Romans 12:1 ESV

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Do you know that our salvation from sin is not a one-time experience which then guarantees us eternal life with God, no matter what? We don’t “get saved” and then we live our lives, and then one day we get to go to heaven. And, do you know that the faith that we must have to believe in Jesus Christ for salvation is also not a one-time event in our lives, which then guarantees us heaven? Yet, this is what many have been teaching for a long time.

Yes, there is a point in each one of our lives when we make that initial decision to trust in Jesus Christ to be Lord and Savior of our lives, but that is just the beginning, but it doesn’t necessarily guarantee the ending. For, the scriptures teach that it is those believing (present tense) who have the hope of eternal life with God. And, it teaches us that the faith to believe is initiated by God, is persuaded by God, and is a gift from God. And, if from God, then it submits to God (to Jesus Christ), to his will and to his ways.

Also, our salvation is not completed at the moment we believe in Jesus. Scripture teaches that we are saved (past), we are being saved (present), and that we will be saved (future) when Christ returns and our salvation is complete. But, it won’t be complete unless we are walking by the Spirit, according to the Spirit, and no longer according to the flesh, daily dying to sin and self, and daily surrendering to the Lordship of Christ in our lives. For, we must continue in Christ until the very end of time, to have eternal life.

[Lu. 9:23-25; Jn. 6:35-66; Jn. 8:31-32; Jn. 10:27-30; Ac. 26:16-18; Rom. 6:1-23; Rom. 8:1-17; 1 Co. 6:20; 2 Co. 5:15, 21; Gal. 5:19-21; Gal. 6:7-8; Eph. 2:8-10; Eph. 4:17-24; 2 Tim. 2:24-26; Tit. 2:11-14; 1 Pet. 2:24-25; Rom. 11:17-24; 1 Co. 15:2; Col. 1:21-23; 1 Jn. 1:5-9; & 1 Jn. 2:3-6]

Romans 12:2 ESV

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Also, do you know that separation from the world is not optional? For, we are commanded in scripture that we are to be holy as God is holy, and for us being holy means being separate (unlike, different) from the world with its lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. And, it means being separate (set apart) unto God to live holy and godly lives, pleasing to him, living to Christ and to his righteousness in the power of God within us.

We are not to participate in worldliness and what is unholy and ungodly and unrighteous. We should be guarding our hearts against such evil as this. For, if we are truly a child of God, it means we are being led of the Spirit of God, that we are walking (in practice) according to (in agreement with the Spirit), and that we are not walking (living) to fulfill the desires of our flesh. And, it means that Jesus is our Lord (owner-master), and that we are now bond-slaves of his righteousness, sold out to our Lord to obedience to Christ.

And, the whole goal of all of this is that we might not only discern the will of God – that which is holy, righteous, pure, honest, moral, and upright – but that we might put these things into practice in our daily lives, in our daily walks of faith with our Lord. For, when we come to faith in Jesus Christ, we surrender our lives to our Lord. Our lives are no longer our own to be lived however we want, but they are now to be for the honor, glory and praise of God, our Lord Jesus Christ.

[Eph. 1:3-4; Eph. 5:25-27; 1 Thess. 4:7; 2 Tim. 1:9-101 Pet. 1:14-16; 1 Pet. 2:4-5; 2 Pet. 3:10-12; Jn. 8:12; Jn. 12:25; Jn. 15:19; Jn. 17:16; 1 Co. 2:12; Gal. 6:14; Eph. 2:2; Jas. 1:27; Jas. 4:4; 2 Pet. 1:4; 1 Jn. 2:15]

Romans 12:9 ESV

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good.

Discerners of Good and Evil

Thus, we must be discerners, not only of the good God has for us, but we must discern also what is evil so that we don’t end up getting trapped by the devil’s lies, and end up on the broad road that leads to destruction rather than on the narrow road that leads to eternal life with God.

For, there are many wolves in sheep’s clothing, many liars and deceivers, thieves who have come into the sheepfold by another way, who are there among us only to steal, to kill and to destroy. And, they have inserted into the gospel of our salvation “the big lie” which is targeted for our destruction. And, that big lie is teaching that we can be saved from our sins, be bound for heaven, but that it doesn’t have to impact our lifestyles much at all.

But, this is not accidental. This is purposeful, and this is of Satan. He has spun his webs of deceit within the church over many years, slowly and stealthily inserting his lies and deceptions and manipulations of truth one little bit at a time so that they were barely noticeable. And, today this is not just about teaching a half-truth gospel, but this is about the blending of Christianity in with the world and with other religions and alternate lifestyles.

He and his servants, who disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, have very intentionally been lying to you, twisting the truth to their advantage, and altering (adulterating) the gospel of our salvation, fully intending to destroy your lives and to send you straight to hell, while promising you heaven. For, their goal is to overpower you and to defeat you and the gospel of Jesus Christ so that people reject the truth for the lies.

