It's good to be aware of the concept of "Jihad" when we're discussing some of these issues... I'm convinced that violence against unarmed defenseless people is not what has been intended or meant by the term "Jihad" or struggle..

The BBC has a good summary:

What can justify Jihad?
There are a number of reasons, but the Qur'an is clear that self-defence is always the underlying cause.

Permissable reasons for military Jihad:

  • Self-defence
  • Strengthening Islam
  • Protecting the freedom of Muslims to practise their faith
  • Protecting Muslims against oppression, which could include overthrowing a tyrannical ruler
  • Punishing an enemy who breaks an oath
  • Putting right a wrong
What a Jihad is not
A war is not a Jihad if the intention is to:

  • Force people to convert to Islam
  • Conquer other nations to colonise them
  • Take territory for economic gain
  • Settle disputes
  • Demonstrate a leader's power
Although the Prophet engaged in military action on a number of occasions, these were battles to survive, rather than conquest, and took place at a time when fighting between tribes was common.

I suspect it's because the word Muslim means follower of God, not follower of Islam. Once the religion is formed the meaning is lost because now a Muslim is somebody that is part of the Islamic faith, but not necessarily a follower of God, thus not a Muslim (by the words meaning) in her eyes.
Does this same concept belong to Christianity too?

How can you say they were not Muslims? I'm sure they were very devoted to Islam, and they were doing something that they considered to be noble. They were not very different from the Japanese soldiers who selflessly sacrificed themselves in kamikaze attacks. They were Japanese heroes. (I realize that is probably politically incorrect of me, but that is what I think.)

EDIT: Of course the Islamic terrorism was not part of a formal war, so that made it somewhat different from the Japanese example I mentioned above.
i am a muslim talking here and not a Christian...I am telling you as a muslim those terrorist are not doing something noble in the Islamic point of view.... and they will not enter to paradise..plz memorize this information

read this verse of the Quran:
"Because of that We ordained for the Children of Israel that if anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land - it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind."
is this a call for killing or call for stop killing people ?? the verse is clear...this is the teaching of our prophet to save people and not to kill them..this is the word of the Quran the book of Mohammad inviting us to save people and to stop killing innocents is that clear?

So Muhammed's extermination of the Jews of Medina was a justifiable battle for survival? It looked to me like genocide, but what do I know?
who told you so??? prophet Mohammad was living peacefully in one land along with jews..read the history of the early Arab
The Tolerance of the Prophet towards Other Religions (All parts) - The Religion of Islam
you are simply not trying to accept Mohammad as a man of peace ..how can I discuss with you anything while you are already believing that Mohammad is an evil man???
Mohammad is not an evil man..Mohammad used to treat their neighbor jews as one of the community..he used to help them and protect them
the promise of prophet Mohammad to Christians:
“This is a message from Muhammad ibn Abdullah, as a covenant to those who adopt Christianity, near and far, we are with them.
Verily I, the servants, the helpers, and my followers defend them, because Christians are my citizens; and by Allah! I hold out against anything that displeases them.
https://www.onfaith.co/onfaith/2009/12/30/prophet-muhammads-promise-to-christians/125
No compulsion is to be on them. Neither are their judges to be removed from their jobs nor their monks from their monasteries. No one is to destroy a house of their religion, to damage it, or to carry anything from it to the Muslims’ houses.
Should anyone take any of these, he would spoil God’s covenant and disobey His Prophet. Verily, they are my allies and have my secure charter against all that they hate

What did Jesus say of the Pharisees who were teaching an altered version of the Scriptures?
If all religions were okay, why did Jesus tell us to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth? Why did He tell us that He and only He was the redeemer of man?
Our Muslim friends are following a false religion that will lead them to destruction. We are not showing love if we shut up and let them be destroyed by their sins. Most will ignore us, but if one looks at the evil behavior of the false prophet, looks at the evil command that apostates be killed (no religion of a true God would say such a thing) and finds the one true God, Creator of Heaven and Earth, reachable only through His son Jesus, then it's worth it.

