  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

AOC melts down because she was fact checked

Anymore, I just assume that when AOC or someone of her brand is accused of something, it's projection on the part of the accuser.

I appreciate your objectivity. Well, your honesty at least.

That's how the political discussion here usually goes. They use words like "Temper tantrum" all day long when Trump says something, but then AOC does something similar and we're supposed to see it as somehow different, as in "acceptable".

The difference: Trump lives and breaths to slur and smear his crap on the wall like a toddler to generate attention, whereas it occasionally happens on the left.

Have gratitude for your ad blocker for sparing your eyes from having to roll to the point of fatigue from hypocrisy and hyperbole. Unlike Mr. Trump who is old enough to be her grandfather, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez did not use schoolyard taunts or slurs; she did not leave her all-caps on to rage in petulant fury; she did not have a meltdown.

So, she didn't have a 'teenage girl hissy fit' or a meltdown? Is the OP just another false narrative?

Is it not possible that the Left is more likely to excuse it (like we're seeing in this thread) if it happens on the Left?

I'm definitely not saying that AOC is perfect and incapable of mistakes, but a lot of modern so-called "conservative" politics seems to operate on projection: "accuse our opponents of that which we are guilty of doing".
Ringo

It is ironic to hear Trump supporters attempt to deride a liberal politician for making mistakes or for insulting someone when they support Trump and he makes a regular habit of insulting people.

Let me understand this, she goes out and publicly speaks and in her speaking she lies or is in accurate, politifact the people that the left out is 100% accurate when it comes to the president gives her for Pinocchios.

Oh, don't get me wrong! I dislike it when she misspeaks and says uninformed things! Gosh! I just mean that she seems to have you guys on the RIght all cowering under your desks. Like if she gets one tweet off that isn't 100% perfectly accurate you have to alert the planet earth as if she's going to destroy something!

It's just weird.

She goes on Twitter and melts down, has a teenage girl hissy fit. And you want me to believe it’s the conservatives fault.

I didn't say that at all. But then you may not read things that closely. Just sayin' that the Right is making a mountain out a molehill. I agree it's bad to say things incorrectly.

But it's just weird how you guys seem to act like AOC is some super villain you need to defeat at every turn! LOL.

Calm down! There are bigger problems afoot. Just take a breather.

Like I said maybe you guys could randomly choose another unimportant person to focus on their twitter for a while to give yourselves a rest!

And what you just said is considered a "whataboutism" whenever such things are said against Trump and it's pointed out that someone on the Left is doing the same thing. Since this thread is about AOC doing it, then any post saying Trump does it truly is a whataboutism, and therefore ironic in itself.

Well, it's a double standard. Donny lies repeatedly and baldly, nearly every time he opens his mouth. AOC misstates some statistics once and all of a sudden, she's a "liar" who "had a meltdown" because she rightly pointed out the fact that she - and others like her - are fact-checked with far more alacrity than most or all Republicans.

It's a consequence both of her politics and the fact that she's a minority woman who has dared to open her mouth and speak out.

Remind me when you ever cared about Trump sounding like an edgy 15 year old slurring everyone within reach for shreds of publicity.

Remind me when you called out Barack, (don’t use his middle name) Obama.

Such drama! So much emotion

In case you didn’t read it. And are just ignoring it.

The report only has two subjects involved

AOC and her attack on Politifact.

Which is the conservatives in those two?

Oh look - trying to insult teenage girls and AOC, such class. She didn't insult anyone or call names; she merely questioned her four Pinocchio rating (Politfact's Glenn Kessler explained it was because she didn't own that she was mistaken). Still, it's better than Donald's special award of "bottomless Pinocchios".

As it was already pointed out... there's "Whataboutism" and then there's gross hypocrisy.

Well, there's "Whataboutism" and then there's gross hypocrisy. The party that elected Trump really can't sit in judgement of politicians who are uninformed and post rants and get annoyed when questioned.

Just sayin'.

But AOC is in no way like the President of the United States. AOC has almost no real power or authority! She is also about 45 years younger than the President! He's the most powerful man on earth and he has uttered far more untruths and wrong statements than AOC has had hot meals (and that's just in the last 2 years! Trump has DECADES of being known as a pathological misrepresenter of facts!)

Let's not compare AOC to Trump. Trump is far worse and far more dangerous. That doesn't mean when AOC says something stupid or wrong it isn't bad...it is! But it's just not the same impact factor!

Obama acted with dignity and class. He slurred fewer people in 8 years than Trump does in one week.

Such drama! So much emotion backed wording.

Hey, I'm not the one losing it everytime a 28 year old tweets something goofy!

Cowering under your desk! Oh my!
Alerting planet earth! Oh my!
Bigger problems afoot! Oh my!

Well, just looks like it. Really, she's a 28 year old freshman rep. And the folks on the Right are tweeting creeper photos of her dress from behind and picking apart every tweet! Yikes!

I mean it's cool if the Right wants to become the creepy stalker party, but don't expect people to think it's an appealing look. Just sayin'....

You are correct he very politely screwed millions of people out of their healthcare. He very politely lied to the American public for almost a year. You can keep your policy you can keep your doctors. He very politely Weaponized the IRS to go after the tea party. He very politely and out of the picture help get four people killed in Benghazi and then blamed a video.

But at least he was polite
