Yet Matthew 24:20 teaches that Jesus' (at least immediate) followers to keep the sabbath — even if it costs them their life.
That isn't Who Jesus is addressing here. Jesus was speaking to non believing Jews about a question concerning the end times. What is at issue here is the habits of the general population of Jews. It caused many Jews to lose their life in 70 AD.

You have already been shown that Acts of the Apostles 15 tells us that the 10 commandments are abolished for the Gentile convert. The Gentiles were given only 4 commandments to obey here and the 10 commandments were not included.

You have closed your ears to the truth so the truth only falls on deaf ears where you are concerned.

There are other scriptures that you have been shown, as well as the documentation of the Church Fathers but you have closed your ears to the truth and refuse to hear any of it.

Hello David nice to see you again.

As shown earlier through the scripture in ACTS 15. The argument for contention was never over God's 10 commandments it was over if CIRCUMCISION from the MOSAIC BOOK of the law *DEUTERONOMY 31:24-26; EXODUS 24:7 was a requirement for salvation.

Let's look at the scriptures? Here is a break down of ACTS 15..

ACTS 15:1:21
[1], And certain men who came down from Judea taught the brethren, and said, EXCEPT YOU BE CIRCUMCISED AFTER THE MANNER OF MOSES YOU CANNOT BE SAVED.

NOTE: ACTS 15:1 is the question that needs to be answered and the topic of conversation and CONTEXT of the chapter of ACTS 15. Here we have Jewish believers coming to Paul and Barnabas saying if the new GENTILES believers are not circumcised and made proselytes then they cannot be saved. This is the chapter context and issue of contention.

[2], When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and dispute with them, THEY DETERMINED THAT PAUL AND BARNABAS AND CERTAIN OF THEM SHOULD GO UP TO JERUSALEM UNTO THE APOSLTLES AND ELDERS ABOUT THIS QUESTION.

NOTE: ACTS 15:2 Which question? Weather your salvation depends on being CIRCUMCISED.

They then travelled to Jerusalem about this question to determine if new gentile believers needed to be CIRCUMCISED in order to be saved. Once they got to Jerusalem, the question was then asked and the discussion continued with the Pharasees stating their case first..

[5], But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees who believed, saying, It is needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.

NOTE: KEEP in mind here the question was never over if gentile believers should obey God's 10 Commandments but to keep the Shadow laws of Moses, in this case CIRCUMCISION as a means of salvation. CIRCUMCIONS is from the law of MOSES not God’s 10 Commandments written by God on two tables of stone.

[6], And the apostles and elders came together TO CONSIDER THIS MATTER.

NOTE: Again the topic of discussion and chapter CONTEXT that is being considered is the question stated in ACTS 15:1 which was IS CIRCUMCISION A REQUIREMENT OF SALVATION?

[7], And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, you know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

[8], And God, who knows the hearts, bore them witness, giving them the Holy Spirit, even as he did unto us;

NOTE: After much discussion between the Apostles, Peter then rose up showing that God gave the gentile believers the Holy Spirit being UNCIRCUMCISED.

[9], And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
[10], Now therefore why test God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
[11], But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

NOTE: They came to the conclusion then that salvation is not by being circumcised but be what circumcision pointed to. A new heart by faith. This is made plain latter in other scripture written by PAUL here...

ROMANS 2 [25] For circumcision verily profits, if you keep the law: but if you are a breaker of the law, your circumcision is made uncircumcision. [26], Therefore if the uncircumcision keeps the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? [27], And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfils the law, judge you, who by the letter and circumcision do transgress the law? [28], FOR HE IS NOT A JEW, WHO IS ONE; NEITHER IS THAT CIRCUMCISION, WHICH IS OF THE OUTWARD FLESH: [29], BUT HE IS A JEW WHICH IS ONE INWARDLY; AND CIRCUMCISION IS THAT OF THE HEART, IN THE SPIRIT AND NOT IN THE LETTER; WHOSE PRAISE IS NOT OF MEN BUT OF GOD.