Where are the voices of our Christian brothers and sisters? Do we not want to share eternity with our Muslim friends? Are we so selfish that we refuse to share the message of redemption through Christ our Savior? Do we not see that our Lord warned of false prophets who would deceive many? Our Muslim friends are here reaching out to us. Don't we owe it to them and to our Lord to tell them the truth?
our prophet is not a false prophet and my religion is not a false one.
why can't you believe that prophet Mohammad didn't order his followers to do bad and evil deeds..he didn't order people to kill themselves..he will not congragulate those terrorist he will throw them in hell by his own hand....who told you that we don't believe that Jesus is the way to reach God the one. as I muslim I do believe that and who pushed me to believe in this??? my prophet Mohammad
if a prophet pushes you to believe in all monotheistic religion is this concept shows a false prophet and an evil man and a false religion or a religion of peace and dispute???
the Quran shows the great status of virgin Mariah and of jesus the spirit from God.. is that a false religion:

Those Messengers! We preferred some to others; to some of them Allah spoke (directly); others He raised to degrees (of honour); and to 'Iesa (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), We gave clear proofs and evidences, and supported him with Ruh-ul-Qudus [Jibrael (Gabriel)]. If Allah had willed, succeeding generations would not have fought against each other, after clear Verses of Allah had come to them, but they differed - some of them believed and others disbelieved. If Allah had willed, they would not have fought against one another, but Allah does what He likes. (AL-bAKARA253)

Then when she delivered her [child Maryam (Mary)], she said: "O my Lord! I have delivered a female child," - and Allah knew better what she delivered, - "And the male is not like the female, and I have named her Maryam (Mary), and I seek refuge with You (Allah) for her and for her offspring from Shaitan (Satan), the outcast."(AL IMRAN 36)

And (remember) when the angels said: "O Maryam (Mary)! Verily, Allah has chosen you, purified you (from polytheism and disbelief), and chosen you above the women of the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns) (of her lifetime)."(AL Imran 42)

(Remember) when the angels said: "O Maryam (Mary)! Verily, Allah gives you the glad tidings of a Word ["Be!" - and he was! i.e. 'Iesa (Jesus) the son of Maryam (Mary)] from Him, his name will be the Messiah 'Iesa (Jesus), the son of Maryam (Mary), held in honour in this world and in the Hereafter, and will be one of those who are near to Allah."(AL IMRAN 45)

And in their footsteps, We sent 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary) , confirming the Taurat (Torah) that had come before him, and We gave him the Injeel (Gospel), in which was guidance and light and confirmation of the Taurat (Torah) that had come before it, a guidance and an admonition for Al-Muttaqun (the pious - see V.2:2).(AL MAIDA 46)

(Remember) when Allah will say (on the Day of Resurrection). "O 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Remember My Favour to you and to your mother when I supported you with Ruh-ul-Qudus [Jibrael (Gabriel)] so that you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and when I taught you writing, Al-Hikmah (the power of understanding), the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel); and when you made out of the clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My Permission, and you breathed into it, and it became a bird by My Permission, and you healed those born blind, and the lepers by My Permission, and when you brought forth the dead by My Permission; and when I restrained the Children of Israel from you (when they resolved to kill you) since you came unto them with clear proofs, and the disbelievers among them said: 'This is nothing but evident magic.' "(AL MAIDA 110)
IS THIS A FALSE RELIGION??? IS THE ONE REVEALING THESE VERSE IS AN EVIL MAN A FALSE PROPHET????

So Muhammed's extermination of the Jews of Medina was a justifiable battle for survival? It looked to me like genocide, but what do I know?

