So, how do you apply what you are saying to the fact that Peter an Apostle had been filled with the Holy Spirit, but then he committed what, I would say, Jesus considers to be one of the worst sins, which is hypocrisy?
Oh boy, I didn't include the fact that
even BACs have free will to do whatever!

Major sins are often instantly removed, as the Holy Spirit is powerful, but less severe sinful habits like checking out women/men takes some time. But rest assured, for the saved person, it will happen.

How is lusting after a women in your heart less sinful then committing adultery when JESUS says those who do this have already sinned *MATTHEW 5:20-28?

Jesus came to save us from sin, not to continue in it. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone why BELIEVES. The Gospel does not save us in sin to continue in it but from sin to walk with God *JOHN 8:31-36; ROMANS 1:4-6; 1 PETER 1:5; ROMANS 1:4; 1 CORINTHIANS 1:18; 1 CORINTHIANS 1:24; 2:5; 1 CORINTHAINS 4:20.

JESUS came to MAGNIFY the LAW and make it honroable in fullfillment of the scriptures...

ISAIAH 42:21 [21] The LORD is well pleased for his righteousness' sake; he will magnify the law, and make it honorable.

We read of this here...

MATTHEW 5:17-28
[17], THINK NOT THAT I HAVE COME TO DESTROY THE LAW, OR THE PROHETS: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. [18], For truly I say to you, Till heaven and earth pass, one stroke or one pronunciation mark shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. [19], Whoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. [20], For I say to you, That EXCEPT YOUR RIGHTEOUSNESS EXCEEDS THE RIGHTOUESNESS OF THE SCRIBES AND PHARISEES YOU SHALL IN NO WISE IENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. [21], You have heard that it was said of them of old time, You shall not kill; and whoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: [22], But I say to you, That whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whoever shall say, You fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. [27], You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shall not commit adultery: [28], But I say to you, That whoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

JESUS came to magnify the LAW from the INSIDE OUT quoting MATTHEW 5:17-32 (thoughts and feelings) in fulfillment of *ISAIAH 42:21. This is to show that unless our RIGHTOUESNESS EXCEEDS the RIGHTOUESNESS of the Scribes and Pharisees we can in no way enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN. Jesus is saying the problem runs deeper then outward observance to the 10 Commandments. EVIL begins in the HEART. BREAKING GOD's 10 COMMANDMENTS from the heart defile a man *MATTHEW 15:18-19. JESUS is saying we can be outwardly perfect and blameless like the Scribes and Pharisee but inwardly like dead mans bones *MATTHEW 23:27-28. JESUS magnified the LAW to the INSIDE OUT. To show us that we are all sinners in need of a Saviour and that sin originates in the HEART (thoughts and feelings). That is why we have the NEW COVENANT promise and need to be BORN AGAIN by Faith in God's WORD for salvation to be free from SIN (breaking any one of God's 10 commandments) *HEBREWS 8:10-12; 1 JOHN 3:3-10.

If we are not BORN AGAIN into the NEW COVENANT promise and continue in it we will not enter the kingdom of Heaven *1 JOHN 2:3-4; 1 JOHN 2:3-4. ALL those who KNOWINGLY break any one of God's 10 commandments stand guilty before God of sin *JAMES 2:10-11. All those who KNOWINGLY CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter into God's KINGDOM *HEBREWS 10:26-27 because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23.

RIGHTESOUSNESS comes from LOVE because LOVE is the fulfilling of God's LAW and the very expression of what LOVE is *ROMANS 13:8-10. He that does not LOVE does not KNOW GOD for GOD IS LOVE * 1 JOHN 4:8. All those who are BORN AGAIN have a NEW HEART TO LOVE and FOLLOW GOD *1 JOHN 4:7. This is the NEW COVENANT promise *HEBREWS 8:10-12. Those who are BORN AGAIN do not practice SIN (breaking God's Commandments) *1 JOHN 3:4-9. This is why JOHN finishes on this subject by saying; For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous *1 JOHN 5:3 and is why JESUS says IF you LOVE me KEEP my commandments *JOHN 14:15. UNLESS we are BORN AGAIN under the NEW COVENANT to LOVE we will not enter the KINGDOM of HEAVEN *JOHN 3:3-7. We need to be changed from the INSIDE OUT and this is why we need to be BORN AGAIN through faith to LOVE. This is the NEW COVENANT promise to all those who BELIEVE God's WORD *HEBREWS 8:10-12; ROMANS 13:8-10; ROMANS 3:31; GALATIANS 5:16; 1 JOHN 2:1-4; 1 JOHN 3:3-10. God's WORD is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes.

God bless.

How could he come to free his BAC's from sinning when Christianity only came about 'after' Our Lord went back to Heaven...
Even the OT saints were saved the same way. There has only ever been one gospel.

One Greek Expert I know says 1 John 1:9 (If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.) doesn't translate exactly fluently into English, but can be accurately translated by the Greek tense to say, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to have already forgiven us our sins..."

