@Robin Mauro, when you consider the arguments before you, note the difference between an argument that arises based on your own reading of verses from God's Word vs. arguments based on another human's interpretation of God's Word. The more steps removed from what God said, the more prone to error the reasoning is. In fact, my experience is that only the thoughts of the person trying to interpret Scripture are potentially solid. Someone referring to another human's thoughts have a pretty good chance of having some sort of error in it. We tend to condense what others have said into something we can easily accept and understand, and important details are lost (ala the "telephone game"). If I am talking to someone who can only quote what others have said, that means that the person himself is only partially able, or completely
unable to back up his claims with convincing evidence. (Side note: Similarly, note the difference between someone explaining his ideas vs. someone explaining his experiences. Much of the Bible reports what people
experienced, not what their theories were. This is particularly helpful for those examining other religions/cults/heresies.)
An ironic passage, since it implies that Paul believed in eternal condemnation:
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned! (Galatians 1:8-9, 1984 NIV)
Be sure you are seeking the God that IS and not the God you wish He was. He loves you and will take care of the rest.
