  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What's on your mind?

Coming to terms with the fact that I'll probably never be allowed to join the military *sigh* I've wanted to since I was 15... grandfather was in it, brother was in it... runs in our genes.

But since I have paranoid schizophrenia and have to take medication for it, even though it's proven I'm mentally stable while on medication, they still won't let me join. The recruiter I spoke to over the phone told me it would be because of the medication...can't have a dependency like that...

I'm sure God has other plans for me, and I am potentially going to school here soon for something else I enjoy (computer programming) but it just doesn't feel good to be told no based on something that's not in my power to change.

It's just odd because I was so sure that was my destiny in life, that I would be in the army and help people in that way... it just fits my personality so well. I felt (and still feel) called to it.

I guess feelings are feelings? Heart is deceitful, etc? I don't know, frustrating though.

I'm in a military family too. My Great Grandparents fought in World War II, my father repaired aircraft in the Gulf War, my mother worked as a military typist, and two of my cousins joined the army. What's more is that I live in a military town with one of the largest aircraft bases in the country. Despite people recommending me to join the military, I could not handle it. I'd have a friggin meltdown in boot camp due to my Asperger's.

Besides, why join the military? Why do we want to go through pain and hardship in boot camp to get a chance to take life instead of enduring hardship to preserve life? When Peter tried to defend Jesus through force, Jesus said, "Enough of this! Those who live by the sword die by the sword!"

I've come to realize that in Heaven, there will be a lot of jobs that will be obsolete like the military, police force, fire department, doctors, nurses, lawyers, security guards, and the like. Many jobs in history are the result of living in an imperfect world. I'd much rather be a cartoonist in Heaven than to join the military on Earth, no matter how much worldly glory it brings.

So today a user offered me a $20 Amazon gift card in exchange for a couple drawings. I made him the drawings for free instead.

This made me think, during my bad days I have often lashed out at God for giving others useful talents that they can make money off of but not me. People with talent nowadays can make money through websites like Patreon or through ad revenue on YouTube. This is the first time I was ever offered payment for a piece of artwork and I'm well aware that I'm nowhere near being a professional like you see on Deviant Art.

God gave us talents to serve each other for His glory. In an ideal society, we all contribute what we can for the betterment of humanity. Sadly, human nature makes this impossible. Was God testing me or something? Did I pass? I don't know.

Just my two cents on it. It was a nice feeling getting a request like this. I think the guy's day being made was enough of a payment for me.

Hi. I'm glad to have helped you, and I'm also glad you helped me.

Your work is worth $10 a drawing though, at least. Just being honest. At the fast rate you work, you might be able to make a little money, charging the right people.

This is all just my opinion.

Nothing screams "kid movie" like bestiality, kidnapping, Stockholm Syndrome, witchcraft, and old man abuse lol

You're forgetting about how everyone loves a shallow man with narcissistic personality disorder.

Cody you are one cool dude
I hope it brings you down memory lane and that you love it!
I like to think so :cool1:

I really enjoyed it! At first I was like "Emma Watson as Bell hmmm...." but I warmed up to it. I think a couple of those songs weren't in the original? Unless I'm just not remembering a couple of them, it's been so long. Anyway it was really well done.

Yeah I am in no way fully decided that I would join the military... rather it's been a strong desire and it's disappointed me that if I ever do come to a place of saying yes to wanting to join, that I can't based soley on a mental disorder that's under control.

The morals behind it are complicated. Because on one hand, bad people need to be stopped and killing them is the only way in some situations. On the other hand, is a Christian supposed to be the one who does such things? It's highly debated.

There's honor in the military though imo. Not to get into a debate in WOYM though.

I had a rough night cooking, went to flip some burgers on the
top rack in the stove and accidentally caught the oven mitt on fire, than wasnt paying attention to the carrots
cooking and burnt them. Luckily I blew out the flames and put the oven mitt under the kitchen sink, and didnt get hurt.

Oh wow :O Glad you didn't get hurt. I almost had a fire here a couple nights ago myself, left chicken strips in the oven and went on the computer and forgot about them! They were in an extra 30-45mins, took them out and they were very burnt. I've started a couple kitchen fires in my day because of my horrible short-term memory due to my mental disorder, thankfully nothing really serious has happened yet (only thanks to God of course).

For now on my family doesnt want me using the top rack in the stove anymore to avoid hitting the heating element again.

@MehGuy
I see you there rating my post as "Prayers." :nono: Speaking of which, are they really just going to leave it as the word prayers and not put some form of praying image? Very aesthetic...

It's a prayer image for me. Lol.

This is what I'm seeing
View attachment 192946
Screenshot what you're seeing or I'm thinking you're bluffing like usual lol

When you finally see it you'll know my description is telling the truth..

It's two hands clasped together with blue lines encompassing it.

I just think it's you're Canadian Internet that is being slow, lol.

You know, I'm going to debunk you on this but I'll have to do it later. My mother needs to use the phone right now...
