  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here it is: The Mueller report is out.

That's wonderful news that the president didn't turn out to be a Russian asset. Now can we focus on the myriad of other moral and legal deficiencies that surround this president and administration?

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders told investigators she lied to the press after Comey firing:

"Sanders told the press after Comey's termination that the White House had heard from "countless" FBI agents that they had lost confidence in Comey. But the evidence does not support this claim...

Sanders acknowledged to investigators that her comments were not founded on anything."

This report is worse than I thought it would be, and that's mostly for the unpatriotic material alone.

Right, because his aides and associates chose to disregard the orders that they were given to obstruct justice. However, trying (and failing) to obstruct justice is still a crime.

It appears to me that Mueller was indeed following the DOJ guideline that a sitting president cannot be indicted, and instead chose to leave that decision up to Congress.

‘Oh my God. This is terrible. This is the end of my presidency.....’ yep the words of someone completely innocent!

If only he’d known them what he knows now, he wouldn’t have had to worry. He can and has done anything he pleased and will not be held accountable. Justice is only for the little people.

This isn't a smoking gun for the democrats to start the impeachment process. Otherwise they will greatly risk loosing the house in 2020.
This report pretty much says that congress has every right to go after Trump for obstruction of justice and that the president is corrupt as these quotes from it show.

“With respect to whether the President can be found to have obstructed justice by exercising his powers under Article II of the Constitution, we concluded that Congress has authority to prohibit a President’s corrupt use of his authority in order to protect the integrity of the administration of justice...”

“The separation-of-powers doctrine authorizes Congress to protect official proceedings, including those of courts and grand juries, from corrupt, obstructive acts regard less of their source…"

"The conclusion that Congress may apply the obstruction laws to the President's corrupt exercise of the powers of office accords with our constitutional system of checks and balances and the principle that no person is above the law."

From the looks of it, congress probably has enough to work with to justify impeachment, but I doubt Nancy Pelosi is going to let impeachment happen this late in the president's term since it seems unlikely that the senate would vote to convict. This could change, however, if there are enough Republican senators on the hill willing to step forward who have enough patriotism to put the country before themselves.

I understand those on the left had their hopes and dreams attached to this report
Could I suggest this kind of blanket characterization is always a mistake. While I'm not left, I doubt more than a small portion put 'hopes and dreams' (!?) on such, after all this time....

Why does this matter?

Because if we guess at the motivations, thoughts, feelings of others in a blanket way, it will build illusions (inaccurate guesses) about them, and we can thus fool ourselves. And that's only the beginning of the bad outcomes. It's the opposite of "love your neighbor" to guess bad things about your neighbor in a blanket way.

Maybe. But if the house impeaches, you will get the same result as clinton, where the senate wont have the votes to convict. In fact, the evidence against clinton was likely stronger.

If they do impeach, it will solidify and possibly grow trumps base, as many will view it as overkill. The dems best bet, is to nominate a good candidate to run against trump and vote him out.

Also, while we are on the topic, it's equally a mistake to make blanket characterizations about the right or 'conservatives' (just as much as against the 'left' or 'liberals'). That's also illusion, and also a beginning of wrongs.

No evidence of collusion from anyone

No obstruction.

No kidding.

Sound like being exonerated to me.

Exoneration defines as the action of officially absolving someone from blame; vindication.

You are reaching too far. Trump may have obstructed justice. Trump may not have obstructed justice. The evidence is susceptible to reasonable interpretations for both AND various pieces of evidence appear incriminating and entirely innocent.
Right, the SC concluded, as a matter unique to POTUS and his Constitutional duties to “faithfully execute the law”, that Congress could find that POTUS did “obstruct, or attempted to obstruct justice” and act as it sees fit.

All this consternation over a word.

Did the President or his team participate an collusion. No

Did the president or his team break any laws. No

I understand those on the left had their hopes and dreams attached to this report and are now going through mental exercises trying their n desperation to save their reputations and hopes of impeachment, but beating this dead horse will not make it rise and run.

Odd how so many non law breakers have ended up being charged with crimes.

Falsehood. Mueller is explicit that there is no exoneration.

His job as an investigator wasn't to exonerate. It was to find out if Trump had actually done the things he was being investigated for. It turns out he did not.

Odd how so many non law breakers have ended up being charged with crimes.

And yet the investigation was to find evidence to charge Trump, and there wasn't any.

But Mueller does say that congress could impeach regarding obstruction, as impeachment is the way to decide such a thing. There are grounds for it.