If ACTS 15 was talking about the 10 Commandments then Pauls writings in to the CORITHIANS do not make any sense.

1 CORITHIANS 7 [19] CIRCUMCISION IS NOTHING, AND UNCIRCUMCISION IS NOTHING, BUT THE KEEPING OF THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD.

The scripture above is a contradiction of how some interpret the outcome of ACTS 15. You do not believe Dale, that we are now free to break any of God's 10 Commandments now do you?

[12], Then all the multitude kept silence, and listened to Barnabas and Paul declaring what miracles and wonders God had done among the Gentiles by them.
[13], And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:
[14], Simeon has declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
[15], And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,
[16], After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
[17], That the rest of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, says the Lord, who does all these things.
[18], Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

[19], THEREFORE MY JUDGMENT IS THAT WE TROUBLE NOT THEM WHO FROM THE GENTILES ARE TURNED TO GOD:
[20], BUT WRITE UNTO THEM THAT THEY ABSTAIN FROM THE DEFILEMENT OF IDOLS, FORNICATION AND THINGS STRANGLED AND FROM BLOOD.

NOTE: JAMES conclusion is that new Gentile believers should not be troubled with CIRCUMCISION as a requirement of salvation which was the matter being considered and the question being discussion as shown in *ACTS 15:1-2; ACTS 15:6 but asks them to abstain from idols, fornication and from things strangled and from blood.

[21], FOR MOSES OF OLD TIME HAS IN EVERY CITY THEM THAT PREACH HIM, BEING READ IN THE SYNAGOGUES EVERY SABBATH.

NOTE: The reason why JAMES sends this letter to the new Gentile believers is that they would continue learning God's WORD EVERY SABBATH.

CONCLUSION So the conclusion of the matter with CONTEXT added back in is fould in v19-20 We are not to trouble the new gentile believers with CIRCUMCISION as a means of salvation. They are new converts that will learn more about GOD'S WORD when? EVERY SABBATH. In the meantime you should abstain from anything offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication.

NOPE nothing written about the 10 Commandments being abolished in this chapter. Here is what PAUL says of the matter here...

1 CORITHIANS 7 [19] CIRCUMCISION IS NOTHING, AND UNCIRCUMCISION IS NOTHING, BUT THE KEEPING OF THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD.

Yep you may need to revisit your thinking of ACTS 15. CIRCUMCISION is not the 10 Commandments. It is from the Shadow laws of the MOSAIC BOOK of the COVENANT.

Sorry brother God's WORD disagrees with you.

God bless

In Act 15, the Apostles and elders included in the letter: "that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication" which clearly reference two of the Ten Commandments being:
1) idolatry in Commandment 2 (Exodus 20:4-6)
2) adultery in Commandment 7 (Exodus 20:14)

Therefore, this letter from the Apostles and elders is not restricted to circumcision as you repeatedly assert, LoveGodsWord.

Peace be with you!

Hello brother Kermos,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Actually brother what you have posted here only supports what is being shared here in relation to ACTS 15.

ACTS 15 is discussing the question which was; IS CIRCUMCISION A REQUIREMENT FOR SALVATION (ACTS 15:1-2)? Not wheather God's 10 commandment are abolished for new Gentiles BELIEVERS.

What you point out above only confirms what has been shared here. ACTS 15 is not discussing if God's 10 commandments are abolished which some seem to teach.

The ACTS 15 letter to the new Gentile believers is affirming God's 10 commandments telling them not to commit idolatry and not to commit fornication and letting them know CIRCUMCISION is not a requirement for salvation.

The reason also for this letter was that they would continue learing God's WORD every SABBATH *ACTS 15:21.

This is also made very clear by PAUL that he is not referring to God's 10 commandments being Abolished in 1 CORINTHIANS 7 following the letter in ACTS 15.

1 CORINTHIANS 7:19 [19] Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

According to the interpretation for many of ACTS 15 PAUL is contradicting himself.

ROMANS 3:31 [31], Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yes, we establish the law.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts brother.