And, the reason behind all of this is Satan’s bitterness, his anger, and his hatred toward God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – which he has also passed along to his servants. Thus, this is spite, it is malice, and it is revenge. This is Satan getting even with God, and it is getting even with the Lord’s servants, too, for God stealing people away from Satan’s control.

So, they are on a full attack against the gospel and against the Lord’s servants (See Rev. 12-14) to either bring people back under Satan’s control, which is the primary objective, or else to silence them from sharing the gospel in any way that they can, even through false accusations and the murdering of the Lord’s servants and messengers.

Know The Truth

So, they are either poisoning people’s minds with lies regarding how we are saved from our sins, and with regard to what constitutes eternal life with God, or else they are poisoning people’s minds against the Lord’s servants so that people will reject the truth and believe the lies, believing the lies are truth and that the truth is a lie.

But, their Big Lie which tells people that they can be saved from their sins and have heaven guaranteed them on the basis of some one-time confession of Christ as Savior but with no requirements for repentance, obedience or submission to Christ, is leaving people still addicted to sin, and thus they are bound for hell, not heaven, and one day they are going to stand before God and he is going to say, “Depart from me. I never knew you.”

So, their gospel of salvation from sin frees no one from their sins, and thus it forgives no one, cleanses no one, and secures heaven for no one. For, you can’t save people from their sins based on a lie which leaves them still in slavery to sin with no hope of eternity with God. For, if we have not died with Christ to sin, and if we have not been raised with Christ to newness of life in Christ, to be lived to his righteousness, then we are not in Christ.

So, please know the truth, for your eternity depends on it. For, scripture teaches that if we walk (in lifestyle, in practice) in accord (agreement) with our flesh, then we are going to die in our sins, not have eternal life with God. And, you can tell yourself all the lies that you want to console you in your sinful addictions, but no lie is going to save your soul from hell, either.

So, know the truth, and live the truth, for the truth will set you free. For, scripture says that what we sow we are going to reap. If we sow to please the flesh, from the flesh we will reap destruction (decay, death). But, if we sow to please the Spirit, from the Spirit we will reap eternal life (Gal. 6:7-8).

Praise Be Told!

An Original Work / December 28, 2013
Based off Various Scriptures

He was pierced for our transgressions.
He was crushed for all our sin.
Our chastisement was upon Him.
By His stripes, we now are healed.

He has witnessed all our trials,
And the sins we choose to wear.
Yet, while we were dead in our sin,
Jesus died, our sins to bear.

He himself bore all of our sins
In His body on a cross,
So that we might die to our sin,
And live for His righteousness.

By faith in the pow’r of Jesus
And His blood shed for our sins,
We can be forgiven our sin,
And have life with God in heav’n.

He will lead us and He’ll guide us
In the way that we should go.
He will comfort and protect us,
Because Jesus, we do know.

Though He disciplines for our good,
He will heal us – Praise be told!
Do not fear, your Lord is with you.
Just have faith in Christ your Lord.

1Co 1:18 - For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.

Not who 'are being saved'

Saved, Being Saved, Will Be Saved

(Ro. 8:24; 13:11; 1 Co. 1:18; 15:1-2; 2 Co. 2:15; Eph. 2:5; 2 Tim. 1:8-9; Heb. 5:9; 9:28; 1 Pet. 1:5, 8-9)

“For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?” (Ro. 8:24)

“For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1 Co. 1:18)

“Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain” (1 Co. 15:1-2).

“For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing” (2 Co. 2:15).

“…even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved…” (Eph. 2:5)

“Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity” (2 Tim. 1:8-9).

“… so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him” (Heb. 9:28).

“Do this, knowing the time, that it is already the hour for you to awaken from sleep; for now salvation is nearer to us than when we believed” (Ro. 13:11).

“And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation” (Heb. 5:9).

“…who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time” (1 Pet. 1:5).

“…and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls” (1 Pet. 1:8-9).

Because Jesus has already taken that spot and absolutely no other human being "none at all" can or could have ever occupied that spot.

Gal. 2:20: “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

Rom. 6:6-11: "We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. 7 For one who has died has been set free from sin. 8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. 9 We know that Christ, being raised from the dead, will never die again; death no longer has dominion over him. 10 For the death he died he died to sin, once for all, but the life he lives he lives to God. 11 So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus."

Not who 'are being saved'

Rom. 8:1-14: There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. 3 For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. 6 For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. 7 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. 8 Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. 10 But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

12 So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Has anybody given it any thought that by "being saved" he meant by those hearing the message are "being saved" meaning that there were more and more people hearing the good news and they were "being saved"? Have you considered that not all people were saved? Its not a perpetual thing, once saved, always saved. Its a done deal, you are sealed, no one can snatch you from His hand, yes not even yourself. Ephesians says that we love God with an incorruptible love. Those who call on the name of the Lord will be saved. If it was something that happened over time, how exactly did it work for the thief on the cross?

