  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, we have got the Jehovah's Witness. I don't know if they are YECs although they do try to peddle the old "<blanks> must be designed, they're so amazing!" argument.
There are thought to be only around 137,000 JWs in the UK...

I talked to a couple who came to my house a few months ago, a middle-aged woman and a young (late teens?) girl. I was gardening, so was happy to chat. For every 'amazing' revelation the woman informed me of, I found I was able to give a reasoned and fairly detailed account of why I thought it was mistaken, didn't happen, etc., and give what I thought was a more plausible alternative explanation. The woman was rather nonplussed and unable to give any coherent argument to support her 'wonderful' claims, but quite accepting that my views differed. The girl said nothing, but seemed quite amused that her elder was unable to defend her position - I got the feeling she wasn't very interested in the whole house-to-house thing. I don't know if anything I said was retained, but it was an interesting exercise.

It doesn't matter what I've shown so far, I made no claims at the onset and only dropped enough on you to let you know although I never thought you were right, here are a few reason that back that. If you don't think my reasons disprove anything, that fine, I don't have to because I never made any original claim.

So in effort to do away with the present confusion and to make this simple, I suggest you forget about all that's been said here since your claim, and back it up with stats. You either have good reason for making the claim or you do not. And steering this into, or just dwelling on the confusion aspect, or that what has been posted isn't reliable, instead of simply showing me where you got your actual reliable numbers from, isn't helping.

Nothing you have shown here is even close to definite, and in order to make a definite claim you'll need to show at least something close to definite stats that don't require guess work or opinions that may or may not be wrong.

What confusion? Your confusion when I didn't fall for your bait-and switch?

Here's where I got the numbers:

Christianity in Saudi Arabia - Wikipedia
Christianity in Turkey - Wikipedia
Christianity in Indonesia - Wikipedia

Unfortunately, there are no definite stats, only upper limits. Take Turkey, for example: If you regard Wikipedia as being reasonably accurate, there are about 8000 Protestants in Turkey. Unfortunately (and this is true of the figures for Saudi Arabia and Indonesia as well.) the number isn't broken down between Fundamentalist and Mainstream Protestants. All we know is that there can't be more than 8000 creationists in Turkey (because there are no more than 8000 Protestants altogether) and are probably less less than that. Do you really think that there are more than 8000 fundamentalist Evangelicals living in Turkey?

Of course, you can always supply your own numbers if you don't like mine. But don't go posting numbers of those who believe in the special creation of man and try to fool people into thinking that they all must be creationists. We're not that stupid.

Apparently there is still confusion distinguishing between intelligent design and 6000-year-old earth creationism, and my point being muddied.

One can conclude the universe was engineered by an intelligent being, without adopting full-on Christian doctrine (or even hearing of it). Indeed, evolution thought is the new player in town--not creation.

That makes reverse engineering the universe--the thing created by someone much smarter than us--a viable scientific approach. That's how machine learning came about, and that's given us self-driving cars, facial recognition, Google searches, all kinds of stuff.

The fear of Bible believers, is what CERN will open "inter-dimensional" portal to hell.

Seems legit. Perhaps you folks should get rid of all your possessions and prep for the Rapture.

But that's not ID. It's just plain old theistic evolutionism, with a new name stolen from a failed attempt to turn the US into a theocracy.

50 years ago after relativity came out, people "knew" nothing could travel faster than light. Experimental data affirmed it, CERN's operation relies on that. Then we researched quantum mechanics, and uncovered several faster-than-light behaviors. Then we "knew" that nothing with mass could travel FTL. Indian physicist mathematically "discovers" the tachyon, which has mass (albeit imaginary). Now people "know" that they cannot be detected. I'm going to say not so fast on that one. Even the basic law of gravity is being amended, the more we know about it. Levitation was thought to break it. Yet now we mass-transport people on levitated trains.

Faster-than-light communications do not even require that the particles have mass. Only that the particles not be too ephemeral, can travel, and be detectable. Something at point A need only impact something at point B, faster than light can reach it.

Except it is. Even by your own admission: it's only the name that is new.

It's not theistic evolution, either. Nothing about astrophysics requires evolution to be a thing.

There was also weird movie about this called "Symmetry" (I haven't seen it)

Does anyone think that maybe they are doing stuff like putting a statue of Shiva, putting 666 I their logo, just to scare us or make us paranoid?