God bless

The OP implicitly states an argument by asking a question to find something that you do not accept. It then goes through 27 other questions doing the same thing. Although you are not making an argument against a specific person you are making an argument against a position and this position which is not explicitly stated is essential all those who do not value keeping the Sabbath. It's a straw man argument because those who do not value keeping the Sabbath do not actually say the Sabbath is abolished or that Sunday is commanded to keep. So the question is a bit moot because no one is trying to claim these things. I'm not actually engaging your point I'm calling out your argument as flawed from the beginning and refuse to engage it until you can change the language you are using.

Forget about the straw man Just understand no one claims these things in the OP because the language you use is too extreme that no one would agree with it. instead of saying "Where does it say the Sabbath is abolished" say "Where does it say we don't have to obverse the Sabbath". And instead of saying "Where does it command us to keep Sunday as a Holy day" say "Where does in scripture does it value Sunday worship". These are fundamentally different assertions and it seems you refuse to see it.

Sorry brother. You asked for if I understood what a strawman argument was. I responded and provided you with a definition from wiki showing your the one making the strawman not me. It is God's WORD and JESUS who says that all those who KNOWINGLY follow the teachings and traditions of men are not following God not me *MATTHEW 15:3-9.

Wiki
A straw man is a form of argument and an informal fallacy based on giving the impression of refuting an opponent's argument, while actually refuting anargument that was not presented by that opponent. One who engages in this fallacy is said to be "attacking a straw man."

Your making broard general claims for the all of those who go to Church on Sunday that simply is not true. In my experience sharing God's WORD throughout my time there are many who genuinely teach and think God's 4th commandment is not binding on Christians or is abolished so your claims here are simply not true.

I am not making an argument against someone but simply providing the word of GOD in MATTHEW 15:3-9 and asking the questions where is the scripture for this tradition that has lead many to break God's 4th commandment. Your trying to make an argument against the OP and God's WORD that is not true.

It is your side not mine that is making the strawman against God's 4th commandment which is one of Gods 10 Commandments that give us the KNOWLEDGE of what SIN is when broken *ROMANS 3:4; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4. God's 4th Commandment is one of those 10 commandments. JAMES says that if we break any one of God's 10 commandments we stand guilty before God of SIN

God's WORD says all those who CONTINUE in KNOWN UNREPENTANT SIN will not enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN *HEBREWS 10:26-27 because they reject the gift of God's dear son *ROMANS 6:23. OBEDIENCE to God's LAW is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD. If our faith has no fruit it is dead *JAMES 2:18-20; 26 and our tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire *MATTHEW 3:10; 7:19-20; 13:49-50.

If you do not have scripture for your position then why follow man made traditions over the WORD of GOD? Only God's WORD is true and we should BELIEVE and FOLLOW it. *ROMANS 3:4

God bless.

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest." Jesus Christ (Matthew 11:28)

At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath, and His disciples became hungry and began to pick the heads [of grain] and eat.
But when the Pharisees saw [this], they said to Him, "Look, Your disciples do what is not lawful to do on a Sabbath."
But He said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he became hungry, he and his companions, how he entered the house of God, and they ate the consecrated bread, which was not lawful for him to eat nor for those with him, but for the priests alone? Or have you not read in the Law, that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple break the Sabbath and are innocent? But I say to you that something greater than the temple is here. But if you had known what this means, 'I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT A SACRIFICE,' you would not have condemned the innocent. For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."
(Matthew 12:1-8)

"In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets." (Matthew 7:12)

One of them, a lawyer, asked Him [a question], testing Him, "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?"
And He said to him, "'YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."
(Matthew 22:35-40)

"Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished." (Matthew 5:17-18)

Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit. (John 19:30)

Praise be to God, for He answered about the Sabbath (see Matthew 12:1-8)

Jesus is Lord. He is Lord of me, and He is Lord of the Sabbath (see Matthew 12:8). He gives rest because rest is in Him who saves, Christ alone. Every day, every moment, is Jesus'. Jesus is my source of rest because He said so (see Matthew 11:28). Every day, every moment, He carries my heart in communnion with the Living God, in this is sabbath a.k.a. rest. Despite a different Greek word for rest being used in Matthew 11:28 from sabbaton, the synonym of rest remains valid.

