  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

You must not know very many Sunnis/Wahhabis then. Their goal is to restore the Caliphate, and kill anyone who doesn't follow their sect (especially Shias). If their goals aren't genocidal I don't know what are.

I didn't say they wouldn't target Shi'ites. In fact, I explicitly stated that the Alawites would likely be massacred.
And yes, the Wahhabi types do not want to give Christians their traditional rights either, but most Sunnis aren't Wahhabis. As for restoring the Caliphate, there is no candidate on the horizon. The Caliphate movement is very small, much smaller in fact than the Wahhabis. And by the way, Christians were generally treated well by the Caliphs.

Immigrants, even the illegal ones, are rarely unskilled. I once worked in a frozen food packing plant and no way could I keep up with those Mexican ladies! During the recession a lot of illegal construction workers went home. There was lots of construction work in South America at the time due to a mining boom in places like Peru. But we cannot get agricultural workers to do what these migrants do. The United Farm Workers started a website called "Take my job" where they promised a job to any American in agricultural labor who asked for one. They couldn't promise you would be able to keep it however. Most Americans simply can't do this kind of work.

Oh I agree completely, Americans tend to think that things like food magically appear out of thin air and its "someone else's problem" to produce it all. Most Americans complain that there aren't enough easy jobs, is what it comes down to.

But I still think there is a huge risk. America is not always the most inviting country, people will see massive camps of refugees (many of whom cannot speak any English) and will not be interested in integrating them into American culture. I'm not saying we'd have European levels of cultural division but I guess I still see more negatives than positives.

Of course it will never come down to a vote, but if it did I would try to help people in whatever way possible.

It seems to me that Moslems throughout much of history treated Christians better than we Christians treated Moslems back during the dark ages!!!!

The US hasn't quite figured out that this is the only thing that will save our Social Security over the long run.

Canada has already been welcoming to Baha'i refugees, as has the US and Australia.

I agree that immigration is the key to paying for our ageing populations!!!

It is truly encouraging to read that my nation has been welcoming to Bahai's! We should do more though!!!!!!

What happened in the Balkans in the 1990s can be called nothing but genocide. Indeed, there is a case to be made that the current generation of Islamic terrorists were inspired partly by the genocide to take up arms, as they felt that Muslims were being oppressed by a Christian-Jewish conspiracy. Even today, many Muslims believe there's a Christian-Jewish-Hindu-Buddhist conspiracy to destroy Islam and kill Muslims.

Frankly........there is a statement by Messiah Jesus/ Yeshua that implies that during times of famine and disaster it is astonishing how bad we might behave.

"if they do these things in a green tree.....what will they do in the dry?"

Cannibalism became somewhat commonplace during the Roman siege of Jerusalem.

If you are referring to the so called "Srebrenica genocide" it is a lie. A big lie by Islamists. The Islamists used their taqiyya to fool the world. There is no evidence that shows 8000 muslims were killed by Serbs forces. If I could post links I would prove it.

Smaneck.....I have another discussion going that I believe you will enjoy and be at least somewhat inspired by:

http://www.christianforums.com/t7775577/

God's Peace Plan for the Holy Land!
I have already read this fifty page document two times and am planning to read it again for the third time as soon as possible.

God's Peace Plan for the Holy Land

God's Peace Plan for the Holy Land

(Scroll down to the link: Click Here to Download Your Copy of the Peace Plan).

......
I personally think that what Dannion Brinkley was shown during his near death experience regarding a peace deal between Jordan and Israel has a lot of potential......and I feel that God's Peace Plan for the Holy Land as well as The Engagement Movement began by Mr. Tsvi Misinai could be the catalysts that would make a Jordanian and Israeli deal possible?!

Dannion Brinkley:
......................
"Boxes four and five were scenes from the Middle East, showing how this area of eternal strife would reach a boiling point. Religion would play a large role in these problems, as would the economy. A constant need for outside money fueled much of the anger and hatred that I saw in these boxes. In the first of these boxes I saw two agreements taking place. In the first, Israelis and Arabs were agreeing to something, but what was unclear to me.The second accord was one that I could see in some detail. Men were shaking hands and there was much talk about a new country. Then I saw a collage of images: the River Jordan, a settlement from Israel that was spreading into Jordan, and a map on which the country of Jordan was changing color.

As I watched this puzzling collage unfold, I heard a Being speak telepathically to me and say that the country of Jordan would exist no more. I did not hear the name of the new country
(Dannion Brinkley, page 26, Saved By The Light, Scribd version)

Christianity does no such thing and for you to conflate that with what DT said is either poor reading, or bizarre.

Of course!!!! HAB Theory!!!!! I should have thought of it before...… HAB Theory can be the catalyst that causes Conservatives to take climate change seriously........ and come to support heavy investment in turning deserts green.... which will certainly alter the Middle East political and spiritual climate!!!!!!!!?

At a symposium of the Union of Geodesy and geophysics, Dr. Pyyotor Shoumsky reported that the south polar ice cap was growing at a minimum rate of 293 cubic miles of ice annually. To put that number in perspective, Lake Erie contains only 109 cubic miles of water. Thus, a volume of ice forms on top of the existing ice at Antarctica each year which is almost three times the volume of water in Lake Erie!

