You don't get it because you are blind with physical nation of Israel which is not where God talked about. You have a lot to learn and only if you have spiritual ears to hear.

In Ezekiel 38/39, God did not talk about physical nations armed with some physical weapons to wage physical war against a physical nation called "Israel" here. Rather, God is talking about His Congregation where He has redeemed many people out of the nations. You need to understand that it will be a time when God shall "visit" in the "latter days" to test the faithfulness of His Congregation, the Church, after 2,000 years of testimony to the world. Finding that she is not faithful, He will bring the army of Gog and Magog as a tool of judgment against this Congregation.

Do you really understand what "bought back" God was talking about? It is the past tense of "bring again." The term to bring again is salvation language altogether. God states in verse eight of our study that after many days He (God) will visit Gog and Magog, meaning He will bring judgment upon the nations of the world. In the latter years thou (Gog and Magog) shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword. To be “brought back” is past tense and can certainly be said of it that at one time prior to its fulfillment it would look forward to bringing again. Thus it is with our salvation. We were once lost and without Christ in the world and in our hearts. God, in His mercy, made a covenant that He would bring His chosen back into His fold as it was prior to our fall in the Garden of Eden. This is simple doctrine and needs no interpretation. After our fall we were eternally separated from God. We would one day be
brought back (from the sword) or another way of stating this is that God would one day bring again that which was lost or driven away, which was our fellowship and covenant with the Living Creator!

This is the spiritual house of Israel is to be brought back. This is the lost sheep of the house of Israel that Christ will bring back. Christ will bring again the captivity of Jacob, and this is NOT hightlighting the physical rebirth of the nation of Israel.

Ezekiel 34:11-13
[11] For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, will both search my sheep, and seek them out.
[12] As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.
[13] And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country.

At first glance, this may appear totally ludicrous to many in that we are stating that the mountains of Israel are NOT the literal mountains of the "latter days" rebirth of the nation of Israel. Yes, God has told us that He would gather us from all nations and bring us into "our own land." God SPIRITUALLY identifies this "land" as the mountains of Israel. These are not literal mountains nor are they located in a literal nation or country called Israel. Old Testament Israel was a nation lead of God to PREFIGURE or FORESHADOW His New Testament spiritual nation of all believers, both Jews and Gentiles. This is a spiritual "land" - the land of salvation, the land of milk and honey, etc. Eternal salvation is God's gift to those whom He has chosen and has given them an eternal home in an eternal land:

Psalms 143:10
[10] Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

The land of uprightness is indeed the spiritual land of Israel - the mountains thereof. It is the land in which our father Abraham sought after:

Hebrews 11:9-10
[9] By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
[10] For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

It is a spiritual city whose builder and maker is God, This spiritual city is represented here on earth by the Church of Jesus Christ which is a TARGET of God and Magog attack at the end of time:

Ezekiel 34:13-14
[13] And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country.
[14] I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel.

God was NOT talking about feeding His people with literal good pastures, but with good pastures of SPIRITUAL FOOD which is GOSPEL that only can be found upon HIGH Mountains of Israel! Selah! There they will lie down in a good fold, and in a fat pasture. This is what Gospel nourishment is about! It sustains spiritual life and this is only found WITHIN the Kingdom of God which is symbolized as the Mountains of Israel! Selah!

This is where God will use the armies of Gog and Magog will attack upon THIS mountains of Israel (Church) to "spoil and to take prey" upon Gospel itself! They will destroy everything that the Gospel stands for.

Joel warned about it:

Joel 2:1-4
[1] Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;
[2] A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.
[3] A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.
[4] The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.

The armies of Gog and Magog are NOT Russians or Islamic nations. They are the false prophets and christs! God compared them as the horsemen of Revelation 9! They will come with false gospel and doctrines that will replace or destroy true Gospel, leaving destruction left within God's congregation! Haven't you note it today?

It is a warning from God that only His Chosen Elect will "hear" and "see" this judgment that is taking place upon the unfaithful congregations all over the Earth - Gog and Magog!
TS, you are in denial. It names some of the nations in Ezekiel 38.

You are still not making any sense BaB2. Ezekiel 38 makes it clear that the church is not Israel. You are not addressing Ezekiel 38. You are in denial.

No, it is you who do not have spiritual understanding. You still have a carnal mind that when you read verse 18, you automatically think about national Israel and physical war. That is why you lack spiritual discernment. For example:

Ezekiel 38:8
[8] After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.