The thief on the cross had his moment in time at the cross. He lived his life for Jesus from the moment he was saved until death, still believing in Jesus Christ. He didn't change his mind. He didn't turn his back on the Lord. He didn't decide he loved the world more. He loved Jesus from the moment he believed until he died. Some people are saved at the last minute and their process of salvation lasts from the moment they believe until they die. Well, actually their salvation is not complete yet until the day Jesus returns for his bride and our relationship with him is consummated.

But, we can't look just at the actual words "being saved," although it is speaking of our process of salvation, but we have to look at all the other verses that indicate that it is a process, many of which I gave reference to, and some of which I quoted. It is quite clear that our faith must be current, not past tense, and that true faith will submit to Christ as Lord, leave our lives of sin behind us, and follow our Lord in obedience.

For scripture is real clear that it is what we practice that determines whether or not we have eternal life with God. It says if we practice sin, if we walk in it, live to please the flesh, and we don't live to please God, and we don't practice righteousness, that we don't have eternal life with God, and we don't know God (Lu. 9:23-25; Rom. 8:1-17; 1 Jn. 1:5-9; Gal. 5:19-21; Gal. 6:7-8 and many others).

So, if our spiritual walk with Christ determines whether or not we are saved from our sins and whether or not we have eternal life with God, then our salvation is a process. Also there are tons of scriptures that also state that we must continue in Christ, and we must keep his word, and we must walk in obedience to him, as a matter of practice until the very end if we want to have eternal life with God. I gave all the references for these in the OP.

The Big Lie says we can be saved once, done deal, and then it doesn't really matter what we do from that point forward because we have our ticket into heaven. But, that is not what scripture teaches.

Read the New Testament, one book, one chapter and one verse at a time, in context (context is everything) and you will see that what I am telling you is the truth. The primary message throughout the New Testament is that Jesus died that we might die to sin and live to righteousness and that we are all going to reap what we sow. If we sow to please the flesh (by our actions), we are going to die, not have eternal life with God. But, if we sow (in action) to please the Spirit, then we have eternal life with God (Gal. 6:7-8).

One of the scriptures you kind of quoted is the one from John 10 where Jesus says "My sheep listen to my voice, I know them and they follow me," and to follow is to obey, to do what he says. And, they are the ones who can't be snatched out of his hands. If we aren't listening to the Lord, as a matter of course, and if we aren't following (obeying him, in practice), then we don't really know him, and that goes into even more scriptures which teach that if we don't walk in obedience to our Lord that we are not his and we don't have eternal life with him (mostly in John and 1 John).

So, again, it goes to practice, which is a daily walk, and it must endure to the end of time. Look up all those scriptures I referenced and you will see what I am talking about. And, read the scriptures you were referring to in context. For, Ephesians also says this:

Ephesians 4:17-24: “Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. They have become callous and have given themselves up to sensuality, greedy to practice every kind of impurity. But that is not the way you learned Christ! — assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus, to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.”

Eph. 5:3-6: "But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience."

And, Gal. 5:19-21 says this: “Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Our salvation is not a one-time event, done deal, then we live our lives, and one day we go to heaven. Our salvation is a process of sanctification in our lives, continually conforming us to Christ's likeness, making us holy, purifying our hearts, pruning us, correcting and disciplining us, etc. And, it won't be complete until Jesus takes us home and our marriage to him is consummated.

The thief on the cross had his moment in time at the cross. He lived his life for Jesus from the moment he was saved until death, still believing in Jesus Christ. He didn't change his mind. He didn't turn his back on the Lord..
I see, so of the thief had denied Jesus as Peter did, then he was not really saved. Don't think so.

All good stuff. But if we are saved we are saved.
It is true that IF we are truly saved, that we are saved, but our faith is what determines our salvation, and our faith is proved genuine by our obedience to Christ and our submission to Christ as Lord, and by our daily walk with him, either living to the flesh, which is not genuine faith, or living to the Spirit, which is genuine faith.

But, our faith is also ongoing, i.e. it must be current. We are not saved on the basis of past belief, and current belief must be walking according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh, for if we walk according to the flesh, we are going to die in our sins, not live with Christ for eternity. But, if we walk according to the Spirit, then we have eternal life with God (Lu. 9:23-25; Rom. 8:1-17; 1 Jn. 1:5-9; Gal. 5:19-21; Gal. 6:7-8).

