Dreadnot has the correct interpretation. Jesus was talking about little children. Even though it won't be their sin (they were innocent victims), they would feel guilty of committing a sin. Small children are innocent and treating them in a sinful manner is throwing an obstacle for them to find Jesus. The guilt that children may suffer would be throughout their lives and it would be hard to deal with. Thus abused children will have a poor self image that could doom them to failure. Drugs, self-destructive lifestyles, prostitution. Children were not to be around adults as they were the fringe of society as the lepers, impoverished, prostitutes, etc.

She was beaten up in school because she was transsexual and perceived as being gay. Now if you think Christians don't have some hand to play in negative perceptions of gay people and people in her situation, you're either ignorant of the history that Christians played in fostering those negative perceptions, or in denial.

It is ALWAYS best to read what God says and, as difficult as it may be for us, He is clear. ANY sin except blasphemy of the Holy Spirit will be forgiven and most scholars agree this is ignoring God's call for salvation through FAITH in Christ's finished Work at the Cross. Listen to what God tells us, (He's talking to us! Believers!)... Romans 8:37... NO-created- thing can separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. EVERYTHING is -created-! Including US, even our "sin nature". We must accept God's gift completely in order to ever have the gifts of the Spirit.

Yes. One who has committed these acts but has repented and been transformed by the Holy Spirit is saved. However, no one that is an adulterer, murderer, child molester, who remains unrepentent in their actions can be.

I was careful to say many evangelicals, not all evangelicals.

I belong to a church that is called the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We are evangelicals (in fact this term was used by Luther originally), but because we are Lutheran and we read the Bible critically we do not necessarily mirror conservative, non-Lutheran American evangelicals in our politics or social ethics (our laity are evenly divided between political parties).

I haven't decided yet...if they repent/stop, and ask forgiveness...probably, but the scripture in the OP suggests otherwise, so juries still out on that one, for me anyway.

I am not sure that's true. In the book of James it talks of sins that do not lead to death, and some that do.
