I'm nearly sure I've committed the unpardonable sin. A lot of people say I haven't, but they use the same arguments over and over, and I still have no peace. I sometimes feel very close to suicide because that would be better than letting the unforgivable sin keep replaying over and over in my head. For the record, what I did was believing the Holy Spirit wanted me to do something and I not only resisted it at first but I called Him the most evil name there is. I am nearly certain hellfire and maggots are awaiting me at my judgement.

I will be your friend and tell you that I don't believe that you have committed the unpardonable sin. What was the name you called the Holy Spirit and in what context did you do this? Just wondering.

I have worried about the unforgivable sin for a while because I've said the "Holy (name) Spirit" but substitute (name) with satanic, and I got an alert from my bible app to do my full-bible reading plan and it's fading from my memory but I said something like maybe later Holy (name) Spirit. It seems like it was too deliberate to NOT be the unforgivable sin.

You're misunderstanding this verse almost as badly as most people misunderstand the 2nd commandment about "Taking the Lord's name in vain".

The unforgiveable sin is rejection of the Holy Spirit once it has come to dwell inside of you. You can't do that with words. You do that through spiritual rejection(think what Satan was trying to get Job to do).

I'm gonna guess you're a Baptist.

Cursing God? I've done that too when I felt hopeless, I said that I cursed Him. And yes I'm baptist.

And how could it be rejecting the Holy Spirit once He's dwelling in you if the Pharisees (possibly) did it by intentional, verbal slander?

The verbal was simply the physical manifestation of what was already in their hearts.

God is a Spirit. He doesn't operate on phrases of men. That's why the disciples could speak in tongues and be understood. It's why angels could communicate with people regardless of language. Do you think the burning bush was sending out literal sound waves in a Egyptian language to Moses? God doesn't speak English or any other Earthly, flesh language. He communicates on a spiritual level.

I don't think you have committed the unpardonable sin.Rejecting and denying Jesus Christ is the worst any person can do.....in my opinion.

God will forgive us of our sin if we repent and confess it to our Father. If you are a believer, you can go to the Lord and He will forgive you.Praying for you to find peace with God.He loves you.

When Jesus said "blessed are the poor in spirit" - the words in the original language mean not just poor in grace, but knowing it, wanting it, and actively searching for it.

It cries out from your post, you want the relationship mended so badly, know that you may have offended, and hope that he will not desert you because of it, hoping to do better if given another chance , so a firm pupose of amendment. Those are plenty enough for Him! You are forgiven already, all you must do is ask in humility. And try to keep to the promise of not again! After all, you only rejected him once, Peter denied him three times!

You'll know if you did it. Once the Spirit is gone, it's gone. It's almost like a self-exorcism. Only instead of driving out a demon, you're driving out the Holy Spirit.

I don't think for one second that you've lost the Spirit. People who do, want no part of God. I had a lot of self-doubt too. I was always afraid that I might have angered God in some way. I understand. That very worry, comes from a place where you want God. Those who are seeking, have not rejected. God's grace is always there, waiting to cleanse you. You just have to get out of your flesh mind and get more in tune with your spiritual focus. All my doubts, and my fears, they weren't coming from God. They were coming from me. God is there for you, you just have to figure out a way to get in tune with your spiritual side, and put to rest your Earthly, fleshful doubts. Your spirit is crying out for your mind to get out of the way.

I grew up a very traditional doctrine focused Baptist, so I'm aware of the self-doubting signs. I always felt like everything was in my control, my fault, etc. I know that's the theology in a lot of them. Thankfully the Baptist church I'm in now is spirit centered and not doctrine centered. It's a lot easier now that I've turned my life over to God and can follow Him blindly in faith. It was a huge burden when I always felt like I needed to learn new things, and understand things. I was carrying that load on my back constantly and it was exhausting. I was trained to see evil everywhere. In myself, in my brothers and sisters in Christ. I was constantly stressed out and felt under siege. It was hard work to be a deep theology, fundamentalist Christian hoping to gain enough knowledge to grow a tiny little bit spiritually. It's been a lot easier to focus on just God and growth through prayer and spiritual communion over endless hours with my nose in a book, learning ever more doctrine. Now I trust that God is there for me, and any mistake I make.. my Father has my back. As long as I keep seeking, everything will be alright. That is just as true for you, Deer.

