Just browsing threads I'm no longer participating in and struck by something.
How is it that the very same persons who voice such a vehement objection to the teaching of Tradition on some point or other - "because it's not in the Bible!" - can turn right around and take one phrase in the Bible and add their own interpretation (shared by no one?) and defend it as if it's a matter of life and death?
Is it just me, or does that imply a huge heaping dose of pride in one's own ability? Not that I want to blame them, but because I shudder and think I used to do the same.
I thank God for His mercy.
And I was reminded today that I stumbled upon ccel as a newly recommitted Christian with no real knowledge of anything. And I still remember my reaction to this day - a deep suspicion that whoever the folks were that wrote those things, some of it wasn't at all Biblical. How ironic! What an idiot I was, lol.
And again? I simply thank God for His mercy.