The "genocide" you maybe referring to was a case where a well armed community had made some fifth column overtures to Meccan pagans who were going to attack Medina. A "referee" agreed upon by the group made the decision that able bodied males should be executed. Read the article:

Muhammad arrived in Medina in 622 believing the Jewish tribes would welcome him. Contrary to expectation, his relations with several of the Jewish tribes in Medina were uneasy almost from the start. This was probably largely a matter of local politics. Medina was not so much a city as a fractious agricultural settlement dotted by fortresses and strongholds, and all relations in the oasis were uneasy. In fact, Muhammad had been invited there to arbitrate a bloody civil war between the Khazraj and the Aws Allah, in which the Jewish clans, being their clients, were embroiled.

At Muhammad's insistence, Medina's pagan, Muslim and Jewish clans signed a pact to protect each other, but achieving this new social order was difficult. Certain individual pagans and recent Medinan converts to Islam tried to thwart the new arrangement in various ways, and some of the Jewish clans were uneasy with the threatened demise of the old alliances. At least three times in five years, Jewish leaders, uncomfortable with the changing political situation in Medina, went against Muhammad, hoping to restore the tense, sometimes bloody-but predictable-balance of power among the tribes.

According to most sources, individuals from among these clans plotted to take his life at least twice, and once they came within a bite of poisoning him. Two of the tribes--the Banu Nadir and the Banu Qaynuqa--were eventually exiled for falling short on their agreed upon commitments and for the consequent danger they posed to the nascent Muslim community.

The danger was great. During this period, the Meccans were actively trying to dislodge Muhammad militarily, twice marching large armies to Medina. Muhammad was nearly killed in the first engagement, on the plains of Uhud just outside of Medina. In their second and final military push against Medina, now known as the Battle of the Trench, the Meccans recruited allies from northwestern Arabia to join the fight, including the assistance of the two exiled Jewish tribes. In addition, they sent envoys to the largest Jewish tribe still in Medina, the Banu Qurayza, hoping to win their support. The Banu Qurayza's crucial location on the south side of Medina would allow the Meccans to attack Muhammad from two sides.

The Banu Qurayza were hesitant to join the Meccan alliance, but when a substantial Meccan army arrived, they agreed.

As a siege began, the Banu Qurayza nervously awaited further developments. Learning of their intention to defect and realizing the grave danger this posed, Muhammad initiated diplomatic efforts to keep the Banu Qurayza on his side. Little progress was made. In the third week of the siege, the Banu Qurayza signaled their readiness to act against Muhammad, although they demanded that the Meccans provide them with hostages first, to ensure that they wouldn't be abandoned to face Muhammad alone. Yet that is exactly what happened. The Meccans, nearing exhaustion themselves, refused to give the Banu Qurayza any hostages. Not long after, cold, heavy rains set in, and the Meccans gave up the fight and marched home, to the horror and dismay of the Banu Qurayza.

What you describe is an unjustifiable war crime, a genocide, the first of many committed under the banner of Islam. Following in their footsteps, Christians of North Africa, the Syriacs killed by Tamerlane, the Syriacs killed by the Turks, also the Armenians, the Pontic Greeks, and now the Copts, the Antiochians, the Assyrians of the Nineveh plain, the Suroye, and also outside of Christianity, the Yazidis, the Yarsanis, the Kalashas of Kafiristan in Afghanistan and Pakistan, your own Bahais...

Maybe it was genocide but is it any worse than the genocide committed by Christians over the centuries?

Yes, both in terms of bodycount and extermination ratio.

our prophet is not a false prophet and my religion is not a false one.
There are 7 traits of a false prophet.
1. Different Source—Where does the message come from?

Peter said, "For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.(2nd Peter 1:16). He warns that the false teachers will exploit you with the things they make up. (2:3). The true teacher sources his lessons from the Scriptures. The false teacher, like Mohammed, invents things which are not in the Scriptures.

2. Different Message—What is the substance of the message?

For the true teacher, Jesus Christ is central. “We have everything we need for life and godliness in Him” (1:3). For the false teacher, Jesus is at the margins: “They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them” (2:1). Mohammed taught that Jesus was NOT the son of God, that He was Not crucified and that Jesus was just another prophet. "We make no distinction between any of them," (Sura 3:84).