Your question seems to imply that God's actions upon his people are limited to time as the people experience it. God invented time. He can do as he pleases, and still be true to both us, and to his own economy.

The question has been asked by many, why, if God is omnipotent, couldn't he have just zapped his people into existence straight into Heaven? Well, maybe from his point of view that is exactly what he did. He is not like us. We are like him, however poorly we may be so.

It's difficult to believe that I'm reading this.

God does everything (except creation) in
concert (in co-operation) with His chosen ones.
It's a co-operation between Him and us.

That's why we have free will.
He tests us ... via the choices we make.
To obey Him, or not, is our choice.
Jesus said those who love Him will obey Him.

It really does seem that many "believers" here think they are robots. God does manage
to sanctify many via His wondrous grace,
but the BAC needs to co-operate with Him.

That's always been God's plan.

“We are all infected and impure with sin.” (Isaiah 64:6)
“all people are under the power of sin.” (Romans 3:9)
“we are all prisoners of sin.”
(Galatians 3:22)
“we were spiritually dead because of our sins (Ephesians 2:5)
He will save His people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)

Yes, of course, Jesus died for ALL of our sins!
He died for our past sins
… before we became BACs.
He died for our present sins
… that we repent of now.
He died for our future sins
… that we will repent of later.

WARNING … Either accept God’s word,
or accept the consequences! …
“For he who lacks these things (vv.5-8)
is shortsighted, even to blindness,
and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his OLD sins.” (2 Peter 1:9)

Other translations have “former sins”, “past sins”.
When you were born-again … you were forgiven of the sins you had committed in the past.
Please POST and explain ...
IF you do NOT believe the above verse!

“in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed” (Romans 3:25)

Jesus came to FREE us from the bondage
of sin, from being prisoners of sin

He came to FREE us from sinning
... so we don't HAVE to sin!
Jesus did this by giving us:
-- a new nature
-- the indwelling Holy Spirit
-- the whole word of God
-- promises that we are NO longer slaves of sin,
so we can have the confidence to overcome sin
-- the knowledge about repentance
-- promise to forgive our sins when we repent
-- also, He defeated Satan who held us in bondage/captivity

God’s PROMISES that BACs have been
SET FREE from the bondage of sin!

“that we should no longer be slaves of sin.” (Romans 6:6)
“For he who has died has been freed from sin.” (Romans 6:7)
“reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin” (Romans 6:11)
“For sin shall not have dominion over you” (Romans 6:14)
you WERE slaves of sin
(Romans 6:17 and Romans 6:20)
“And having been set free from sin” (Romans 6:18 and Romans 6:22)
free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:2)
“When you came to Christ … Christ performed a spiritual circumcision —
the cutting away of your sinful nature” (Colossians 2:11)

Do you ever get tired of reading that
you are NO LONGER a slave of sin?

God’s WARNINGS to His BACs
about the dangers of sinning

● “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever
commits sin is a slave of sin.” (John 8:34)
● “Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey?
You can be a slave to sin, which leads to (spiritual) death, or you can choose to
obey God, which leads to righteous living
(i.e. righteousness).” (Romans 6:16)
● “For if you live according to the flesh,
you will die
” (Romans 8:13)
● “Do you not know that the unrighteous (sinners) will not inherit the kingdom of God?” (1 Corinthians 6:9)
● “those who practice such things (sins)
will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
(Galatians 5:21)
● “no (sinner) … has any inheritance
in the kingdom of Christ and God.”
(Ephesians 5:5)
● “for because of these things (sins)
the wrath of God comes upon the sons
of disobedience.” (Ephesians 5:6)
● “Little children, let no one deceive you … In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does NOT practice righteousness is NOT of God” (1 John 3:7-10)

God’s ANTIDOTE for any sins
committed by His precious BACs

● “But if we confess our sins to him,
he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us from all wickedness (unrighteousness).” (1 John 1:9)

This is an extremely important verse …
all men need to be repeatedly purified from
all unrighteousness – from all their sins …
We must confess our sins and turn from them …
We must also confess them with our actions …
(John) is talking here about repentance …
we must hate our sins and turn from them.

This is true repentance.
(The Applied New Testament Commentary,
1996, Dr. Thomas Hale, medical missionary)

Paul wrote this below to the Corinthian church concerning his previous letter (1 Corinthians),
in which he had rebuked them … they really needed to repent to continue to be saved !!!

“the pain (from Paul’s rebuke) caused you to repent and change your ways. It was the kind of sorrow God wants His people to have, so you were not harmed by us in any way. For the kind of sorrow God wants us
to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation.” (2 Corinthians 7:8-9)
And Paul chastises them below for
NOT repenting of their habitual sins …

“And I will be grieved because many of
you have not given up your old sins.
You have not repented of your impurity, sexual immorality, and eagerness for
lustful pleasure.” (2 Corinthians 12:21)
Please add the rest of scripture into this
In note, the rest of johns epistles where he says if any one continues in the practice of Sin they do not know God , are not of God but of the devil.
Because the Lord Jesus came to save us from.our sin .. Not leave us in servitude to sin.
I DO believe EVERY THING the scriptures says.
Even the parts that folks leave out when trying to strengthen thier point of view

Jesus became a sacrifice for Sin .
Not future sin
But Sin - period.
Anyone who has intent to continue to practice sin in the future
Is not yet saved but continues unrepentant in servitude to sin and rejection of JESUS.

