Is there anything in us or about us that make us deserving of the Father’s love?

No. God is love. He loves. He made us for love. It is called real love when you love somebody who is not deserving. God’s love is real and perfect. Human mind is limited to know what love is. We love what we love and people love us because we are lovable to them or for their selfish reasons. Our love is not constant. It’s mixed with feelings of our fallen flesh. We think it’s same with God that there could be something about us or in us that He loves us so much. But not so with God.

Nope. In our natural state, all we deserve is hell. Not a lot of churches actually teach that. Possibly why there are so many "easy-believers" around who walk away from Christ when a few problems and persecution comes.

If we are deserving then Christ died in vain

Does not follow. Non sequitur.

John 3
16For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Romans 5:8
But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:10
For if, when we were enemies of God, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!

And parallels.

Nope, He just loves the holy heck out of us. His love, itself, is what gives us worth.

Good question. Many rabbit holes we can jump into.

My opinion is no. We've all fallen hard and far. Some call it total depravity. But God chose to save the elect. Do we deserve God love? No. Despite that does God love His elect? I would say yes.

How about this?

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

You cannot separate Gods love from His holiness righteousness and justice. Christ alone and for His sake is why God loves His chosen

If you back up a verse you will read "after our likeness". So, it's image and likeness. There's more to it.
But, what happened in Gen 2? You know the answer, we fell and lost our original righteousness in an act of disobedience. Sin and death spread to all people because of the fall.

Because mankind fell how does that correlate to deserving Gods love?

Christians don't deserve a shred of God's love. We are sinners, bent on sinning. If it were not for His resolve to forgive, cleanse, and sanctify our desperately wicked hearts, we would still be at enmity with Him. This is a significant way in which God's love is not like our own. God is holy, holy, holy in all His ways and attributes.

Hosea 11:1-9

When Israel was a child, I loved him,
and out of Egypt I called my son.
The more they were called,
the more they went away;
they kept sacrificing to the Baals
and burning offerings to idols.

Yet it was I who taught Ephraim to walk;
I took them up by their arms,
but they did not know that I healed them.
I led them with cords of kindness,
with the bands of love,
and I became to them as one who eases the yoke on their jaws,
and I bent down to them and fed them.

They shall not return to the land of Egypt,
but Assyria shall be their king,
because they have refused to return to me.
The sword shall rage against their cities,
consume the bars of their gates,
and devour them because of their own counsels.
My people are bent on turning away from me,
and though they call out to the Most High,
he shall not raise them up at all.

How can I give you up, O Ephraim?
How can I hand you over, O Israel?
How can I make you like Admah?
How can I treat you like Zeboiim?
My heart recoils within me;
my compassion grows warm and tender.
I will not execute my burning anger;
I will not again destroy Ephraim;
for I am God and not a man,
the Holy One in your midst,
and I will not come in wrath.

Why would that make fallen man deserving?

That demonstrates His love. I’m not asking if He loves us. I’m asking if there’s anything about us that makes us deserving.

Okay. Then how about this. We are unique, not like the rest of creation. We have a noble side.

Talmud says that if Adam had waited until Shabbath, he would have been given the knowledge of good and evil, because then he would have become ABLE to resist evil. That is why Christ is our Shabbath rest.

Romans 7
21I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. 22For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man, 23but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members. 24Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? 25Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin.

I’m not sure what that nonsense is all about, but okay.