Note that nobody attempting to deceive would deny the existence of Jesus entirely. Instead they try to marginalize Him and set themselves above Him. That's exactly what Mohammed did.

3. Different Position—In what position will the message leave you?

The true Christian “escapes the corruption in the world caused by evil desires” (1:4). A false teacher is consumed by corruption. They have eyes full of adultery, insatiable for sin. They entice unsteady souls. They have hearts trained in greed. Accursed children! They have gone astray. (2:14-15)
Mohammed had 13 wives and was known for taking slaves as he desired. He is the living definition of the false prophet Peter warned would come and deceive many.

4. Different Character—What kind of people does the message produce?

The true believer pursues goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brother kindness, and love (1:5). The counterfeit Christian is marked by arrogance and slander (2:10). They are “experts in greed” and “their eyes are full of adultery” (2:14). They also “despise authority” (2:10). They write things like "Take not Christians or jews as friends," and they speak of the rocks encouraging the Muslim man to come and kill the Jew. Step back and look at the things that Mohammed actually did in his life. Is that the life of a prophet or a bandit?

5. Different Appeal—Why should you listen to the message?

The true teacher appeals to Scripture. “We have the word of the prophets made more certain and you will do well to pay attention to it” (1:19). God has spoken, and the true teacher appeals to his Word. The false teacher makes a rather different appeal: “By appealing to the lustful desires of sinful human nature, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error” (2:18). So a real prophet would tell people what God has revealed through His holy word. The false teacher tells people what they want to hear. He feeds on their desire to serve God by appealing to their nature to do evil.

6. Different Fruit—What result does the message have in people's lives?

The true believer is effective and productive in his or her knowledge of Jesus Christ (1:8). The counterfeit is “like a spring without water” (2:17). Looking at the true prophet one should see a representative of Christ. With Mohammed, you have Genghis Kahn with a book of poetry.

7. Different End—Where does the message ultimately lead you?

The true believer will receive “a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1:11). The false believer will experience “swift destruction” (2:1). “Their condemnation has long been hanging over them and their destruction has not been sleeping” (2:3). The false prophet does not go to Heaven. The false prophet is condemned to eternal torment in the lake of fire for the sin of leading people away from the Lord and to their own false religion. Mohammed fits all the criteria of a false prophet. His way leads not to Heaven, but to destruction.

This is the teaching of the word of God. It is not opinion. It is not made up teaching. We were warned about people like Mohammed.
source

why can't you believe that prophet Mohammad didn't order his followers to do bad and evil deeds.
Because we have his history.
The apostle said, “Kill any Jew that falls into your power.” Thereupon Muhayyisa leapt upon Ibn Sunayna, a Jewish merchant with whom they had social and business relations, and killed him. Huwayyisa was not a Muslim at the time, though he was the elder brother. When Muhayyisa killed [the Jew] Huwayyisa began to beat him, saying, “You enemy of God, did you kill him when much of the fat on your belly comes from his wealth?” Muhayyisa answered, “Had the one who ordered me to kill him ordered me to kill you I would have cut your head off.” This was the beginning of Huwayyisa’s acceptance of Islam… [Huwayyisa] replied exclaimed, “By God, a religion which can bring you to this is marvelous!” and he became a Muslim. (Ibn Ishaq/Hisham 554)
Facts are stubborn things, are they not?

.he will not congragulate those terrorist he will throw them in hell by his own hand.
Make up your mind. Is he a prophet or is he God? Only God can throw people into hell.
...who told you that we don't believe that Jesus is the way to reach God the one.
The religion of Islam.
if a prophet pushes you to believe in all monotheistic religion is this concept shows a false prophet and an evil man and a false religion or a religion of peace and dispute???
Anyone who tells you to believe in all monotheistic religions either doesn't understand them or is lying to you. You can't believe equally in conflicting messages. If you believe what Jesus taught, you can't believe anything Mohammed ever said.
the Quran shows the great status of virgin Mariah and of jesus the spirit from God.. is that a false religion:
Yes. It states that Jesus is NOT the son of God and NOT the only redeemer of the sins of man. it denies the crucifixion, the resurrection and the ascension into heaven. Do you deny this? It concurs just enough so that people with a passing familiarity with the Bible might give it some validity.