Please note, Matthew 7:12 follows Matthew 5, such as "Blessed are the gentle", and Matthew 7:12 preceeds the part about Jesus explaining about fruit. Because of the indwelling Holy Spirit, we believers produce fruit of the Spirit (John 14:17). We all know that Love is a fruit of the Spirit (Galations 5:22).

The Master Orator Who Created everything seen and unseen said "this is the Law and the Prophets". The "this" is love and compassion. We can travel on the seventh day of the week because we are in Christ, and we can eat because He is Lord of the Sabbath! We can tell people about Jesus, too, because Jesus is our example, and He did just that! All because the Lord of the Sabbath is our rest for we are One with Him (John 17:21).

I'm not saying don't rest, rather, I am saying that Jesus said everything good within us believers is a heart manifesting God's Light (John 3:21).

Hello brother Kermos, nice to meet you and thanks for sharing your thoughts and the scriptures :)

Similar thoughts are expressed in HEBREWS 4 where it shows that we cannot enter God's SABBATH rest without first entering the Gospel rest of BELIEVING and FOLLOWING God's WORD.

Thanks for sharing brother.

God bless

No, he didn't have to...it was taken for granted. It never entered anybody's mind that it would be unobserved.
So why is Paul addressing the issue? Who was raising cane over law observance? Gentiles? hardly. Act 15 clearly indicates Jews. If it were Gentiles causing the trouble, why does the record bear witness about what happened to Paul at the hand of Jews? Where does it say any other people or group was causing trouble? What happened to Jerusalem because of the Jews?

Perhaps no one brought it up because it means the opposite of what you think. Notice that it states let no one judge you regarding what? They were observing religious festivals. They were observing the New Moon celebration. They were observing the Sabbath Day. Thus Paul is stating let no one judge you regarding your observance of the Sabbath.
Please explain why it doesn't apply to people not observing those things.

Of course we did CICUMCSION is a Shadow law from the MOSAIC BOOK of the OLD COVENANT *EXODUS 24:7. ACTS 15 is over the question of CONTEXT that was "IS CIRCUMCISION a requirement for salvation" ACTS 15:1-2.
Why do you stop at verse 2 refusing to acknowledge verse 5?

Your mixing up your shadow laws from the Mosaic book of the OLD COVENANT *EXODUS 24:7 with God's Eternal law (10 commandments) that give us the KNOWLEDGE of what SIN is when broken in the NEW COVENANT *ROMANS 3:20: ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4. The SHADOW sabbaths (not God's SEVENTH DAY 4th Commandment) connected to FEAST days are fulfilled in Christ and God's plan of salvation in the NEW COVEANT. God's WORD is in harmony with God's WORD. It is your interpretation of the scriptures that is the problem brother not God's WORD.
Please explain how the weekly sabbath isn't part of the shadow laws. Col 2:16 is clearly a list so indicated by the coma. Verse 17 clearly says the things (laws/requirements) are shadows.

Hello Selene03, nice to meet you and thanks for sharing your thoughts. Some comments for your consideration below.

Where does it say in ALL or anywhere in God's WORD that God's 4th Commandment from his ETERNAL LAW can be changed? Fact is there is NO scripture anywhere in God's WORD that says God's 4th Commandment has been ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day is there?

Your correct in that God's SABBATH has it's origin in the creation week where God rested on the SEVENTH DAY and BLESSED the SEVENTH DAY and made it a HOLY DAY as part of a FINISHED WORK of creation BEFORE SIN entered the world for mankind *GENESIS 2:1-3; MARK 2:27-28.

If God's Sabbath was made on the SEVENTH DAY of the CREATION WEEK, God BLESSED it and made it HOLY BEFORE SIN. Then the SABBATH cannot be a SHADOW law for salvation because there was NO SIN.

