  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Treating your neighbor as less than human (or at least less than you) is the sin. Race might just happen to be the lame reason why you do it.

"Love your neighbor as yourself." Obviouslly the reason you mistreat your neighbor is also a sin.

Trump didn't even mention race; his comments though offensive were not racist.
Go back to your own country implies ethnic origins. Racism falls under the larger umbrella of prejudice, xenophobia, bigotry, which all fall under the umbrella of iniquity and sin. Whenever we don't Love others as ourselves, it is sin.

The same can be said about every single person in the US, if you go back enough generations. Fact is that he specifically targeted these PoC.
First of all, concerning PoC (people of color) EVERYBODY is a person of color. White is just as much as a color as black, brown, or anything else. Using code words specifically meant to separate one group from the rest is racist in itself.

Second; the reason he targeted those people is because they were his enemies. To suggest he attacked them because they were black or brown would be as absurd as claiming he attacked John McCain, Rosie O Donald, Jeb Bush, Hilary Clinton and countless others because they were white.

Do you believe that he was seriously suggesting that they legally immigrate to these countries most of them had never been to, attain political office there, and then push through reforms to improve the country, before they had the right to try to do so in the US? Or was it just a cheap attack based on their 'foreign' appearances?
He was attacking his enemies! Quit trying to twist and contort his petty insults into racism; it ain’t workin’

As they weren't considered white at that point, then no, it wasn't.
Polish, and Irish were always considered white. They were attacked because they were foreign.

But what even is your argument here? That if even one white person in the history of the country has ever been told to 'go back where you came from', that somehow means that that is not a racist phrase typically employed against minorities?
No! It means that phrase against those minorities was not racism.

Seems like you don't understand true racism.

Racism is when you discriminate against a specific race.

True racism has nothing to do with hurtful words and more to do with actions.

Discrimination is racism in action where it is based on race or the judgmental opinions that lead a person to discriminate racial minorities. They are not exactly the same. BTW discrimination is against any kind of different demographic, not just minority races.

If racism is not hurtful words, I guess we can all say one that has six letters.

Actions are louder than words and you can figure it out by comparing what he did to what he said.

For example, Donald Trump prevented people from Muslim countries in Africa and the Middle East (where whites are minorities) from traveling to the United States.
True! Now WHY did he pick those countries? Because Obama determined people from those countries were suspect because the government of those countries didn’t sufficiently vet them for terrorist activity.

Not racism; care to try again?

Later, he tweeted people must know English to come here.
They should! People put themselves at a severe disadvantage when they refuse to learn the language of the land.

He also pardoned Arizona sherriff Joe Arpeio, who is notorious for racial profiling and arrested Latinos disproportionately.
Sherrif Joe Arpeio was also notorious for arresting a disproportionate number of men compared to women as well! Does that make him sexist? Or do we just assume men on average commit more crime than women?

He said Mexico should pay for a border wall to keep its citizens out of America.
How do you equate the claim “Mexico will pay for the wall” with racism?

Do you notice President Trump is discriminating against non-whites in both his words and actions?
Not from the examples you gave. Care to try again?

As I mentioned before, he didn't tell them to go back to your own country, he said go back, fix it then return and show us how you did it. You guys need to quit taking stuff out of context in order to find racism where it does not exist.

Sorry I can't keep up with all of the new vocabulary words you millennials keep making up.

I am not a millennial. In fact I never figured out who millennials are beyond "the youngest generartion." I learned a lot of word definitions during the 20th century.

This is actually true for most police departments. When you read crime news, are any of the suspects and criminals women? No, they are always men - everywhere, not just one Arizona county.

How do you equate the claim “Mexico will pay for the wall” with racism?

I was connecting the border wall with Joe Arpeio. Donald Trump officially supported keeping Mexicans out of America and made his recism clear when he pardoned the like-minded sherriff.

"Go back" where, if not their own countries?

If saying men commit more crimes doesn't make you sexist then saying blacks commit more crimes than whites doesn't make me racist. Both of them are backed by facts.

You liberals need to be consistent or more people like Trump are going to be elected.

Trump supported keeping Mexicans out of America? Pretty big claim you are making there. What do you base this on?

Why else would he even want a border wall? There is only one nation affected by it - Mexico.

But people are racist when they say state opinions about blacks in general, such as "Blacks are bad people because they commit the most crimes."

Wouldn't you say the same about men versus women?

Okay, I’ll bite:
Let’s agree (for argument’s sake) that Trump’s tweets weren’t racist.
What did you find that was “offensive”?
