Knowing the NSA and other 3 letter agencies actually read all our posts, be careful what you share....

I know in Australia we have firearm restrictions so I don't mention weapons much or what or how much I have or where it is.

So to start off, This week has been busy finishing the wife's green house. For preps we have brought some square 20lt buckets and lids for the rice and beans.
I also just received my new Anker 21w solar charger, I do have a Goal Zero 10w but the Anker is half the price and 21w. I had to buy a couple of double ended USB cables so I can test it this week.

I pray others will take the time to do this with me,
Blessings
Gaz

Funny... I am in the process of writing another book. "The Diary of a Christian Prepper."
Should be completed in a month or two.

Sometimes it is all we can do to watch some youtube videos about prepping. We have some favorites we watch all the time.... too numerous to mention now. I will try to make a list. Tons of good tips on prepping, gardening, chickens, goats, cooking, etc.etc.

Good thread. Hope to contribute more. It will be good content for the aforementioned book.

Dried Big Lima Beans dropped in price, about 20 cents a pound. Still not cheap... but Barbara and I can make 2 meals out of the 4 pounds. Rice is just about free. About 2.50 a meal for the both of us.
Now that's prepping!

Been scrolling through my posts over the last couple years cutting and pasting my entries into the afore mentioned book "Diary of a Christian Prepper." I have also borrowed some of your ideas fellow Christian preppers! Great stuff. Blessings to you all.

Just had the 9kva jenny and my tractor serviced by a christian brother (Mechanic) today, got to share prepping to him and offer him a home here if he wanted somewhere to live off grid.

Our new lamps are working great and the new smokeless oil is great. Have priced a 200lt drum. That should last 3-4 years burning 5 lamps full time. (4-5hrs a night)

Rented a van and took two loads of junk to the dump. We are basically lightening up our load in preparation of moving upsate next month. Added some pasta to our preps. Good deal at WalMart. 2.10 for 3 pounds of macaroni. .70 a pound.
Continuing work on the "Diary of a Christian Prepper." Added 12 pages last weekend. May not have time to do this weekend. Next weekend we are upstate.

Some basics to remember: Salt, spices, sugar, and something to add to the rice and beans for flavor.
Dried fruit, dried meat and nuts will keep for a long time. All are good for snacks or to add to meals.
Oil, vinegar, cooking and baking supplies such as corn starch, baking powder and baking soda.
Powdered stuff: cheese, whole milk (unless you just prefer fat free), eggs, protein drinks, so much available now.

You hit a concern of our pat34lee. We have plenty of "main" ingredients for meals... like beans, rice, dehydrated and freeze dried vegetables and even some meats. But we need the seasons and spices and extras that turn these "main" ingredients into enjoyable meals. We are concerned about "appetite fatigue" where your appetite actually decreases because of the boring diet. So we are investigating designing meals and finding what spices and extras we need to vary the menu and keep it interesting.
I think a good garden with fresh vegetables and fruits will help here.

We had all the bulk spices stored in mason jars but no storage for them, they were on dressers and on the floor and on make shift things, we just had a large shelf built in the hallway off the kitchen area for them. Not the best spot though because they will get more light, so I am looking into some sort of pull down blinds to have installed, just to help out a little.

And ours was inspired by this one here (but I didn't want the crown molding) or black finish

3323741

Which is from Hometalk(dot)com (shows you step by step how they built it).

I only wish I didn't request one taller than the one in the below picture because in doing that I cut out a lot of storage options at the top of the shelf. Not much at all will fit on the top of mine like the one on the bottom.

ordering some more rechargeable AA an AAA batteries. (can never have too many AA an AAA Bat's)

Need to order some more heirloom seeds for next year! Next will be a stored food audit.
We are going the route of buying rechargable batteries and some solar chargers. I think the chargers will wear out before the batteries. They are expensive (the batteries) but they should last the rest of our lives.

We buy bulk herbs & Spices and put them in Mylar with Oxygen absorbers for long term (Keeps them fresh) and Jars for bulk pickling. (Wife loves making sauces and chutney's)
Don't forget bulk salt for drying/pickling etc...

Yep rechargeable batteries are expensive but will last up to 1000 recharges. Eneloop bat's are my choice.

Thanks for the tip on the batteries... we are due to stock up on another batch.
Salt and sugar- Yup. We buy it by the 20 pound bag and store it in mylar. Don't use O2 absorbers in the sugar. It creates a chemical reaction that turns it hard as a rock Cannot even chip it with a hammer. We have a sugar boulder to prove it.

If you open a #10 can of cheese power.. make sure you seal it up in a tight plastic bag or even seal it. It gets as hard as a rock also. I think it may be the moisture.

Brown sugar is just white granulated sugar with molasses added.

Recipe:
1/2 lb. sugar
1.5 oz molasses

Blend it in a blender or food processor. The amount of molasses added determines whether it becomes light brown or dark brown sugar. Much better taste than store bought.

Plastic parts storage containers come in all sizes
from small square to long skinny.
That may be a good way to store some small stuff.