Look, your argument is not with me, but with scripture. I have shared the scriptures with you. It has to do with our walk of faith, so our salvation is not a done deal, case closed, until it is finished when Jesus returns. Read the scriptures that teach doctrine. You can't build doctrine out of the story of the thief on a cross. If you say you have fellowship with God, but you walk (in practice) in darkness (sin), then you are a liar who does not live by the truth (read 1 Jn. 1:5-9). If you walk in darkness and not in the light then you don't have eternal life with God (Lu. 9:23-25; Rom. 8:1-17; Gal. 5:19-21; Gal. 6:7-8). It is what the Bible teaches. Many are going to stand before God one day saying "Lord, Lord" and he is going to say, "Depart from me, I never knew you." So, know the truth.

It is true that IF we are truly saved, that we are saved,

I suggest that all that are truly saved are saved. Jesus promised us eternal life if we ask and believe so we were promised just as much as the thief on the cross! Once He promised the guy would be in paradise today with Him, there is no way the guy had to worry about it. 'Gee, if I swear or cuss in my pain I am doomed again..'

but our faith is what determines our salvation, and our faith is proved genuine by our obedience to Christ and our submission to Christ as Lord, and by our daily walk with him, either living to the flesh, which is not genuine faith, or living to the Spirit, which is genuine faith.
You walk did not save you and your walk will not keep you saved! Your walk is simply a walk after the fact that hopefully will be better than the walk before being saved.
But, our faith is also ongoing, i.e. it must be current.
Being eternal it is always current. We do not keep it current, He does.
We are not saved on the basis of past belief,
Or present belief or future belief...only the belief that was needed when we believed enough to pray.

and current belief must be walking according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh, for if we walk according to the flesh, we are going to die in our sins, not live with Christ for eternity.
All will die. None will die sinless! If we fall, He picks us up. If we sin too badly He may let us die so our spirit is saved at least. Nothing can separate us from His salvation...not even mistakes.

But, if we walk according to the Spirit, then we have eternal life with God (Lu. 9:23-25; Rom. 8:1-17; 1 Jn. 1:5-9; Gal. 5:19-21; Gal. 6:7-8).

True, we do. We also have it if we fall and blow it!

Nope. Scripture does not say it is by works we stay saved or get saved.

I have shared the scriptures with you. It has to do with our walk of faith, so our salvation is not a done deal, case closed, until it is finished when Jesus returns.
Yes it is a done deal, none that the Father gives Him will be lost. He is the good shepherd. We may not get our new bodies that are eternal and be with Him yet, so in a way, our salvation which does exist already is not completed. He that began a good work in us will complete it until the end though, of course. Not you...Him.

I didn't. I responded to a post about him.

If you say you have fellowship with God, but you walk (in practice) in darkness (sin), then you are a liar who does not live by the truth (read 1 Jn. 1:5-9).
True. If you do not come to Jesus, the Light, you are in darkness. Even when you do come, you will face battles with doing wrong and blowing it making mistakes as long as you are alive! Having fellowship with God does not mean perfection and sinlessness.
If you walk in darkness and not in the light then you don't have eternal life with God (Lu. 9:23-25; Rom. 8:1-17; Gal. 5:19-21; Gal. 6:7-8).
Once you get saved you are no longer in darkness, you HAVE walked to the light.

It is what the Bible teaches. Many are going to stand before God one day saying "Lord, Lord" and he is going to say, "Depart from me, I never knew you." So, know the truth.
Yes they are. Not the saved though. This on again off again eternal insecurity is not of God.

I see, so its about your work that saves you? I thought it comes down to His work? See as soon as you put conditions on salvation, you make it about you and not Him. You are not being sanctified, you ARE sanctified (set apart, either you are set apart or youre not), Paul tells the Corinthians that. You are sanctified, washed, justified, a past event. You are not being made holy, you are holy, set apart. I will agree with you, at the end of Ephesians he says we have an incorruptible love for Christ, meaning we cant walk away, but He is always about His work that nothing separates us from the love of God, nothing, including you. In no way am I saying that you ask Jesus to save you and then you carry on with how things were. What assurance we have in Him!

Talking about practicing things, is that what we are doing? Are we going out and practicing sin? I most certainly dont, do I sin? Of course I do, but I dont practice it. I am not trying to set world records for sin or become better at it.

Are you a son of disobedience? No the bible says you are a son/ daughter of God. So are you going to experience Gods wrath? No, there is no judgement for you if you are in Christ, the bible says so.

At the end of the day, neither you nor I can say who is saved and who isnt, only God can see the heart.

Anyways, if you asked God to save you and recognized the need for His son and believed in Him for your salvation and got hit by a car 30 mins later, you're saved, nothing more. I'm sorry if that doesn't work for you and you believe you gotta do a bunch of stuff before you get saved, then you have missed it my friend. That is not the Gospel and God is not that kind of God. He wants none to perish but all to believe and come to repentance (changing of your mind about Jesus). The bible says so and there is no conditional verse after that one.

Once saved always saved. :)