The sword is warfare. So the question is what warfare is this? A war with guns, tanks, missiles, or even horses? Or a Spiritual War? We go to Scripture for the answer:

The violence in the Kingdom of Israel is addressed in Revelation chapter 12, in the Dragon and his messengers (Scribes and Pharisees) at war with God and casting the stars of the kingdom down. John the Baptist in context is heralding the coming Christ who would end the violence, defeat the violent and casts Satan (and his) OUT of the spiritual kingdom that Israel once represented. Israel as a woman is the congregation with a representation of the Kingdom of heaven on earth. Christ ended the violence of this warfare though His victory on the cross. Didn't you know this? As it is written:

Isaiah 40:1-2
  • "Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God.
  • Speak ye comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD'S hand double for all her sins.
  • The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God."
In context, this is what Christ is talking about with John the Baptist, the violence of warfare in the kingdom, and His coming (which John heralded) to bring peace, pardon iniquity that crooked things are now made straight. This is the land that is recovered from warfare where our sins can be pardoned and dwells on the fat pastures (gospel) upon His Holy Mountain. Not literal land. Not literal nation Israel! This is Covenant Israel whom Christ went to Cross for!

TS, you are in denial. It names some of the nations in Ezekiel 38.

(Chuckle).

These "nations" or geographical areas were the known world at the time that the prophet Ezekiel, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, penned these passages. God is speaking to Ezekiel of a great spiritual conflict that is to come at the end of the New Testament Era and it appears quite clear that God is including these nations as prefigure, metaphors or allegories for the enemies of God's people WITHIN the New Testament congregation.

You need to study about the city called Tyrus in Ezekiel 27. Tyrus is Old Testament type of the New Testament Corporate Church! She is a spiritual depiction of the New Testament church prior to its fall who has many spiritual warriors and merchants within its city. You will find Persia, Togarmah, Tubal, Meshech, Dedan, Sheba, and Tarshish all in that chapter! These are all merchants. You need to study how Tyrus became a beautiful and strong city with all the goods to trade with the world UNTIL her rebellious merchants came against her which brought her to desolation.

Now, with Ezekiel 27, God is painting Tyrus as a spiritual picture about His New Testament Congregation where He made us as merchants of His Gospel in the Church to trade with the world! Both the Elect and the Professed Christians! We sell the Gospel Truth with the world! However, in the time of the end, the opposing force of merchants (false prophets and Christs) merchants decides to spoil and to take prey on Gospel (merchandises) which eventually brought desolation to the city! The fall of New Testament Congregation will be an exact picture with the fall of Tyrus, as well as Revelation 18's Babylon the Great.

Do your homework on these nations in Ezekiel 27 and pray for spiritual wisdom.

Anyone who ignores the fact that the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and is specifically applied to the Church in Hebrews 12:22-24, and 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, is the one who is in "denial" and is "not making any sense".

Either Peter was confused on the Day of Pentecost when he addressed the crowd as "all the house of Israel" in Acts of the Apostles 2:36, or you are confused.

Either James was confused in James 1:1-3, when he addressed his letter to "the twelve tribes" who were his "brethren" in "faith", or you are confused.

Why are you going to Matthew, to address what it says in Ezekiel 38/39 who Gog/Magog attacks? It doesn't say church. It is specific to the land of Israel. To the people brought at of the nations. And God calls "my people of Israel".
Ezekiel 38:14....My people, Israel. REBible
NOT….My people of Israel, as the KJV has it. Even the NKJV says...My people Israel....

Plainly from the context and from New Testament teachings, the 'Israel' referred to as living in the holy Land, is the Israel of God, the true faithful people who have accepted the Atoning sacrifice of Jesus.

You, Dougg, are a typical 'rapture to heaven' believer and must maintain an ethnic Israel on earth, while you skive of the heaven. That isn't going to happen and it will be far better for you and all who have been deceived by that false teaching, to understand the truth now, rather than later.
The denial, Dougg; is yours!

You can believe me. Anyway check the NKJV; it omits the 'of'.
The citizens of the holy Land when Gog and his army attack, are not the people who are there now.
This is made plain by how they will live peacefully and without any defenses. Ezekiel 38:11

Read Ezekiel 37:20-28, where it tells about the New Covenant the God will make with His faithful people; the Israelites of God, chosen and dedicated from all the peoples of the world. 1 Peter 2:9-10, Revelation 5:9-10
Any other belief contradicts the Work of Jesus. John 3:16

"without any defenses" you say? No they have defenses. What it says that they are dwelling "securely".

They don't have the cities each with it's own fortress walls - which to get into the cities, a person must enter through a gate.

And you say they are not the same people who are there now - Jews who reject Jesus as the messiah? But Christians from all the other countries around the world? Since the Jews don't believe that Jesus is God, right? And the Muslims believe God is their god Allah of their Koran.

Well, let's see what it says about those people who are going to be attacked by Gog/Magog from the text. Whether they are Jews who don't believe in Jesus. Or Christians.