Where in God's WORD alone does it say that the "LORD'S DAY" is SUNDAY? Please provide scripture. The LORD'S DAY is not SUNDAY and never has been according to God's WORD. God's WORD alone says that the LORD'S DAY is the SABBATH day. All we need to do is ask the question and let God's WORD answer it.

What day is the LORD'S DAY according to God's WORD?

MATTHEW 12:8. FOR THE SON OF MAN IS LORD EVEN OF THE SABBATH DAY.

Does this scripture say God's 4th commandment is Abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day?

There is no such thing as an eight day week. There are only seven days in a week and God BLESSED and MADE HOLY the SEVENTH DAY of the creation week *GENESIS 2:1-3. JESUS and LORD of the SABBATH that he created for all mankind as part of the FINISHED work of creation BEFORE SIN entered the world when mankind was in perfecrt harmony with God. So the Sabbath cannot be a SHADOW law of anything. It is the 4th Commandments of God's ETERNAL LAW (10 commandments) that give us the KNOWLEDGE of what SIN is when broken in the NEW COVENANT *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4. Accoding to God's WORD if we KNOWINGLY break any one of God's 10 commandments we stand guilty before God of SIN. God's WORD says that the "LORD'S DAY is the SABBATH day not Sunday *MATTHEW 12:8. There is no scripture in God's WORD saying that the LORD'S DAY is Sunday.

Everyday is the day that the LORD has made. Does this scripture in your view say God's 4th commandment in the 10 commandments has been Abolished and as are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day? Forgive me but I cannot find that in this scripture.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Selene.

May God bless you as you seek him through his Word.
I feel very sorry for any one who has to be told everything and how to do it.

Hello brother dstamps,

Nice to meet you and thank you very much for sharing your thoughts. I agree it is only through God's WORD alone we can find JESUS to follow him in God's appointed way. We are all sinners in need of a Saviour and it is only in God's WORD alone that we can find JESUS. We become his disciples as we CONTINUE to BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD and learn. It is God's WORD through faith that changes us. This is what the SABBATH teaches, God's WORD is God's power of creation.

God's Word however does disagree with you. Where does it say in God's WORD that God's Sabbath is not a physical day as you claim?

Yet we read in the scriptures God's WORD defining what the Sabbath is in God's 4th Commandment of the 10 commandments that give us the KNOWLEDGE of what SIN is when broken *ROMANS 3:20.

EXODUS 20:10 But THE SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD your God:

Sorry brother God's WORD disagrees with you here.
Who is this reference "your" in Ex 20:10?

Not really brother your mix up you shadow laws from the MOSIAC BOOK of the OLD COVENANT *EXODUS 24:7 with God's ETERNAL LAW that gives us the KNOWLEDGE of sin when broken *ROMANS 3:20

COLOSSIANS 2 is talking about the SHADOW laws in ORDINANCES from the MOSAIC BOOK of the OLD COVENANT *EXODUS 24:7 which are fulfilled in Christ as shown in the God's WORD in previous posts to you in posts # 472; post # 473; post # 482 and post # 483 linked. Please feel free to respond to these posts and all the scriptures in them if you disagree?

Your mixing up God's SHADOW laws in ORDINANCES with God's ETERNAL LAW (10 Commandments) which God's WORD says in the NEW COVENANT give us the KNOWLEDGE of GOOD and EVIL; SIN and RIGHTOUESNESS *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4 and leads us to Christ that we might be forgiven by faith *GALATIANS 3:22-25; ROMANS 8:1-4. If we have no law then we have no KNOWLEDGE of what SIN is and no need of a Saviour. If we have no Saviour we are lost because we still in your sins and the wages of sin is death to all those who reject the gift of Gods dear son *ROMANS 6:23.

Hope this helps.
Then why are you saying the sabbath day isn't a holy day?

Please explain how the weekly sabbath isn't part of the shadow laws. Col 2:16 is clearly a list so indicated by the coma. Verse 17 clearly says the things (laws/requirements) are shadows.

