearms?

And what restrictions do you propose?

For your information, the Republicans are the only ones defending the Republic and the Constitution.

and in the United States many more people are killed without guns than with guns.

I can think of poisoning, strangulation, suffocation, beating, intentional auto accidents, starvation, etc. Yes, I can think of more ways.

And their homicide rates are still lower.

So is their population compared to over 350,000,000.
But with the influx of Migrants we will see a commensurate rise in Homicides.

If you’re talking about homicides, then that absolutely is not true. In 2017 there were 19,510 homicides of which 14,542 were caused by firearms.

Firearms are overwhelmingly the murder weapon of choice, for obvious reasons.

I read this article with careful consideration.

Why We’re Underestimating American Collapse

When we take a hard look at US collapse, we see a number of social pathologies on the rise. Not just any kind. Not even troubling, worrying, and dangerous ones. But strange and bizarre ones. Unique ones. Singular and gruesomely weird ones I’ve never really seen before, and outside of a dystopia written by Dickens and Orwell, nor have you, and neither has history. They suggest that whatever “numbers” we use to represent decline — shrinking real incomes, inequality, and so on —we are in fact grossly underestimating what pundits call the “human toll”, but which sensible human beings like you and I should simply think of as the overwhelming despair, rage, and anxiety of living in a collapsing society.

There is a bizarre situation in the US today. It's always been around in pockets, in limited areas. But it seems to be nationwide today, and it occurs at many different levels in many different ways:

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Without natural affection, truce-breakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof
-- 2 Timothy 3

It's as though all America has been taken over by the same spirit that rules a lynch mob. It's not just gun deaths, but, yes, it's also abortion. It's also the water in Flint. It's also Antifada. It's also police chatting on social media about killing Congresswomen. It's also opiod deaths. It's also caging children on the border. It's also children badgering other children to suicide.

There is an insanity rampant in the US, and, no, it's not something seen in other industrialized nations. It's more like what we see in South Sudan and Nigeria. This country today could elect an Idia Amin and not blink.

I said "taken over by a spirit" before, and I mean it, and bible thumping does not prevent that.