The same thing we can do for other refugees and victims of ethnic cleansing and human rights violations.

- Pray for them
- Have our homes open to those who have been able to flee
- Give money and other aid to those who are working on their behalf
- If possible, go to the conflict zone as a human rights monitor or human shield or nurse or doctor
- Lobby politicians to stop any co-operation with the oppressors
- Keep spreading awareness, don't let the issue "die down" in the awareness and consciousness of others you know"
- Boycott business and picket embassies of countries that are directly involved in the oppression

Trust God, and let Him use to create justice in the world. Be Jesus' hands and feet.

In the summer of 2012 I saw an episode of Sid Roth where Pastor Shane Warren reports being shown a hurricane of money that he understood as a devaluation of the USA dollar.

A few months later Pastor David Herzog was on Sid Roth and reported being shown that during a time of economic upheaval a segment of the population of the USA would blame Israel........and American Jews.... and they would have to flee to Canada and then on to Israel.

Well.... the first part of this seems to be happening as we write:

Russia Is Doing It – Russia Is Actually Abandoning The Dollar

Russia Is Doing It – Russia Is Actually Abandoning The Dollar

By Michael Snyder, on June 10th, 2014

The Russians are actually making a move against the petrodollar. It appears that they are quite serious about their de-dollarization strategy. The largest natural gas producer on the planet, Gazprom, has signed agreements with some of their biggest customers to switch payments for natural gas from U.S. dollars to euros. And Gazprom would have never done this without the full approval of the Russian government, because the Russian government holds a majority stake in Gazprom. There hasn't been a word about this from the big mainstream news networks in the United States, but this is huge. When you are talking about Gazprom, you are talking about a company that is absolutely massive. It is one of the largest companies in the entire world and it makes up 8 percent of Russian GDP all by itself. It holds 18 percent of the natural gas reserves of the entire planet, and it is also a very large oil producer. So for Gazprom to make a move like this is extremely significant.

Sorry, I'm a late-comer to the thread.

Lots of people are dying in the Syrian conflicts right now. Christians are targeted right now, just as much as many other minority groups. I fear for the Syrian future and I think we are at risk of seeing another fundamentalist Islamist government take control but by no means are Christians the only one dying in Syria.

The problem is the philosophy of intervention, though. The US is tired of war for once so we REALLY don't want to go but it looks like nobody else is going to intervene. Then of course is the question, is it actually right to intervene?

It's complicated.

I think the West should offer asylum to the homeless Christians of Syria and Iraq. Let the locals sort out ISIS as they are hated by just about everybody there

I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!

Any nation that will take them in in significant numbers……… will experience amazing blessings as a result.
Matthew 10:42
"And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward."

I think you missed the point of the story....
But...... during the time of the "restitution of all things" that is predicted to occur in the latter days....... shouldn't that curse be reversed/ cancelled???!

Matthew 17:11

"And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things."

Act 3:21

"Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began."

Yes, the primary meaning in this verse is negative and we humans are so astonishingly destructive that yes, at that time God was forced to confound our languages because we would have developed nuclear weapons 4000 years ago if He had not scattered us in many directions.

Dennis, we developed nuclear weapons because we were divided not united!

Whoops, I didn't realize I was responding to a resurrected thread. But speaking of ISIS there is a very good book coming out on them written by my good friend Will McCants entitled ISIS Apocalypse:
http://www.amazon.com/ISIS-Apocalyp...id=1440013614&sr=8-1&keywords=isis+apocalypse

This article gives you a good preview of what it is about:

http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2015/08/isis-jihad-121525_full.html#.VdX5WvlVikr

I think I mentioned before in this forum that Will McCants is about the only person who runs a blog discussing jihadists that consistently gets it right.

True.............. but nuclear weapons could not have been developed unless large groups of humans were cooperating together on the project.

Sounds really interesting!

The Islamic State is one of the most lethal and successful jihadist groups in modern history, surpassing even al-Qaeda. Thousands of its followers have marched across Syria and Iraq, subjugating millions, enslaving women, beheading captives, and daring anyone to stop them. Thousands more have spread terror beyond the Middle East under the Islamic State's black flag.

How did the Islamic State attract so many followers and conquer so much land? By being more ruthless, more apocalyptic, and more devoted to state-building than its competitors. The shrewd leaders of the Islamic State combined two of the most powerful yet contradictory ideas in Islam-the return of the Islamic Empire and the end of the world-into a mission and a message that shapes its strategy and inspires its army of zealous fighters. They have defied conventional thinking about how to wage wars and win recruits. Even if the Islamic State is defeated, jihadist terrorism will never be the same.

Based almost entirely on primary sources in Arabic-including ancient religious texts and secret al-Qaeda and Islamic State letters that few have seen -The ISIS Apocalypse explores how religious fervor, strategic calculation, and doomsday prophecy shaped the Islamic State's past and foreshadow its dark future.
