I wonder how many other people here actually understand what we're talking about? :)

Did God make 100 million year old fossils on the 8th day?

Not sure where you get that from. Most of us who believe in creation and young earth believe that the majority of fossils came about during the flood when creatures died and quickly got buried by sediment. Animals that die and lie on the dry ground simply get eaten and decompose. Not sure what they were all doing on the eighth day but certainly not making fossils since everything was good until the fall. Death and bloodshed is the anathema of good. The flood itself was some hundred of years past creation. As to the age of the fossils, they are also some thousands of years old. Although there are also modern fossils as well which have been shown to form quickly such as the victims of Pompeii. You don't need millions of years to turn things to stone just the right conditions.

Possibly from the sciences of geology and palaeontology, but as you said, we can agree to disagree. :glowingstar:

But you didn't say that, someone else did and I was replying to them. :)

This board is slightly confusing since a whole heap of new posts have shown up that I didn't see when I answerd that post.

It's not that, it's this: some people's Christianity is based on the Bible. For them, the Bible MUST be perfect, flawless, and every word must be true. If ANYTHING in it is untrue, if ONE LITTLE FACT is false, then it cannot be trusted, and their entire religion falls apart.

For them, then, Genesis with its timelines, must be literally true, exactly as written.

Modern science proposes a different pre-historical timeline, one that is much longer. For those for whom the Bible must be taken strictly literally, and every word absolutely true, this cannot be.

Hence the struggle. It isn't ignorance. Americans with a high school education know the theory of evolution. Some simply do not believe it, because it contradicts Genesis.
i occasionally teach science classes to adults . I disagree about this not being ignorance. And the worst part is that it’s deliberate ignorance. A lot of creationist organizations teach disinformation. They change the meaning of scientific terminology by using newspeak They distort and lie about scientific findings . Even in this thread you see that nonsense about Mary Schweitzer’s soft tissue in dinosaurs being misinterpreted to mean a young earth . If creationists wouldn’t lie about these, the scientific community would pay no attention to them . The big problem is that evolution is used in medical research. Specifically common descent. Creationists are so set on being destructive that they’re putting peoples lives at risk . We discover the cause and a treatment for diabetes in other animals. I remember when they used to use pig and cow insulin for humans because human insulin just wasn’t available. The only reason doctors thought that would work is because we’re related to pigs and cows . People kill themselves with insecticides because they done understand that we have the same nervous system. ( insect nervous systems are on the other side of their bodies . The genetic info is the same but the “ on switch” is different. ) . Teaching creation science is going to kill people and this is the real reason why the scientific community fights creationists. Scientists don’t care what you believe but they’re not going to allow willful ignorance and lies to cause needless suffering and deaths

"Dinosaurs never existed ....."

That is mildly depressing, because I will have to stop singing my personal song. And besides, i always wanted a chauffeur that's a "genuwine dinosawruh"!

Alley-Oop, oop, oop, oop-oop
There's a man in the funny papers we all know
Alley-Oop, oop, oop, oop-oop
He lives 'way back a long time ago
Alley-Oop, oop, oop, oop-oop
He don't eat nothin' but a bear cat stew
Alley-Oop, oop, oop, oop-oop
Well, this cat's name is-a Alley-Oop
Alley-Oop, oop, oop, oop-oop
He got a chauffeur that's a genuwine dinosawruh
Alley-Oop, oop, oop, oop-oop
And he can knuckle your head before you count to fawruh
Alley-Oop, oop, oop, oop-oop
He got a big ugly club and a head fulla hairuh
Alley-Oop, oop, oop, oop-oop
Like great big lions and grizzly bearuhs
Alley-Oop, oop, oop, oop-oop
(Alley-Oop) He's the toughest man there is alive
(Alley-Oop) Wearin' clothes from a wildcat's hide
(Alley-Oop) He's the king of the jungle jive
Look at that cave man go!! (SCREAM)
He rides thru the jungle tearin' limbs offa trees
Alley-Oop, oop, oop, oop-oop
Knockin' great big monstahs dead on their knees
Alley-Oop, oop, oop, oop-oop
The cats don't bug him cuz they know bettah
Alley-Oop, oop, oop, oop-oop
Cuz he's a mean motah scootah and a bad go-gettah
Alley-Oop, oop, oop, oop-oop
(Alley-Oop) He's the toughest man there is alive
(Alley-Oop) Wears clothes from a wildcat's hide
(Alley-Oop) He's the king of the jungle jive
Look at that cave man go!!

Oh no, the Vegemite vs Marmite and drop bears vs jackalopes bits are deadly serious. I'm just not sure about the rest. ;)

If I owned CF, anybody who mentioned Marmite would be perma-banned.

Not to mention Promite... oops.

"Does not the OT talk about the EARTH BEFORE man? As if SOMETHING was here before? Makes you wonder thats for sure."

The earth was before man, days 1-5. God wasn't going to place him on nothing.

I really can't figure out how quote works here, it goes grey at the top and says it's been added but I don't see where so I added the BB code tags myself.

From what I see here, it is totally possible that there was genetic manipulation taking place and Noah was complete, and entirely human.

My view is not changed.
“It is totally possible” is a very long way from it actually being true. But that lands it firmly in the land of pure speculation. We do not need or even WANT speculation.

That theory of yours, did it come from the movie “Noah?” That seemed to be the idea of that story line.
