CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There are local elections going on here. The mayor's race in a small town not too far from here is as of now decided by a single vote.

My cat has a few mats in his fur, and it's taking me a while to comb them out. Although he's an indoor cat, he sheds quite a bit this time of year, which can quickly lead to matting. Not the worst I've seen, thankfully.
Also, I figured out a way to make my own omnidirectional treadmill. It isn't a particularly novel design, but it should be much less expensive than what's on the market.

Saw Halloween 2018 a few hours ago in the theatre. ... Not John Carpenter's best, but, I actually felt tension for a lot of the movie which is what I believe true horror should be defined by (and not blood and gore), Jamie Lee Curtis has still got it after all these years, and for the most part the dialogue was mature - well, mature in comparison to how Rob Zombie would have written it - and at least believable that real human beings have talked to one another that way before. So, overall, kudos. I do not visit the theatre often at all; in fact, one of the past few times I had done so was not to see a movie but a ballet about The Nutcracker (and for such a man as myself I found it quite agreeable an experience ). But, every now and again it is just nice to go and get that sort-of group experience in that large dark room sharing the moments of laughter and scares and suspense with others in movies and plays and so forth, often unspoken but clearly felt.
