A friend of mine said that Pink Floyd were better than The Beatles the other day...

That was the end of that friendship.

Some people just have no idea.
Ah, do you plan on going to see the new movie "Yesterday" based on them?

I’ve actually never heard Pink Floyd before. I knew someone who was obsessed with them though.
I’ve listened to many Beetles songs and unreleased Beetles recordings because my dad has tons of them on CD.

Okay, so, I think I have been brushing by a post rating button sometimes when going through old times in past WYOM threads, like I would try to hit the next page button but my phone had just now finished loading an image on that page or something so it skips downward and thinks I hit a rating button somewhere just up above the next page instead.

So, just, in case anyone here gets a notice that I rated a post of theirs from 2016, you know how it happened, and hopefully won't think I am being clueless about where I am in the forums at the moment or trying to do something weird purposefully. ^_^

Definitely not. If it isn't THE BEATLES talking about The Beatles I'm not interested. YouTube is full of John Lennon interviews from the very early sixties, right up to his final days. Same with George too and Paul routinely hosts Q&A videos. (Ringo of course had Thomas the Tank Engine lol)

So yeah, I don't need some cheap knock off

Floyd are just 'okay' in my opinion... Overrated I think. There were far better bands from that era. Small Faces are a perfect example. Manfred Mann too - really, I could list 40 or 50 bands before I mention Floyd.

No offence Pink Floyd fans.

I do hope that Miss Stanfordella is faring better health-wise by now.

Also was thinking of Mr. Hawthorne - formerly Lord of the Forest - and another fellow I remember as Jack of Spades who left long ago. :mmh:

It's also funny when some people say "*Insert name of latest boy band here* are the next Beatles." Unless they mean the insects that crawl on the ground and roll dung, no they are not "the next Beatles."

Oh, that absolutely does my head in. They said that about One Direction - a band who couldn't even win X factor. I mean, even if you're willing to entertain the idea that they have something (whatever that something is, heaven only knows), I still can't see them writing songs as prolifically as Paul and John did - not with that level of quality, eloquence and dexterity anyway, THEN maintain a 7 day a week life on the road AND write, produce and record entire albums in ONE evening year after year, consistently and to order.

A band like that will never happen again. You could honestly just give me Revolver, Sgt. Pepper (Deluxe version with all of the different Strawberry Feilds takes),The White Album and Abbey Road, and I wouldn't ever listen to anything else.

@Multifavs , @Anthony7 , and others, may I ask you personally to please pray for the Lord to give my mother rest in her line of work. For someone who doesn't work there himself I have been around her place of employment long enough to see that managing hazardous waste is definitely a harder business than her superiors representing Harris county seem to think that it is. I just talked with her for along while over the phone because she needed someone to vent her frustrations to and to keep it short it amounts to her working really hard (and the employees under her) but being set up to fail ... because the people above don't care to help in any way since they can keep making their nice upper-middle-class income simply saying from the comfort of their desks to just "handle it", and making her feel stupid and incompetent when I know she's not.

But she can't just up and leave like I thankfully was able to do with Dr. Pepper when I still lived with her back then. Her retirement benefits will apparently drastically suffer if she leaves now. She sees little choice but to have to stick it out another four years. She has already been working for Harris county for thirteen years, and I barely survived two at Dr. Pepper. (So you can imagine how daunting another four must truly sound.) If Mom has to do that, well, please pray that somehow, someway, it will get better in the meantime. Because she even seriously considered checking in to a mental hospital just to feel some kind of rest from her problems and hopefully learn how to better cope being surrounded by others with problems in a safe environment for so long, as I once did. So, well, I imagine the way she feels right now must be pretty bad. :(

Speaking of Pink Floyd...

I like Floyd, but I don't listen to them as much as other prog rock bands. It's not about which band is "better", but about personal taste. My prog list would be as follows:

1. Yes
2. Rush
3. Genesis
4. Pink Floyd
5. ELP

My tastes are varied (jazz, electronic, classical, rock, ska, folk, etc.) but it's a genre that I return to from time to time. Perhaps, in part, because it incorporates multiple genres.

The Beatles are in a category of their own, as far as I'm concerned. Although I don't listen to them often, when I do I really get into it. Their songwriting was top notch and memorable.

Personal taste definitely comes into it, but you can't deny excellence. The Beatles literally changed the world. But no, how highly one ranks bands is certainly subjective. For me:

1. The Beatles
2. Small Faces
3. The Style Council
4. The Jimi Hendrix Experience
5. James - not until very recently did I recognise their awesomeness. What a band.

Online dating is awkward.

People are awkward.

I'm awkward.

Awkward is an awkward word.
Say that 5 times fast.

You're a magnificent, energy giving young woman who shouldn't EVER resort to online dating. It saddens me slightly to hear that you are.

OMM: I'm coming back to New York on Friday to celebrate July 4th. It'll be nice to share the company of people who understand what it means to want independence and then take steps towards making it happen. Brexit is no closer to happening folks - I'm afraid the UK government are just NOT people of action.

Awkward perhaps, but nevertheless beautiful.

.... On a less serious note, I could in fact not say that five times fast. Slipped up on the fourth time. ^_^

My gratitude to everyone who prayed and/or indicated that they would on this post. :) I could tell it has been some really bad days for her lately.

No problem, SK. I do hope things turn around for her in the near future, and that God would give her rest or the strength she needs. I'll continue praying for her.

Eh. I'm skeptical too. But let's use the word try instead of resort. Makes me feel better. lol

I met a nice, younger couple at church who met online and it piqued my interest.

I mean, the benefit behind meeting someone over the internet versus, let's say, the produce boy at walmart or the mailman, is that first impressions are normally void of phrases like 'I gotta poop!!' or 'mom! check out this booger!'.

There are a lot of men out there who want a REAL woman. In a narcissistic, social media obsessed world, that's chock full of fake personalities and Snapchat filters, a down to earth, genuine person is what a lot of men are really searching for.

We're all human. We all have disgusting habits, weird quirks, and tales hidden away in our backstory that make us who we are. We're not androids. Any man who turns his nose up at you for being human should just go out and get himself a mannequin and save himself the trouble.

You'll make it in the real world, I'm sure of it. Just drop any inhibition you might have, because oftentimes, our biggest weakness is actually our biggest asset.

Humble is sexy.
