• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

Saw a good condition little wooden table a neighbor was throwing out... was raised a thrifty guy so I'm just like "Hey, I need a bedside table.. why not?"

Washed it but inspected it further, and sure enough, strong cat smell.

Now my allergies be like

They say to get over the allergies, you have to lick those kinds of things. It tastes like snausberries.

Quite an exodus our community has suffered lately ... Squeakers, Paulie, and now Miss Traveler ... :(

I hope they come back eventually, though, if perhaps we can be a positive spot in their lives in the future.

And still, please pray for Squeakers, everyone, as often as you can remember. She did not seem to be doing well at all her last days here.
I don't think I met Squeakers here on CF. She sounds very special:

I'm sorry to anyone I might have wronged or have been rude, mean, and/or ignorant to. I didn't mean it...I've tried being a good person, but she's probably gone forever.
I'm also sorry for being such a Debbie Downer lately. This black cloud above my head just won't go away...and probably never will.

To those who have shown love, affection, and might have even believed in me...thank you. Though words seem meaningless to me anymore, I still take them to heart and appreciate any sort of encouragement I might've received.

It's my time to go...but I'll remember you all.

Love,
~ Stephanie

I've been here 2 years or so, and in that two years nothing made me more saddened than that post.
Special indeed.

Remembering my Dad on Fathers day this weekend. He has passed but, I remember him many times a day. I appreciate him so much more as an adult though I was a good kid and never got into trouble.
He was an outstanding role model. A dedicated and loving husband and father who made more sacrifices for his family than I will ever know. His wife and family came first and that is how I was brought up. We went to church each Sunday and he led our family each time.
He taught me to never smoke or do drugs.
He taught to never get in trouble with the law.
He taught me morals and decency.
He taught me the value of a career with benefits and a great retirement as something to not overlook.
He was always there and he was always fair.
The Lord Blessed me with a father much better than I deserved.
Thank you Lord Jesus for a wonderful Father who loved me, sacrificed for me and put me first.
Thank you Lord for a Father who was always there for me. Always.
I miss you dearly Dad, you continue to influence me each day of my life.

A few other things on my mind.....

1. I got braces on Wednesday so, now on day 5. Gosh, what an adjustment to ones lifestyle! Have to relearn how to eat, how to keep your mouth clean, how to floss, etc, etc. Such a pain. I cannot see how kids go through this.
At least for me, as an adult, I made the choice to have them put on, to pay for them, and to get the benefits, etc. But, kids do not see things that way.
I can't say it is painful. The pulling on the teeth to straighten them actually feels good to me. Perhaps it is because it assures me they are working.
Getting a few cuts in my mouth from the sharp edges but, the eating and cleaning is the hard part.
So many mens bathrooms do not have mirrors in them so, am guessing will have to be using ladies rooms when eating out so I can see if there is food in my mouth. It is just not practical for aguy to carry a mirror with him.
One thing I learned on my own was to use a garden hose with a jet nozzle ( gently ) , it works great to clean out your mouth. Of course, I can only do that when home. Oh well.
Has anyone else had some trials with braces? If you are finished with your braces, you are pleased with the results? was it worth it?

The next thing on my mind is our community softball starts this week in the little town I now live near. It is fun. Did not play last year so, a few weeks back, went to a batting cage place. Had not done that in
softball.jpg
many years. I did pretty good and probably will go back this week for some more. anyone else playing softball this summer?
Those how know me know I have no interest in sitting on my butt and watching sports games, I'm a 'gear head' love to work on and improve classic cars and performance boats, etc. But, it is different if you are actually playing vs watching it.

The next thing is I am planning my next road trip. It'll be in August, going to Norwalk, Ohio initially. Not sure where to go after that. Last year, my trip to Norwalk took to me all over Michigan, Wisconsin and then down through Indiana to Kentucky to the Creation museum and then the Ark.
Went to LA and San
Webp.net-resizeimage (1).jpg
Francisco last month and that was a fun road trip. Rode on a 75 year old WWII cargo ship in San Francisco bay. Great views.
Anyway, thinking of driving into Minnesota, maybe to Duluth and then across the top of the US. Maybe go into Canada. not sure where I will do before heading back to Arizona.
So far, have driven through every state in the US except for Montana and Alaska. Those are on the 'to do' list. Road trips are a great adventure and it is much, much easier and cheaper to do things like this if you are single.

She is a special lady, yes. :) I just hope that the Spirit will draw her back in due time (as she has expressed before that she was not sure of her faith anymore, if I recall correctly; I do not say this judgmentally of course - I always liked Squeakers very much) and give her peace with her circumstances in life, if not improve them. She always seemed like a good lady.

Hi SK
I have been spending most of my time on the C S board.

Christian Scriptures

Thought I would come over here and relax a bit eheheh.

My mind is on Prime Rib.

I'm also glad to know that despite how little we interacted personally on here in the past, that you remember I am commonly called "SK" for short. ^-^

was about to give a med to a patient, but had this weird hesitation, looked at the patient's diagnoses and previous MDs notes and found a diagnostic test that resulted in a "possible" bleed...at first, didn't want to unnecesarry page the current MD, because usually they read the notes before they start/release a med, but went ahead and started composing the page...and bracing myself to what the MD might say...was about to send the page...but saw the MD walking in the hallway. I was so relieved! Lol I yelled out, "Hi Dr, I was almost to page you!" Dr looked tired. But he came to my side, I pulled up the particular other MD note that I saw... explained my concerns...the MD read through it and agreed that the med should be hold. Whew! I'm just thankful to God that He helps me out with things like this.

yeah sometimes things work out well. my mother almost died a few days ago, again. she should stop that. she had her appendix removed just in the nick of time. right after she was finally weened from her opiate medication that were helping her overcome her heroin addition. I wonder if opiates block out appendix pain ~shrugs~. anyways dr said it was a close call.

yeah probably was the opiates blocking her pain receptors, severe left sided pain in lower abdomen usually signs of appendicitis or a ruptured one. Glad they caught that one! And I pray that she will be free from heroin addiction and be weaned off those opiates. It's rough because there are chemicals in the brain that sits on certain receptors responsible for moods, euphoria, etc...certain things like alcohol and drugs have chemicals that also sit on those receptors, that causes same effects except have other effects that are harmful. So an addict will need meds with similar effects like alcohol and illicit drugs, to fill the void the receptors are missing once the person decides to quit or else will experience bad withdrawals. Kinda reminds me of relationships...where after a breakup...people get into another relationship (rebound)...so to ease the pain lol.

chemicals do what they do. they say that a breakup can be equivalent to the death of a loved one.

sadly my family has a hard time with addictions. my mom is now off the opiates but they gave her zanax for her anxiety a while back. :( >.< oh well, no one ever said you are supposed to live to the age of 100 or 80 or whatever.

my uncle would get a delirium tremor every once in a while. refused to admit he has a problem. I think he recently went to get treatment so i'm thankful to God for that. wish my family would stop doing this kind of stuff.

one of my brothers is in an endless cycle of going to a horrible treatment center then back to jail because of the dumb bureaucracy of the government that does not know or care how evil an influence the so-called rehabs can have in them.

this post should have probably been in the rant thread.

Definitely, Miss Abigail. It was good of you to trust your heart (where the Spirit resides) and withhold until making sure of things. :)

keeping your fam in prayers...sometimes it will take time, people make mistakes and make wrong decisions along the way, some learn and some don't, some get stuck, some need help...but can do is just love them, pray, and offer help when can.