It is put in your face so that you can choose to ignore what you want to ignore. You have to give permission for your demise - whether it is being taken advantage of by some entity, or willingly allowing the new "tower of Babel" to be built. (Instead of UP, it is UNDER - so maybe the Most High won't destroy it and scatter everyone again... this is the logic).

It is your fault if you don't understand the connection between Shiva, Wormwood, Cernuous, and/or "gates" and portals. It is up to you to scoff at the information they are putting in your face. It is not the fault of the perpetrators that you do not know about dances of destruction, incantations, numerology and other rudimentary magic. You have been told of all of these things, and you make the choice to scoff at it, or take it for what it is worth.

Everything that happens - bad or good - has happened because collectively we have willingly given permission for them to happen (through our many faults). If there are some entities that have a nefarious plan with CERN, they are not to blame. We are to blame for continuously showing our ignorance and fear of superstition becoming truth.

But, everyone is an agent, and must play their role. Some of us are supposed to be exactly who we are...

Whether QM shows FTL behaviour depends on your preferred interpretation. It's not necessary.

Even the basic law of gravity is being amended, the more we know about it. Levitation was thought to break it. Yet now we mass-transport people on levitated trains.
Sounds like an equivocation of levitation - to break the 'basic law of gravity' levitation would have to mean antigravity. Levitated trains use electromagnetic repulsion, not antigravity, and don't break any physical laws.

Faster-than-light communications do not even require that the particles have mass. Only that the particles not be too ephemeral, can travel, and be detectable. Something at point A need only impact something at point B, faster than light can reach it.
It all sounds so easy ;)

Exactly . Saying that the universe as a whole is "designed" adds nothing new to our understanding. It just gratuitously adds "designer" to the names of God. Unless, of course, you believe that a universe "designed" by God must be somehow different than a universe created by Him.

Weaponizing non reactive mass is one thing.
Weaponizing a worm hole to
a) Hell
b) Alpha Centauri
c) center of the sun; is another thing altogether.

I had not thought of that. It gives "Send them straight to hell boys!" a whole new meaning.

Design vs.ordered spontaneity impacts the way we form hypotheses, and it resulted in the field of machine learning, as I have explained a few times. Just like simulated evolution has resulted in computer algorithms.

Maglev trains were created by people who think differently from you. What do you think antigravity is? Something that cancels out gravity, to suspend something in mid-air. And now we have a magnetic force, which cancels out the gravitational force. Ironically created by superconductors, which defy a number of other physical laws as well. We think we know everything about physics; what we can and cannot do. At any point in history, did we ever not? They thought they knew enough about building architecture back in Genesis to build a skyscraper to space.

It all sounds so easy ;)

Which you just posted using a personal communications device: something which on the original Star Trek was a figment of fiction.

Yes, but I was just referring to the terminology employed. The point of view of ID posits ordered spontaneity except for a few biological structures where the "designer" has to appear and tinker with them to bring them to functionality. I don't think that is what you mean.

There is already a patent for antigravity technology. FTL is a reality in field theory.

People always say something is impossible... until it isn't, and they are forced to accept the new paradigm.

What bait and switch? I have no idea what you mean? So you now see you weren't being truthful so you have to try to put some blame on me...par for the course.

Unfortunately, there are no definite stats,

There you go, then stop claiming it. Now I have to wonder if you actually found some stats that prove you wrong but you won't post them....and can you blame me? That's what your dishonest caused..

This is actually a partial description of the physics used for antigravity.

I rather that doubt that. The little I have seen of FB on this forum suggests he has the same kind of intellect, knowledge and motivation possessed by the developers of Maglev trains. They may have been visionaries (which is nice), but crucially they were 'nuts and bolts' engineers and scientists.

What do you think antigravity is? Something that cancels out gravity, to suspend something in mid-air. And now we have a magnetic force, which cancels out the gravitational force.
Using your flimsy definition that makes birds, aeroplanes, helicopters and frisbees anti-gravity devices also.

And now we have a magnetic force, which cancels out the gravitational force. Ironically created by superconductors, which defy a number of other physical laws as well.
Please specify, with appropriate citations, any one physical law that superconductors defy.

We think we know everything about physics; what we can and cannot do.
Patently ridiculous. If we thought that we wouldn't have thousands of researchers and be spending billions on their research.

At any point in history, did we ever not? They thought they knew enough about building architecture back in Genesis to build a skyscraper to space.
Breaking news: ancient middle east civilisation lacks knowledge of physics and structural engineering.

Even later breaking news: current CF member is unable to recognise the importance of metaphor in constructing significant religious myths.