Already posted throughout this thread and elsewhere. Colossians 2:16 is not talking about the weekly sabbath it is talking about the ceremonial sabbaths connected to the annual feasts.

If we do not consider both the within scripture and chapter context and read the scripture in isolation to the rest of the chapter then we will not get the correct understanding of what is being discussed in COLOSSIANS 2. It is very clear looking at COLOSSIANS 2:11-17 that the CONTEXT is the law in ORDINANCES from the MOSIAC BOOK of the OLD COVENANT and not God's 10 commandments. This is shown in detail in the previous two posts looking at both the within scripture and chapter CONTEXT of COLOSSIANS 2:16-17.

Then comparing the within scripture context we can see very clearly that PAUL is referencing the MOSAIC Shadow law in FEAST days nearly word for word in EZEKIEL 45:17 with EZEKIEL 45:18-25 as confirmation. For example PAUL quoting

COLOSSIANS 2:16 [16] Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT, or in DRINK, or in respect of an HOLYDAY [FEASTIVALS], or of the NEW MOON, or of the SABBATH DAYS <plural>:

PAUL is quoting from

EZEKIEL 45:17 [17] And it shall be the prince's part to give BURNT OFFERINGS, and MEAT OFFERINGS, and DRINK OFFERINGS, in the FEASTS, and in the NEW MOONS, and in the SABBATHS, in all solemnities of the house of Israel: he shall prepare the sin offering, and the meat offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings, to make reconciliation for the house of Israel.

So both the within chapter CONTEXT talking about the SHADOW laws of the MOSAIC BOOK of the OLD COVENANT and the within scripture CONTEXT talking about the ANNUAL FESTIVALS and ceremonial sabbaths connected to FEASTS (not God's 4th commandment) and also PAULS reference to the OLD TESTAMENT scriptures, all three reference points all agree together that COLOSSIANS 2:16 is in reference to the MOSAIC SHADOW laws and not God's 4th Commandment or God's 10 Commandments. The BURNT OFFERINGS, and MEAT OFFERINGS, and DRINK OFFERINGS, in the FEASTS, and in the NEW MOONS, and in the SABBATHS when applied together are all references to the annual FEAST days of LEVITICUS 23.

In these annual FEASTIVALS there were special ceremonial sabbaths (not God's 4th commandment) that where linked to certain FEASTS that could fall on any day of the week depending on the yearly cycle. These included;

* Annual festival of The blowing of trumpet (Leviticus 23:24)
* Annual Day of Atonement (Leviticus 23:32)
* Annual Feast of tabernacles (Leviticus 23:39)

These "SPECIAL" Sabbath could fall on any day and were connected directly to these festivals that were prophetic in nature pointing to Jesus and God's plan of Salvation in the NEW COVENANT.

COLOSSIANS 2 is talking about the SHADOW laws in ORDINANCES from the MOSAIC BOOK of the OLD COVENANT *EXODUS 24:7 which are fulfilled in Christ as shown in God's WORD in previous posts in 1; 2; 3 and 4 linked. Please feel free to respond to the linked posts (1-4) and all the scriptures in them if you disagree?

Now did you have any scriptures to show that God's 4th Commandment has been Abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day?

Hope this helps.

Hello brother, you were shown in God's WORD in post # 74 linked, that SIN is defined as breaking God's LAW (10 commandments) and the scriptures provided defined their CONTEXT to God's 10 Commandments from JAMES, PAUL, and JOHN who actually quote one or more of God's 10 commandments in their definitions of breaking any one of God's 10 commandments as being SIN *JAMES 2:8-10; ROMANS 7:7; ROMANS 3:20; 1 JOHN 3:4; 12-15.
Not according to the complete verse you represent by your comments.

Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Your idea deletes everything before the colon. What you try to foist on us is sin is only a transgression of the law. That can't be true because of Gal 3:19 which states transgressions (sin). This backs up what Moses said in Deut 5 about no one prior to Israel had this law.
So brother this is what I am posting and why I have porvided *JAMES 2:8-10; ROMANS 7:7; ROMANS 3:20; 1 JOHN 3:4; 12-15 as proof texts. Are you agreeing with me now? Your posting is a little confusing.
What is confusing you? Is it something your church doesn't teach?
Of course brother we should have no respect to showing LOVE to different people just as God's LAW has no respect to those who BREAK it. This is what JAMES 2:8-12 is talking about. You are part quoting to JAMES 2:8-9 but then ignore JAMES 2:10-11.
I've no need to quote whole books or chapters to make my point. When you quote large portions of Scripture, your point and purpose is deception. You do this by ignoring parts of your quote that clearly show your error.
Let's add JAMES 2:10-11 back into the conversation because I did quote these scriptures in support to show that if we break any one of God's 10 Commandments we commit SIN.
Yes you ignore context to force your point.
JAMES 2:10-11 [10], For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. [11] For he that said, DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY, said also, DO NOT KILL. Now if thou commit NO ADULTERY, yet if thou KILL, YOU ARE BECOME A TRANSGRESSOR OF GOD'S LAW
Why isn't the sabbath included here? Is it because James is really talking to Jews and Jewish Christians?

Hello brother nonaeroterraqueous, nice to meet you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. The OP here is a little different to your post did you have a chance to read it? It is asking where is the scripture that says God's 4th Commandments is Abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day. As to your post however, the calander is not really relavent to God's SEVENTH DAY weekly SABBATH commandment because it is simply every SEVENTH DAY of the weekly cycle. JESUS and the JEWS have been keeping it unbroken for 1000's of years from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset our time.

Thanks for sharing your thought brother and nice to meet you.

God bless.
The calendar is very relevant to your legalism.

Rubbish. The OP is asking legitimate question as to the to where in All of GOD'S WORD does it say God's 4th Commandment which is one of the 10 Commandments that give us the KNOWLEDGE of SIN when broken under the NEW COVENANT *ROMANS 3:20; ROMANS 7:7; 1 JOHN 3:4 is abolished and we are now commanded to keep SUNDAY as a HOLY DAY. Do you have any scripture to share? It seems you do not.
The OP is asking a question based on ignoring the Scripture.

The sabbath is so important to Christianity that the only day specifically mentioned after the cross is Sunday with Jesus and His disciples.

As posted in earlier posts to you before the written WORD was the SPOKEN WORD of GOD. Happy to repost the scriptures for you if you like just let me know?

GENESIS 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.

The HEBREW words used in this verse is TORAH. Let me know if you would like me to re-post the rest of the OLD TESTAMENT scriptures on the SPOKEN Word of God before Sinai.

May God bless you as you seek him through his WORD.
Your claim is Abraham had the law given to Israel while Moses says no. Do you ask what should we trust - the Scripture or you?

You say that the Lord’s Day is not Sunday. How do you know? Where in the Bible does it say that it’s not Sunday? The “Lord’s Day” was mentioned by John in the Book of Revelation.

Revelations 1:10 - I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

John knows when the Lord’s Day is, and this was information passed down to the Early Christians. That’s the reason why many Christians come together to worship on Sunday, rather than Saturday. You look for Scripture, telling you when the Lord’s Day is; yet, it appears that you’ve already made up your mind that it isn’t Sunday. There are some things that Jesus said and did that were not written in the Bible, but the Apostles knew about it (John 21:25). The Lord’s Day is known to be Sunday. John certainly knew what he was referring to when he mentioned the Lord’s Day. Many Christians also know the Lord’s Day to be Sunday.......the day of His resurrection.

Hi Selene03, there is no scripture that says that the LORD'S DAY is Sunday or the first day of the week. God's WORD tells us what day is the LORD'S DAY. All we need to do is ask the question and let God's WORD answer it. What day is the LORD'S DAY according to God's WORD?

MATTHEW 12:8. FOR THE SON OF MAN IS LORD EVEN OF THE SABBATH DAY.

God bless.