The unpardonable sin is rejecting Christ as Savior. It is not blaspheming Him. Like another poster said, Peter denied Him three times, and cursed. Yet, who did Jesus ask to feed His sheep? That big mouth, Peter!
God loves you more than you can ever possibly know. He wants you. All you have to do is tell Him you are sorry. He has forgiven you already, like one poster said.

Hugs. I'm so so sad that you feel so hopeless right now. First of all I don't think what you did was the unpardonable sin, and as proof you are upset about it. If you had you wouldn't care or feel guilty at all because His Spirit would no longer convict you. On a personal note, I have also done things that I was sure God would not forgive me because I did them deliberately. I understand how you feel, really. What helped me was realizing that it is not about me and what I did but about God and who He is. I guess it all comes down to whether or not you believe that He is who he said He is. I recommend reading all of Ezekiel 18, but focus especially on the last 2 verses. When you acknowledge that what you did was wrong and ask Him to help you change so that you wont do that kind of thing again, he will. If you really repent then you are really forgiven. That's how it works: you repent, He forgives, and then helps you change... all you have to do is accept His word for it and He is waiting there to help you. May He bless you with His perfect peace, shalom :)

It is clear you fear God. I am sure God loves you and does not care if you called him a devil or a demon or something bad. Repent from it and fear God in all that you do, do His will. I have been frustrated at God at times in the past as well. But just know God is righteous and perfect and if you are expressing anger towards Him, it is not justified. He will forgive you.

"For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:"

Yes, but I'm not sure He will forgive me for testing His limits and insulting the Holy Spirit

DeerGlow

Here's the thing DeerGlow, your conscience is telling you that you did something wrong. Your feeling remorse for doing this wrong thing. You KNOW it's wrong and you ought not have done it.
What does that tell you?

It tells you that the Holy Spirit is whipping you with conviction. God is still there, He never leaves. We do, we walk away. He doesn't.

Use that conviction, to go Before God and repent of your sin. Trust that Christ is just and righteous to forgive those sins. Get back into reading God's Word, Stay in prayer, go to church and speak to an elder you know is Born Again and faithful, ask Him to pray for you also.

Your right, God in no way let the guilty go free, for sin. But He will wash and cleanse you by that blessed blood of the lamb. Make you white as snow, renew your mind, change your desires and give you that free gift. Just repent, Trust, read, and pray. Live your life in holiness, thru the Spirit. Because we can't do it on our own. We must be crucified with Christ and live as Christ in the Spirit.

The verses about fearful expectation of fiery judgement and people who blaspheme in matters they don't understand and aren't afraid to heal abuses on celestial beings haunt me. I don't think fear is always a sign that someone is forgivable. I hope I am, but I can't have certainty anymore.

Yes you can, thru Christ.

So, right now, if you were to die then you'd go to Hell?

If you say yes, then why? what sends you to Hell. Your sins do. God doesnt' want to send you there. It's His will for all men to be saved.
YOu just have to realize that God loves you, enough to come down in the form of a man, fully God/Fully man. He came Here to save the lost, not to condemn. If your lost, your already condemned.

If you have sin in your life. You know what you have to do. Goto God and repent of your sins, come before Him with a contrite and broken heart. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins, to help you pray and to surrender your life to HIm.

No,
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge...Proverbs 1:7

That knowledge you have is in your conscience. Conscience is a compound word, it means With (con) knowledge (science). You already know that you ought to do something.

The word tells us to repent and place or Trust in Christ.
