  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Thank you.

And speaking of sad one trick ponies, do you know your SHOW ME EVIDENCE mantra anagrams to SHOWMEN DECEIVE?

And "Biblical literalist" anagrams to Illicit Satirical Blab, with just a B left over. What's your point?

If I build a log cabin tomorrow out of 2000 year old trees, will experts say my house was built in the year 16?
So when you say the universe was created 4000 years (but is millions of years old - or whatever your weird terminology is) ago, you mean it was created ex materia?

There are a lot of ignorant stances people take regarding this subject to say the least.
First of all it doesn't state anywhere in the Bible when the Earth was created nor how old it is. Anybody that says different is making up garbage.
Second, the stance that creation couldn't have occurred because of the changing world we live in is also garbage.
Creationism and Evolution are both correct. It's about time both sides come to this realization.
Creation actually goes hand in hand with evolution. Look at it this way.
Evolution is the conscious (Spirit filled) act of Creation.
Constant Creation!!

Let's hear one.

Either that, or It does.

"In the beginning ..."
badams429 said:

You are correct.

It doesn't.

God evidently left that one up to scientists to figure out.

But It does say how long the earth has been in existence.

And that's something scientists cannot figure out, even with a calculator.

It takes a childlike spirit to do that.
badams429 said:

I disagree.

YECs, for example, say differently ... and I believe they are sincere about it.

It is not 'made up garbage,' but rather a denial of what the scientists say about the age of the earth.
badams429 said:

No, they aren't.

They are at odds with each other.

So when God suddenly destroys everything with a "great noise," it will be like ... one day He is creating, and the next He suddenly destroys it?

Like a person typing a story, then suddenly rips the paper out of the typewriter and throws it away?

Finish this sentence, please:

If evolution is true, then why _______________ ?

You may also choose:

If creationism is true, then why _____________ ?
Creationism and evolution both have the same evidence.

If evolution is true, then what's up with the hydrax? Seriously, it's just weird.

If creationism is true, then why does all life on earth sort into a nested hierarchy based on morphology, and why do genetic hierarchies looking at non coding DNA unrelated to those morphologies yield the exact same nested hierarchy?

Creationism and evolution both have the same evidence.

And that evidence only supports the theory of evolution.

"Having evidence" does not necessarily mean that evidence supports one's claims.

I have found that creationists as a rule do not understand the nature of evidence. They seem to be terrified of scientific evidence in particular.

1. I see no labels.
2. That is not a four dimensional object, it is a three dimensional representation of a four dimensional object.
3. Do you have any evidence to support the idea that a Christian can comprehend four dimensional space by accepting Jesus? Why weren't Christians proclaiming four spatial dimensions back in the 15th century?

Then give it one.

You might get a Nobel prize.

So?

You asked for a diagram.

And that's even worse, since it's a two-dimensional representation of a four dimensional object.

What kind of question is that?

ANYONE can either accept it (and be right), or reject it (and be wrong).

Like what you and I are doing.
KTS said:

Because they hadn't proclaimed one, two, and three dimensions yet?

Then give it one.

Do I look like your mum? Do your own homework. You're the one saying there are four dimensions here. Label them.

So?

You asked for a diagram.

I asked for a LABELLED diagram.

And that's even worse, since it's a two-dimensional representation of a four dimensional object.

A two dimensional image of a three dimensional projection of a four dimensional object.

What kind of question is that?

ANYONE can either accept it (and be right), or reject it (and be wrong).

Like what you and I are doing.

It's a question that follows from the context of the passage you quoted.

Because they hadn't proclaimed one, two, and three dimensions yet?

According to the passage you quoted, they had proclaimed three dimensions (and an extra one!) long before the 15th century! Try again!

Post 110 please.

I realize they're Biblical labels, meaning educated people won't understand them; but try.

Post 110 is not a labelled diagram. Which one of those dimensions is height?

Try again please.

I'll tell you what...

Look at this picture of a box.

Carton-Pic.jpg

What is the width of this box?
What is the height of this box?
What is the depth of this box?
What is the breadth of this box?

4. What is the breadth of this box?
1. 35 cm
2. 21 cm
3. 28 cm
4. 35 cm

You're Arab phoning those dimensions, aren't you?

How did we get from breadth, length, depth, and height to width, height, depth, and breadth?

And according to string theory, Paul is six spatial dimensions short, isn't he?