Then when she delivered her [child Maryam (Mary)], she said: "O my Lord! I have delivered a female child," - and Allah knew better what she delivered,
So Islam teaches that Mary didn't know a boy baby from a girl baby??

(Remember) when Allah will say (on the Day of Resurrection). "O 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)... Remember.... when you made out of the clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My Permission, and you breathed into it, and it became a bird
Isn't just like a false prophet to quote a story from a book written 100 years after Jesus died, The Infancy Gospel of Thomas, which was known to be false from the beginning?
IS THIS A FALSE RELIGION???
Yes.
IS THE ONE REVEALING THESE VERSE IS AN EVIL MAN A FALSE PROPHET????
Yes.
You asked, I answered.

a divine book helps you to know whom you are worshipping whether it was the torah the bible or the Quran...
this difference may be due to the misinterpretation and not a real difference..people understood the message wrongly that is why there are some differences.

Yes, both in terms of bodycount and extermination ratio.
thus if Christians committed genocides can you call it a false religion or a religion of terror?? can you call Jesus a false word of God because his followers committed crimes in his name??? in the name of Christianity??

Make up your mind. Is he a prophet or is he God? Only God can throw people into hell.

The religion of Islam.

Anyone who tells you to believe in all monotheistic religions either doesn't understand them or is lying to you. You can't believe equally in conflicting messages. If you believe what Jesus taught, you can't believe anything Mohammed ever said.

Yes. It states that Jesus is NOT the son of God and NOT the only redeemer of the sins of man. it denies the crucifixion, the resurrection and the ascension into heaven. Do you deny this? It concurs just enough so that people with a passing familiarity with the Bible might give it some validity.

So Islam teaches that Mary didn't know a boy baby from a girl baby??

Isn't just like a false prophet to quote a story from a book written 100 years after Jesus died, The Infancy Gospel of Thomas, which was known to be false from the beginning?

Yes.

Yes.
You asked, I answered.

((The false teacher, like Mohammed, invents things which are not in the Scriptures))

A false teacher cannot invite you to believe in Jesus and in Christianity and to believe in the torah and in the bible..don’t you think???

Prophet Mohammad didn’t deny the existence of Jesus nor his high status…yet he simply corrected the concept…Jesus is a manifestation of God and not a God

There is no God but one “the father” is the almighty God.

((Mohammed had 13 wives and was known for taking slaves as he desired))

Mohammad came to free the slaves to be slaves only for God the one…he has no slave for him in his house..this is the first lie about the prophet

I look at the life of prophet Mohammad and I didn’t saw but kindness and mercy…he invited us to be kind to Christians and jews and not to kill them

Prophet Mohammad promised the sinful if they repent to enter to paradise..

“And whosoever repents and does righteous good deeds, then verily, he repents towards Allah with true repentance.”

The story of Huwayissa is a false story..i am a shia muslim and I do rreject this story ….this was invented to deface the reputation of prophet Mohammad…to embrace Islam you should believe in the monotheistic religions one. Second, the Quran says:

“Because of that We ordained for the Children of Israel that if anyone killed a person not in retaliation of murder, or (and) to spread mischief in the land - it would be as if he killed all mankind, and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of all mankind” is this a call of terror and killing or a call of mercy against killing each other??

This is the message of prophet Mohammad

Our prophet Mohammad is a prophet and not God…I am telling you the God of Mohammad will not enter those terrorists to the paradise

Islam and the Quran informs us that the way of Jesus is the right way and it can lead you to the belief of God the almighty but it doesn’t inform you that Jesus the flesh and blood human can be God…God is above description he cannot be a human

I personally as a Muslim cannot find any difference between the teaching of Jesus and that of Mohammad..Mohammad invited us to believe in one god…and Jesus mentioned his Lord the father the only God that you should worship

((So Islam teaches that Mary didn't know a boy baby from a girl baby??))