You cannot serve two masters

Yes, but the habitual sinners don't repent.
Because repentance means STOP sinning!
Name me one person in all of church history who has been able to stop sinning completely (except anyone who has been born of a virgin of course! :) )

Is it possible to stop sinning completely...? Because, if it's not, then you must tell us the alternative or alternatives...? which would be Grace, but...? His work not ours, His trading places with us, ect... Faith in that and Him (as your God), and not yourself (as your own God), ect...

God Bless!

Perhaps it's time to repeat myself ...

It's all about one's heart attitude!
It's about striving to please the Lord.
It's about loving Jesus so much ... that
you desire to obey His commandments.

Even though Jesus asks (nay, commands) us
to be perfect ... it's not really about that
as much as having the correct heart attitude,
and striving to be as perfect as one can be!

Is this too much to ask ...
by the One who suffered and died for you?

Which do you love more ... Jesus or your sin?

And will it, or we, ever, ever, ever, this side of life, ever be "perfect" or "perfectly sinless", and never ever sin again, past a certain point in this life, this side of life...? or not...?

I don't think it is. If we could stop sinning ourselves, why do we need a Saviour from sin? If the blood of Jesus does not cover all our sinfulness, then Jesus is not a complete Saviour and His work is not finished. But He said just before He died on the cross, "It is finished". This means that the total sinfulness of all those who believe in Christ is paid for. All your sin, past, present and future is paid for. It would be an insult to Him if we tried to pay anything to Him from our own good works for the free gift He has given us.

Salvation is by grace through faith. It is not a combination of faith and works.

You cannot do anything to please the Lord. He doesn't need anything from you at all. You can do all the good works you like for the rest of your life, and it would not please God one bit. There is nothing about you that would bring any pleasure to God, because there is nothing good in you. So, if you are trying to please God by good works in the flesh, you are doing it in vain.

The Scripture says, "Without faith, it is impossible to please God", therefore the only things that would please God are those arising out of faith; and faith and works contradict each other.

If you are depending on your good works to save you, you could be one of the most moral and upright persons in hell one day!

@Oscarr , I'm really not trying to be antagonistic, just have conversation, but, should we not do, or attempt to do, or "try" to do, or exert our own will, or own efforts at all, to try to do good works...? or should we to obey, or in our struggles against sin, if we are to fight it or struggle against it or them, (evil, sin) at all, ect...?

(I do think focusing too much on sin as especially the main issue, only feeds it and reinforces it and makes it (sin) stronger, ect)... (that "sin consciousness and focus" is a problem, ect)...

God Bless!

If you are preaching a gospel of faith and works you are preaching another Jesus whose blood did not cover all our sinfulness.
Please do not make things up and claim things I have never said or believe. Where have I ever preached a Gospel of Grace plus works? If I have never said or believe such things why do you pretend that I have? OBEDIENCE to God's LAW is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD. If our faith has no fruit it is dead *JAMES 2:18-20; 26 and our tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire *MATTHEW 3:10; 7:19-20; 13:49-50. We are saved by GRACE through faith and not of ourselves it is a gift of God *EPHESIANS 2:8. What do you think the scriptures in post # 22 is talking about? Jesus came to save us from sin not to continue to sin. All those who continue in known unrepentant sin will not enter the kingdom of heaven because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23.

Even the OT saints were saved the same way. There has only ever been one gospel.

Gospel means "good news". If there has only ever been one gospel, it will be hard for you to explain Numbers 15

32 And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.

33 And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.

34 And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him.

35 And the Lord said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.

36 And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the Lord commanded Moses.

Notice the Lord commanded the man to be stoned? Was he saved by grace thru faith like us now, or did he have to obey the Law too?

@Oscarr , I'm really not trying to be antagonistic, just have conversation, but, should we not do, or attempt to do, or "try" to do, or exert our own will, or own efforts at all, to try to do good works...? or should we to obey, or in our struggles against sin, if we are to fight it or struggle against it or them, (evil, sin) at all, ect...?

(I do think focusing too much on sin as especially the main issue, only feeds it and reinforces it and makes it (sin) stronger, ect)... (that "sin consciousness and focus" is a problem, ect)...

God Bless!
The difference is that we do the things that God loves and approves of. This is not to try and please Him because as converted believers, He is already totally pleased with the Holy Spirit dwelling in us. We do what He approves of out of love for Him, for who He is.

It all depends on whether you are doing these things to try and please Him, because there is nothing you can do to please Him at all. He approves only the work of the Holy Spirit that has done in you. If you do the things that God loves and approves of, you are only doing out of love for Him. But even after you have done everything in your power, you remain just an unprofitable servant.

Was God in the OT, evil...?

God Bless!
