  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Where do you get the words of Jesus? How do you know the way, life and truth otherwise?
Exactly. The words of Jesus are in the Bible (the Gospels), the revelation of Christ is throughout the Bible (66 books), and the teachings of Christ are throughout the Bible (New Testament). So why do you even question this rather than study the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation?

Christ is hidden in the OT and revealed in the NT specifically in the Gospel books. I have studied and continue to study the Bible and also apocryphal books. Remember that the Holy Spirit reminds of Jesus' words, so anything in contrary to that need to be discarded.

Jesus called Paul a 'chosen vessel', not an apostle since He had called 12 already, and there is no way it can be increased. You are imagining things blindly! You don't have solid witnesses to your imaginations!

You don't have any substance to your insults.
But there's no point arguing with someone who doesn't know who Jesus is and doesn't accept Paul and therefore the inerrancy of the Scriptures.

Quoting Jesus is an insult? Probably, you know Jesus through Paul, a rank outsider.

James and Peter do no such a thing:

Consider also that our Lord’s patience brings salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom God gave him. He writes this way in all his letters, speaking in them about such matters. Some parts of his letters are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. (2 Peter 3:15-16)

James makes clear in Acts right before Pauls arrest that he and the elders KNOW that Paul is not teaching Torah done away with and says so plainly.

Paul was a SCHOLAR and taught like one hence Peters admonition concerning Pauls writing as emphasized by what he states in his last sentence of the scripture you quoted

He was a Pharisee, are you just trying to cause division or are you going to actually make a point here?
Newsflash, Yeshua was considered a Pharisee.

I don't think you understand the difference between the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Just waiting you to sell out to an obviously flawed argument.

Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? Are they not the ones who are blaspheming the noble name of him to whom you belong?

If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing right. But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers. For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. For he who said, “You shall not commit adultery,” also said, “You shall not murder.” If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker. (James 2:5-11)
That's the royal law you knew nothing about, notice this is about how the rich treat the poor.

In the following directives I have no praise for you, for your meetings do more harm than good. In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and to some extent I believe it. No doubt there have to be differences among you to show which of you have God’s approval. So then, when you come together, it is not the Lord’s Supper you eat, for when you are eating, some of you go ahead with your own private suppers. As a result, one person remains hungry and another gets drunk. Don’t you have homes to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God by humiliating those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? Certainly not in this matter! (1 Cor. 11:17-22)
Both are dealing with the exact same thing, how the rich treat the poor. When James speaks of the works of faith he is talking about the works of righteousness, so is Paul. Paul says some of you are sick and some of you sleep, James says is this even saving faith. This has absolutely nothing to do with the works of the Law Paul says is apart from grace through faith.

Try learning the texts you are speaking of before you get caught in the incredibly fast shrinking comments, it's a death spiral.

The Sadducees did not believe in resurrection, whereas the Pharisees did, see Acts 23:8.

You don't seem to understand the difference in tenor in the words of James compared to Paul. James emphasizes the importance of loving neighbors especially the poor. Paul with just one sentence for the sake of poor invents a ritual of communion by inserting the word 'remembrance' on his own (v.25)! So according to Paul eating a piece of bread and gulping small amount of wine together will assure sharing of rich with poor. A big deal!

Well your not going to read it obviously so what's the point. The communion along with the pot luck dinner was what they were both talking about. It doesn't matter with you because with the text right in front of you your not going to acknowledge the obvious. By the way, the remembrance goes back to the Upper Room, you dismiss that so shamelessly, that's just plain wrong.

I have been continuously reading many parts of the Bible to understand better and arrive at the correct insight.

So it was potluck dinner in notorious Corinthian church in contrast to shared arrangements in Jerusalem church. Jesus put an end to all kinds of rituals. He never said to start a ritual by using the word 'remembrance'. The witnesses of the Last Supper, Matthew and John don't record it. Mark who got information from Peter also did not record it. The verses in Luke were later insertions.

You have been simply overwhelmed by the bottom heavy portion of the NT!

Well you managed to miss the entire point shamelessly, that was slick. The Lord's Supper is a version of the Passover that discards all but the breaking of bread and drinking of wine, Jesus himself was the Passover Lamb. Anyway, what I was pointing out is that in the Agape meal the poor were being mistreated in both churches, James and Paul were disciplining their respective churches with the same scathing tone. What is the Royal Law?