First, the muslim.....they are going to be shown that the God of the bible is not Allah.

Ezekiel 39:6 And I will send a fire on Magog, and among them that dwell carelessly in the isles: and they shall know that I am the LORD.

Next the Jews, many of whom are secular... have the Jews polluted Jesus's name? I am pretty sure they have. Christian's reverence the name of Jesus. It doesn't sound like them, Keras.

Ezekiel 39:7 So will I make my holy name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them pollute my holy name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.

Okay, in Ezekiel 39:17-20, the second feast in Ezekiel 39, 7 years after the first feast on Gog's army is the Armageddon feast corresponding to Revelation 19:17-18. Verse 21, Jesus is talking, he makes it plain why them in Ezekiel 38 had been scattered into the nations (not talking about the church obviously).

Ezekiel 39:23 And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.

24 According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them.

25 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be jealous for my holy name;

[Matthew 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. ]

27 When I have brought them again from the people, and gathered them out of their enemies' lands, and am sanctified in them in the sight of many nations;

28 Then shall they know that I am the LORD their God, which caused them to be led into captivity among the heathen: but I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there.

29 Neither will I hide my face any more from them: for I have poured out my spirit upon the house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.

_______________________________________________________________________________

Keras, it is the same people over there right now. They don't believe that Jesus is the Lord of Heaven, just like them at the time Gog/Magog attacks. They don't know God as Jesus. They went into 2000 years of dispersion in the first century because they trespassed against God, rejecting Jesus. They have been persecuted and fell by the sword. They have been brought back into the land. They are not Christians yet, but Isaiah 66:7-8 indicates that they will become Christians at the beginning of the great tribulation.

Differently, the Christian church stands on knowing Jesus and that Jesus is God come in the flesh. The church has been spreading the gospel for 2000 years. Jesus has not hid his face from the church, but has been true, merciful, and kind, that we might endure and finish the race, for the crown of life that awaits us.

The people who are attacked, living in Israel, are them living over there right now, the Jews, who God is going to bring them to Christ, during the time of Jacob's troubles.

Keras, it is the same people over there right now.
Bible prophecy disagrees. I just post one example of the many that plainly state how the current inhabitants of all the holy Land are will soon be judged/ punished and very few will survive.

Jeremiah 12:14-16 These are the Words of the Lord: I am against all those evil neighbors who have encroached onto the Land that My Israelite people will inherit. Take note; I will pluck them out from where they are now and also I will pluck out the House of Judah as well. After I have removed them, I will Return and have compassion on them, bringing them back to their heritage, if they will diligently learn the ways of My people, to only swear by My Name: the Living God. But if they refuse, then I will completely remove and destroy them.

This Bible passage is extremely informative, it gives the Lord’s plans for three groups of people:

1/ The evil neighbors; The Islamic nations and entities surrounding Israel. Soon to be cleared out of the entire Middle East region by the terrible Day of the Lord’s wrath by fire from the sun. Psalms 83:1-18, Isaiah 30:25-30, Amos 1:1-11, 2:1-5

2/ The House of Judah, the Jewish people, currently inhabiting a part of the holy Land. The same fate as the neighbors, but a remnant will be saved. Isaiah 6:11-13, Zechariah 13:8-9, Romans 9:27

3/ My people; the true Israelites of God, every Christian believer; individuals from every tribe, race, nation and language. Revelation 5:9-10, 1 Peter 2:9-10

The story described here, is clear and concise: The Lord is about to solve all the Middle East problems, to a similar degree as how He reset civilization in Noah’s time. All the holy land will be depopulated, Jeremiah 10:18, excepting a small remnant of Messianic Jews who will shelter in bunkers in Jerusalem. Isaiah 29:4, Isaiah 6:11-13

This will allow the gathering and settling of His righteous Christian people into their heritage where they will, at last be the people He always wanted there; a people who will be His witnesses and display His light to the nations. Isaiah 43:10, Isaiah 49:8
The people who are attacked, living in Israel, are them living over there right now, the Jews, who God is going to bring them to Christ, during the time of Jacob's troubles.
Again; more unsupported, uninspired and unwanted Douggish opinion.
There is simply no scripture that prophesies a general Jewish redemption. They rejected and killed Jesus, they cursed themselves and their children, why should He? We know very well that Salvation must be accepted now, some Jews have, but the majority are of the synagogue of Satan.

Have you looked at the concordance entries for nation in Hebrew and Greek ?

Yes, in fact I have.

Matthew 12:26 says ethnos, which means race... and so does Matthew 28:20.