No you have understood it wrongly….the mother of virgin Mary wanted to bring a man to be aservant of God yet she gave birth of Virgin Mary a woman..

((Isn't just like a false prophet to quote a story from a book written 100 years after Jesus died))

First Prophet Mohammad was illiterate which means he wasn’t able to copy paste issues…a false prophet is the one who mentions the miracles of JESUS??? This verse shows that Jesus used to create birds out of clay..this is a miracle of Jesus..is this a flase information??? A false prophet transmit the miracles of Jesus??

Read the story about the jew neighbor of the prophet in the beginning of this thread you will see the truth of prophet Mohammad

This false prophet revealed the message of God..

((“By appealing to the lustful desires of sinful human nature))

I am wondering who follow the lustful desires of sinful human?? Prophet Mohammad who always speaks about good morals and pushes his followers to do good deeds and to be righteous?? Or the people who commit all bad deeds and says Jesus will pay for us??? Who is pleasing the lustful desires ? followers of Mohammad or you who are ready to do anything in a hope that there is someone who died for his sins???

Verily! Those who believe and those who are Jews and Christians, and Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and do righteous good deeds shall have their reward with their Lord, on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve . (AL-BAKARA 62)

Is this the message of a false prophet or a true one?

Isn’t that closest to the word of God than to deny the prophecy of Mohammad??

"But whoever comes to Him (Allah) as a believer (in the Oneness of Allah, etc.), and has done righteous good deeds, for such are the high ranks (in the Hereafter),(TAHA 75)

Is this can be a follower of lustful desires?? Or an organized plan for being good and righteous people???

I've sent you two links talking about the relation of Mohammad with the Jews and Christians why didn't you read and comprehend it??? all jews and read the history were living peacefully with Mohammad..in Iran now jews are free to practice their religion as they want to there are no persecution on them..here in Lebanon we Christians Muslims and jews are living peacefully submitting to the teachings of our prophet Mohammad...this cannot be a proof upon the kindness of prophet Mohammad??

this is the teaching of the Quran: is that a false religion brought by a false prophet??? I don't think soo:
(Remember) when Allah will say (on the Day of Resurrection). "O 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Remember My Favour to you and to your mother when I supported you with Ruh-ul-Qudus [Jibrael (Gabriel)] so that you spoke to the people in the cradle and in maturity; and when I taught you writing, Al-Hikmah (the power of understanding), the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel); and when you made out of the clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, by My Permission, and you breathed into it, and it became a bird by My Permission, and you healed those born blind, and the lepers by My Permission, and when you brought forth the dead by My Permission; and when I restrained the Children of Israel from you (when they resolved to kill you) since you came unto them with clear proofs, and the disbelievers among them said: 'This is nothing but evident magic.' "(Al Maeda 110)

Mohammad is near God alive....
the simple idea that Jesus is the begotten son of god is denied by our religion unless if you mean by son the servant or the closer being to God or the manifestation of God since god isn't in need of a child. he is not a human to get married and gives birth to a child...this is logically and theologically impossible..
didn't you saw the links that shows prophet Mohammad mentioned in the bible?
i am here to makes things closer...to explain the islamic doctrine for you...to let you know that our god and yours is one unique and to explain the details for you and to let you know why we deny the idea that Jesus was a son of god..Prophet Mohammad invited us to believe in the Christ but not as a son of god, as a manifestation of his mercy
((the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father))
here is the bible mentionning the mighty god who is the everlasting father the god of jesus and jesus worships him isn't that a sign from Jesus to invite you to worship the mighty god the one????
Why are you fighting so hard to prove your God? We respect your beliefs 100% here and don't want to argue with you.
We know not Islam here but only know the message of Christ.
