I agree there should be a general harmony, but if the 3 degrees of heaven doctrine has been lost because some important bishop or church scholar in 200ad said this doctrine of 3 heavens does not fit our doctrine of being saved and so it was slowly and systematically removed as copies and translations were made, then a restoration needed to take place.

Were there other things that were not made known to the first century church, because they would not receive it?
1 Corinthians 3:2 King James Version (KJV)
2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

If the Lord wanted to restore the true doctrine, or present true doctrine that other ages would not accept, he would do that with a true prophet through the Holy Spirit. JS was that prophet.

All first Christians and Jesus only had the OT. If anything was missing, Jesus would have said so and didn't. There is nothing in the OT about 3 levels of heaven either.

I am not talking just of scriptures. I am talking about the every day wranglings of the scholarly class as they argued doctrine back and forth with each other and pagans and Jews that laughed at their stupid Christian beliefs. Some of that pagan laughter was effective because it caused some original doctrines to be modified, especially the nature of God and Jesus Christ.

For instance: The pagans and Jews argued that the Christians were no better than the pagan, for having 3 Gods. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. The Jews had the high position on the one God and so the Christians were kind of stuck with their 3 Gods.

To stop the laughter, the Christians came up with a solution. God the Father and God the Son and God the Holy Spirit were 3 distinct Persons (not 3 Gods, as if that mattered) and these Persons were all in 1 God. So now the Christian could say we believe in 1 God and rival the Jews, while being able to argue that although there are 3 distinct Persons, they were in 1 God, so they were not like the pagan pigs.

So the scholarly pursuits changed and modified and in some instance, like pre-earth life, were dismissed and forgotten.

JS needed to be called by God and Jesus to fill in the gaps of what was originally taught by the apostles of Jesus. And he did.

All I will say is what has been said over and over and over. God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit---One God. Jesus was God from always with the Father. He was the creator of all things through the Father and Holy Spirit. The was never human, He did not become God, He always was God and He is not flesh and bones and neither was Jesus. Jesus gave up high place of honor and worship to become human to save us. However, He kept His divinity. He always was God, before during and after the incarnation. He chose to become lower than the angels for love of us. He retains His humanity for eternity, never the less He is still God and always will be. Part of believing and having faith in Jesus is knowing the real Jesus. If you do not know Him, you do not know the Father or the Holy Spirit and therefore, God will not know you. That is a horribly sad thought.
I will never be able to understand why anyone would choose to believe in the Mormon god. He is flesh and bones, ours is a limitlessly powerful being with no constraints on His physicality. Yours can not create from nothing, He has to have preexisting matter. Ours creates from nothing. Your god can not produce children after his own kind, he can only produce spirit children. Ours has His only Son that was of His own substance. Yours requires a wife, or several, ours is all fully God and produced His only Son without need of any wife. (Did your god create her or did she too, become a goddess?)Your god is unable to protect his word--or to keep it, or to have it obeyed. If He can't even protect His own scriptures---how is he going to protect me? Ours has protected His word, and I can have faith He can protect me. Our God is obeyed by even the elements and all of His creation. Yours can't even have his created children, which he created to reproduce and told them to reproduce, obey that command without a fallen angel having made them to sin. Your god required sin to be obeyed!
You god has levels of heaven and salvation. Many will never be able to be in His presence though saved. Ours will give everyone eternal life with Him. No one will be left out (no one that is saved) Your god is not any god that I wish to follow for he is no God. JS gave nothing but a false god to the world. He brought him down to a level he could understand in order to elevate himself to the level of God. Come to, and know, the real God

You said: "He always was God and He is not flesh and bones and neither was Jesus."

Jesus said:
(New Testament | Luke 24:39)

39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

You said: "ours is a limitlessly powerful being with no constraints on His physicality." However I know that God is powerful enough to make His children equal to Himself:

(New Testament | Philippians 2:5 - 9)

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

We, as children of God, understand our divine nature:

(New Testament | 2 Peter 1:10)

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

(New Testament | Philippians 3:11 - 15)

11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

The prize is to the calling of God in Jesus Christ. God is a calling and Jesus Christ can give us that calling.

You know very well I meant before the incarnation---which, BTW---you also say He was not flesh and bone either but a spirit child of the Father and heavenly mother.

In? Are you sure?

Book of Mormon, Alma 34:36
“…The Lord hath said he dwelleth not in unholy temples, but in the hearts of the righteous doth he dwell…”

D&C 130:3, “…the idea that the Father and the Son dwell in a man’s heart is an old sectarian notion, and is false.”

How about this:

Inspired Version, Luke 10
23 All things are delivered to me of my Father; and no man knoweth that the Son is the Father, and the Father is the Son, but him to whom the Son will reveal it.

We are both spirit and flesh and bone. We have always existed in one form or another and we are Gods:

(New Testament | John 10:34 - 35)

34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

You interpretation has been proven wrong over and over---you simply refuse to accept truth over JS. We do not exist before birth we are not immortal beings.

1Ti_1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
1Ti 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
1Ti 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

You have been shown what these verses mean. Why keep repeating something that has been proven wrong? Truth is not going to change for you. My niece is so like me it is scary----she is not me, nor I her. We will not be gods---we will forever be servants of the Most High God, spending eternity as His sons and daughters and praising Him in love and adoration and enjoying all the beauty and wonders He has prepared for us ---if you find this objectionable---not to worry, you won't be let in.

I understand the meaning of those verses. God has the power to make men equal to Him and co heirs with His Son Jesus Christ.

Learning about the Mormon gods was depressing:

"Be careful in presenting this material that you don’t bring God down to man’s level. Our objective is to perfect ourselves and raise our level to his exalted place."

But their concept of God does bring him down to our level. It makes Him a man that became a God so we can also. There is no other way for such a concept to even come about---God has to be diminished in order to elevate man. their god is no God at all. It is something that every man can do.

Yes, and it took me years to realize why I felt so far away from God. :(

I believe in the Jesus Christ of the Bible who came to earth to be tried and tested. He did the will of the Father and is now sitting on the right hand of God the Father.

The Jesus of the Bible did not come to earth to "be tried and tested". That's the lds Jesus version and definitely NOT the Jesus of the Bible.

Yes Jesus was tried and tested:

(New Testament | Mark 1:12 - 13)

12 And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.
13 And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.

(New Testament | Hebrews 2:18)

18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

(New Testament | Luke 4:1 - 13)

1 AND Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,
2 Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.
3 And the devil said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.
4 And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.
5 And the devil, taking him up into an high mountain, shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.
6 And the devil said unto him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered unto me; and to whomsoever I will I give it.
7 If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.
8 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:
10 For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:
11 And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.
12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

He came specifically to die for our sins. That was His purpose. He did obey God in everything and as such He is definitely our example of being one with the Father. He was, however, God, before, during and after the incarnation. He was fully God and fully man.