In the Old Testament, in Genesis 10:5, Gentiles is applied to Japheth... saying in their families, etc. Then God starts a new category to speak of Ham... with no mention of the word Gentiles. To me, this means that the Disciple-Apostles were to look within the familes of Japheth for the Lost Tribes of the House of Israel.

individuals from every tribe, race, nation and language. Revelation 5:9-10

5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

14:3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred [and] forty [and] four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous [are] thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true [are] thy ways, thou King of saints.

Those three verses are all the same people; the Song of the Lamb is the New Song. Hebrew ga'al is translated as redeemed or kinsman, it means: to be next of kin. Period.

John 6:44-45 "No man can come to Me, except the Father which hath sent Me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto Me."

They wouldn't be singing the New Song if they didn't believe both the Law and the Song of Moses, according to John's verse above. The multitude of these verses are literal genetic Hebrews from the Lost Tribes of Israel.

It is a holy nation

Yes, and here is where they came from:

Mathew 4:12-16 "The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Ethnos; The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up."

4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, "Repent: for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand."

10:2-4 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these;
The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother;
James [the son] of Zebedee, and John his brother;
Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican;
James [the son] of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;
Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him.

Isaiah 8:18 "Behold I and the children whom the LORD hath given Me for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion."

John 17:6 "I have manifested Thy name unto the men which thou gavest Me out of the world: Thine they were, and Thou gavest them Me; and they have kept Thy word."

It is definitely a Holy Nation which Jesus began calling. And by those men that the Father gave to Jesus, the Believing Ethnos in all of the world is made holy.

Matthew 28:19-20 "Go ye therefore, and teach always the Ethnos, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world." Amen.

Because "maqhteusate panta Ta eqnh" doesn't mean 'teach all nations',
it means "Teach Always The Ethnos"... or "Teach Wholly The Ethnos."
............Always & Only, hammered in............

But it is not the church, He is talking about in Ezekiel 39:23-29. Why aren't you copying and pasting those verses and explaining how those are referring to the church?
But it is the Church, the Lord's faithful people, still scattered around the world. The Israelites from the ten Northern tribes, plus anyone grafted in for their faith.
The OT correctly calls them Israelites. Now they are known as the Israel of God, followers of the Christian Way. Galatians 6:14-16

You need to stop thinking that those who call themselves Jews, are the only Israel. In fact the Lord calls them 'not' Jews, or Israelites because a true Israelite is one who has accepted the Atoning sacrifice of Jesus and keeps the Commandments.

Why don't you address prophesies like Jeremiah 12:14?
The almost adulation of Jewish Israel by some Christians, borders on ridiculous. They do it for this main reason: so they can be 'raptured to heaven', while those Jews go thru tribulation. This scenario is simply not Biblical and nowhere prophesied.

The Lord's faithful people? Then why does Jesus say about them in Ezekiel 39:23.....?

Ezekiel 39:23 And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.

Keras, show that in Ezekiel 39:23-29, it is the church in those verses. Explain those verses how it is the church being talked about.

It isn't the 'Church', as such, but every faithful believer, who are the people of God.
This truth has been well proved, but people like yourself still grip onto the wrong doctrine of Two Peoples, Two Promises.
It is actually up to you to prove your beliefs, not me, as the whole Bible narrates the story of God's faithful ones; from the Patriarchs, to the 7000 of Elijah's day, the 3000 at Pentecost until today, with the millions of born again Christians, from every race, nation and language.

Ezekiel 39:23-29 remains unfulfilled. Although 'Jacob and Israel' are mentioned, we know from Ephesians 2:11-18, that ethnicity no longer counts for a person to be one of God's people.

My belief is the Church is not Israel. Ezekiel 38/39 proves the Church is not Israel.

And you have not proved that them being attacked in Ezekiel 38-39 at the time they are attack are "every faithful believer".

It is the nation over there that has rejected Jesus, who went into captivity because they trespassed against
Jesus. It is in verse ...

Ezekiel 39:23 And the heathen shall know that the house of Israel went into captivity for their iniquity: because they trespassed against me, therefore hid I my face from them, and gave them into the hand of their enemies: so fell they all by the sword.

You are in denial that the Church is not Israel. It is so plain in Ezekiel 38-39 that the Church is not Israel, but you just can't come to grips with it.

The uniting of the two sticks of Judah and Ephraim in Ezekiel 37 has taken place in May 14, 1948.

May 14, 1948, also fulfilled Isaiah 66, a nation born in a day. The nation of Israel is still yet to become the Kingdom of Israel, with Jesus returning to be their King - with Jerusalem, saying blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Ezekiel 37:23-24 says their idols will be gone and Jesus will be there. So, it hasn't happened yet.

Isaiah 66:5-6 "Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at His word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for My name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but He shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompence to his enemies."

There's a temple involved, so it's either a while ago, or yet to be. And who are the two people I've underlined, Dougg?
