  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I guess there won't be a wall after all.

Please link to the congress person advocating open boarders.

I think what is meant by that is 'very generous' immigration policies that will have the same effect.

You mean the native Americans?

Nah, they're old news. The administration doesn't get riled until a paleface gets inconvenienced...

Generally speaking, one should actually say what they mean...

... don't you think?

I made no such claim.

Then I am at a loss on how to interpret your post here.

ICE/CBP caught 50,000+ illegally cross our borders every month for the last 3 months. And they admit they only catch about 10-15% of those crossing our borders every month.

If you catch 50,000 people every month and that is only 10% of those crossing our border every month that equates to 500,000 people crossing a month.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg is an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States who is 85 years old and in very poor health. She is expected to resign (or die) before the 2020 elections.
Ok, thanks for the clarification. So, "Tick tock, Ruthie" is in very poor taste.

Memento mori.

Native Americans like the Tohono O’odham Nation. If it comes down to it and the call goes out for a gathering to stand with the Tohono O’odham Nation, I will be there to stand with them.

Speaking of the Tohono O’odham Nation and their reaction to the border wall.

A Standing Rock on the Border?

A border tribe, and the wall that will divide it

Border Wall Threatens Native American Sovereignty

Trump's Border Wall Could Carve Path Through Native American Lands

Native American Tribe to DHS: Keep your dumb border wall off our land

American Indians fear U.S.-Mexico border wall will destroy ancient culture

Native American Tribe on U.S.-Mexico Border Blocks Trump's National Guard Troops From Its Lands

Lay one brick of the border wall and it will be the last of the Indian Wars, native Americans warn Trump

No truer words have been spoken. Welcome to the United States of America... founded upon freedom, liberty, and justice for all and a land where all men are created equal and endowed by their Creator with certain alienable rights such as life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (Some exceptions apply, which include but not limited to Native Americans, African Americans and all other minorities).

Yes, it is very poor taste. It's anxiously awaiting for her to either retire because of her injuries or die from her injuries just so the Christian Right can have another conservative judge on the Supreme Court, in order to push their conservative political agendas. You know, these same conservatives would be very put out and morally indignant if the shoe was on the other foot. I doubt they would be so anxious to replace her if Trump was a liberal Democrat president. Oh wait, they wouldn't even be supporting Trump so passionately and defending him so fiercely if he was a liberal Democrat.

Try reading what I actually said. Usually works for me.

"And they admit they only catch about 10-15% of those crossing our borders every month."

"They" is CBP. If you don't like their estimates take it up with them.
If you catch 50,000 people every month and that is only 10% of those crossing our border every month that equates to 500,000 people crossing a month.
Again, take it up with CBP.

You are the one in this thread making these claims, not the CBP. So yes it is your claim based on your knowledge of the CBP numbers that a half a million people are crossing the borders each month. Do you have links to back up these numbers?

All have the right to pursue happiness and success. However there are no guarantees regarding outcome.

That said do you think all the minority media and sports personalities have achieved the American dream? It certainly seems so.

Huh?

Your interpretation robs the notion of pursuing happiness of any real meaning. If some law or principle confers the right for people of all colours to “pursue happiness” this surely MUST imply that there are no race-based impediments to that pursuit!

It seems like you are endorsing the right for all to pursue a goal, on the one hand, while refusing to provide access to the MEANS.

That is like saying I have the right pursue becoming a doctor while being denied entry to medical school.
